Along Connecticut Avenue, a major commercial and transportation hub of Northwest D.C., lies the neighborhood of Forest Hills. Students from the University of District Columbia and the nearby American University infuses a college vibe into a neighborhood that also contains foreign embassies and their dignitaries.
The neighborhood lies a bit north from the main downtown area of D.C., yet the red metro line that runs along Connecticut Avenue makes this neighborhood ideal for those who want a little more peace and quiet after a day's work while still having prime access to all nightlife activities of downtown.

I love my new apartment. The appliances are new, the layout is functional, and it has lots of natural light. It is also perfectly situated with between multiple public transit options, as well as grocery stores and lots of walking paths! Most importantly, though, was the actual move in experience - Rennel and Jason went above and beyond at every step of the way. Their attentiveness has made me feel welcomed and their straightforwardness has earned my trust. I highly recommend them and 3801 Connecticut!
We lived there for 6 years, and the reason why we stayed there for so long is not just convenient location and nice building and apartment, but also amazing and very friendly management staff and great maintenance team. Any time we had a problem, it was quickly resolved. Also, we loved the social events where you can meet and chat with your neighbors. Highly recommend this place!

Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about 3801 Connecticut Avenue and our staff! So happy you enjoy your apartment!
This is my second review. I have lived here now for 4.5 years and I hope to live here for a very long time. My apartment, the building and the neighborhood are just fabulous. My apartment was newly renovated so it was clean and updated. it is spacious, well laid out and has so much natural light. The building is kept very clean, I feel very safe here and the location is just perfect. Because the building was built in the fifties, it feels solid, the walls are very thick so it’s very quiet and it’s being retrofitted to bring it up to date. We even have solar panels! But….what makes this building truly outstanding are the people. The staff and most of the residents are terrific. Rennel, Kanmi and Angela at the front desk are just so helpful, accommodating, friendly and fun. Spencer and Yolanda are great building managers and they work hard to keep the building in great shape and the residents happy. The maintenance team, Marvin, Pius and Noe keep everything in great working order and respond practically immediately and the housekeeping crew of Ingrid, Marie and Roberto do an outstanding job of keeping everything immaculate both inside and outside the building. The majority of the residents are delightful and many of them have become dear friends. Even the dogs are very happy at 3801. I am very lucky to call 3801 my home.

Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about 3801 Connecticut Avenue! The staff always strive to provide top quality service to every resident and guest and we are so thrilled to hear that you have enjoyed your experience here at 3801 Connecticut!
The building is fantastic, not only is the management super friendly but everyone at the front desk is incredibly helpful. I had an issue with my toilet and maintenance was there in less than 10 minutes and promptly fixed it. On top of that Spencer from management came to check on me and even offered me access to a private bathroom to use while they were working on my toilet. Truly such a wonderful building, cannot say enough good things about my time here and Buzzuto management!

Hi, thank you so much for providing us with feedback on your experience here! We really appreciate your positive review . Thank you, Spencer Fried Property Manager
You should only move here if you like constant headaches. I've lived here for barely over a month (literally a month and 5 days) and this is what I've dealt with so far: -Within a week by bathroom flooded and water covered almost my ENTIRE apartment. And no, I wasn't using anything that was not flushable, the plumbing just sucks. I live in a studio so the water went through the dressing room all the way to the hall way and was about to reach the sleeping/living area. Just simply DISGUSTING. Imagine bathroom water on your personal belongings. -My electricity has gone out TWICE in ONE WEEK. I am not kidding. I had an issue with my electricity on 1/25/2021 and as I am typing this right now on 2/1/2021 I am waiting for the maintenance person to come fix it. But guess what? There is no maintenance person on sight so guess how long I have to wait? At least an hour. This is just the beginning of the list and it had only been 5 weeks LOL. Save your money and save yourself a headache. Go somewhere that at least has electricity.

Significant, frequent issues: emergency water shut offs, airconditioning outages, broken laundry machines. Windows do not insulate against cold or noise. Renovations are happening but are only to improve the looks.

I've lived at 3801 Connecticut Ave NW for over a year, the location and rent are the two main reasons this is such a great place to live. Bozzuto hasn't recently taken over property management. There seems to be renovations in the works to update the prewar building. It's easy to get hold of management and maintenance and the building has 24 hr front desk. The location in Cleveland Park is the best part of this building. 2 blocks to the metro, great restaurants, and Rock Park for outdoor activities.

Pros: -The staff is nice and friendly -Service requests are responded to quickly -Nice laundry room with newer washers and dryers -Great location (near Rock Creek Park and metro/bus stops) -Has quarterly events and/or catered food for residents -Concrete walls, can't hear neighbors and vice versa -Heat to AC switch is done in May when it's already very hot. Makes it difficult to sleep through the night Cons: -Small gym -No balconies -No pool or outside recreational area -Due to new management and ongoing renovations, there are weekly water shut offs and constant hammering and construction. Makes it difficult if you have to stay home randomly due to illness or want to play hooky. Likely won't see results of renovations (in common areas) for years to come. For perspective, I just signed a lease with a building in Van Ness for the same price as these units that has everything in the Pros and none of the Cons (meaning there's a huge balcony, pool, gym, tennis court, no construction etc.). The building is great to get your foot in the door and acclimate to the area but you're being asked for too much money for so little in return. Bozzuto, the new management, has a clear vision for the building and wants it to become more high-end. I wish them the best and would recommend the place to anyone looking to lay low for a year or so.

I live in one of the unrenovated apartments. Despite a recent change in management, the building is very responsive to maintenance requests and makes an effort to engage residents in activities. Desk staff are friendly and on 24/7. This is a great location, in a quiet but convenient part of Cleveland Park, right next to Rock Creek Park hiking trails. I definitely recommend it.

I have been living in this apartment for a year, and am preparing to move out. I have a renovated unit that is well-updated, with carpets throughout (besides kitchen and bathroom). Overall the apartment itself is very comfortable, with a few issues: the bathroom is very small (it even has a mini door); the windows are very outdated and have trouble opening/closing; there is no DisposAll in the kitchen; kitchen is also very small with very little counter space. The building is within walking distance to anything in Cleveland Park, about 5 minutes from the Metro, with lots of bus lines out front--huge plus. The issues are greater with the building. They are doing constant renovations, and while you might think the apartment being renovated isn't that close to your unit, the construction noise has been constant since I moved in, and extremely loud (jackhammering) at times. When I first moved in, the leasing agent told me they were planning on updating the common areas; this hasn't happened and they are very unsatisfactory for the cost of rent. The gym is laughable; one or two weight machines, a couple of cardio machines, no free weights. The concierge staff are mostly good, but the leasing agency always seem a little greasy to me and I don't like working with them at all. Rent increases this year (almost $100) are definitely not work the mediocrity I've felt about this building.

I have lived at 3801 for a year now and here is a summary of my experience: First- the staff is excellent. I had to switch units before my lease was over due to an issue with my dog and my neighbor. Honestly they could have just kicked us out, but they were very reasonable and got us into a unit better suited for us (and away from grumpy neighbor!) So for that, THANK YOU! Second- its an older building with quirks, but so is pretty much every apt building in the area. They are however, renovating every unit. We are in a newly renovated one and its very nice! However, due to several units being renovated each week, there are several interruptions to water and of course the noise from 8am to 530ish. Sorry but 8am is just too early for all that hammering! When a nearby unit is being renovated, it takes about 2-3 weeks to finish. Third- the laundry room simply doesn't have enough machines. I've gone during all hours of the day, week days and weekends, it's ALWAYS busy. They only have 8 washers and this is a 9 story building.... Fourth- there is a $400 amenity fee, but I'm not sure why. The only amenities are a small gym with broken down equipment, a pool table, and a social room that includes a tv. I'd hope for better for a $400 amenity fee! But a few more positives- utilities are included in the rent. Rent is reasonable for the area, and it's only 2 blocks from the cleveland park metro! They are dog and cat friendly (dogs must be under 40lbs, and SEVERAL restricted breeds. More than any other apt I've ever seen.) They do have a parking garage but of course that costs extra just like anywhere else. For the cost of rent, I'd say my stay here was worth it, even with the negatives I discussed. You get what you pay for, so if all you need is a simple place in Cleveland park for decent rent, 3801 isn't a bad way to go!

The general building is nice for the price; remember this is not marketed as a "luxury" building, so if you want that you may want to look into new buildings in central DC. The concierge at front is always nice and helpful. As for the rooms themselves, my apartment was renovated maybe in the last ~5-8 years. Fully carpeted one bedroom. Kitchen was small but functional for 2 people and plenty of cabinet space; layout was galley like. Bedroom and bathroom clean with great natural light from spacious windows. Only complaint is that it looks a bit dated, however they are currently renovating a whole bunch of units; photos look amazing. The gym is small: 2 treadmills, one eliptical, one bike, one machine chest press, one cable tower. You could get a decent workout in if you wanted. Laundry room is in basement which you pay with a laundry card which you load money on. About 9 washers and 10 dryers with long tables in the middle to fold clothing. As for maintenance requests, the management has an app for cellphones to write on requests. They are so quick to respond and doc whatever is broken or needs repair. Garage below building is spacious and all covered. There is a zip car next to the building which is convenient if you ever need a car. The neighborhood, Cleveland Park, is the best thing about 3801! Plenty to do, beautiful scenery, access to Rock Creek Park, near grocery stores/etc, instant access to popular bus routes and the red line, and far enough from downtown to enjoy some peace and quiet, but close enough to go out with friends! Overall, decent place which seems to be improving every year.

Just re-upped our lease on a 1bd. Ours was one of the the first to be renovated (they're really nice!), just before it was bought by Bozzuto. Overall, we're pretty happy. The location's great, the staff helpful, and the amenities are pretty decent for the money. I do wish there was private outdoor space (roofdeck, balconies, etc.) and wouldn't recommend this to families (studios and 1bds only.) But, If you're a young professional or couple like us who've grown out of the frattier party buildings but isn't quite ready to own or live in a more family-oriented community, this is a good fit!

The apartment is one of the cheapest in the area and very close to the metro. However, the overnight weekend front desk lady is very rude, there is loud noise from construction as early as 8 or 9 am everyday, the water is turned off periodically, and there is a high amenity fee when there are no real amenities. Although this building is the cheapest in the area it's definitely not worth the price.
