Historic red brick architecture and modern glass skyscrapers share the streets of downtown Hartford, also known as the Insurance Capitol of the World. Downtown has experienced something of a resurgence, adding new restaurants and almost doubling its residential population, while a comprehensive local bus system services the entire metro area. Residents crowd the streets running errands and walking dogs, and thousands turn up every summer to hear Hartford's old vanguard of jazz musicians play in Bushnell Park, the oldest public park in the United States.

Property Ratings at 55 On The Park
Let's start with the good: The apartment offers a great location if you like being in downtown Hartford, and high ceilings/nice kitchen counters, and the maintenance staff is generally very good about resolving issues. Everything else: On a good day, maybe a quarter of the washing machines (one set on about 80% of the floors) are working, and as far as I can tell, they'll probably never be fixed. The management company PMC could be best described as negligent. They have e-mails listed, but will rarely if ever respond. The best way to get in touch with them is going to their office in person. They're experts in absolving themselves of any issues with the property and eventually just say "That's not my problem". If you would like examples of their practices, just look up reviews for their property group, it's well deserved. Also, your packages WILL get stolen.
Amaizing building me and my husband were impressed with the wonderful location conveniently located on the park along with beautiful views of the Capitol and park pond! The historic structure is very nice, and the amenities included are great including Gym, lounge, package room, security on site, dry cleaning room and bike room. Even a fob to enter! We both agreed the super High ceilings and great views are what stood out the most for interior of the apartment. Thanks for the great tour ! I hope this helps in finding your next apartment! Thank you

We are thrilled to hear about your 5 star experience! We love the historic structure and of course all of the great amenities! We hope you continue to call 55 on the Park your home. Thank you for choosing PMC Property Group.
I’ve been living at 55 on the Park for 6 years and I love it. The crazy high ceilings and giant windows let in so much sunlight. I’m also a fanatic about fresh air and these windows open wide. The views of the park are amazing! My neighbors are very friendly and we’ve made good friends while living here. The fitness center is top notch...now I just need to use it more often. ??
Property Manager at 55 On The Park, Responded To This Review
Thank you for sharing your experience living at 55 on the Park. What a nice 5-star review! It really is a beautiful building and we are thankful for residents like you who choose to call 55 on the Park their home year after year.
The unit's are pretty and the view/location is nice. BUT, it's an old building and has A LOT of issues. The poor maintenance people are just running from 1 issue to the next. I've been here less than a year and so far I've had a broken microwave that took months to fix, problems with the plumbing, at 1 point I had water coming up through the floor boards in my unit, there's a constant rattle in the pipes that apparently nothing can be done about. It's a lot. Additionally the building itself has a lot of issues. Usually 1 of the 2 elevators is broken; the laundry machines are really awful, and very expensive; and there have been several times where the water in the building was shut off (they did give notice, but still. How many times can tenants be expected to put up with that?). It's just not worth all frustration--and all the money, rent is high-- to live here. I'd steer clear.
An absolute nightmare. No heat for two weeks, no hot water for a week and a half, appliances were never fixed (2 of four burners didn't work, dishwasher didn't work at all, and dryer didn't dry our clothes), and the office staff ignored our calls or were incredibly rude if we tried to complain. It got so bad that we felt forced to file a complaint with the city of Hartford (of which they were found guilty and were fined). When we got our security deposit back- even though I spent an entire afternoon scrubbing everything and took pictures of how everything was left incredibly clean- $150 fee was still taken from our security deposit for cleaning they claimed they had to do! Not to mention the neighborhood is really dangerous. I got my tires stolen and car windows were smashed and my fiance was mugged! DON'T LIVE HERE!!!
The person that rated this place a 4 star might have enjoyed their stay... this person might have not experienced any issues with the unit. If you are one of the few people that ever have to deal with water leaking into your unit, GOOD LUCK. There has been multiple tenants that have had issues with mold with no action taken to any of the responses submitted. It is both shocking and alarming the seriousness to the issue and the call to action the management company takes to address the issue. There are better apartments out there with proper management and better locations. If you are one of the lucky ones that have not needed to deal with the management company, yes you will enjoy this place among the rest of the other rentals around. If you unfortunately have an issues and need response from the management company that this rental has... just be prepared for no response and laughable urgency.
After living here for about 2 months now, I am still very happy with my decision to move into this apartment complex. While it is more expensive compared to available options in other surrounding suburban towns, I wanted a location where I could walk to several things. From here, I can walk to bars, restaurants, the movies, and I even look out my window to Bushnell Park. This building seems to be full of young professionals which is nice. I also looked extensively in West Hartford, which has a walkable downtown and social life, but there are limited options and it is pricey. Things to keep in mind: 1- It is Hartford, not the most bustling city. It gets quiet on the weekends. 2- Again it's a city so you have to pay attention to where you're walking. Just be aware. 3-There are a lot of added costs with the apartment building- parking, laundry, A/C, cable, electricity.
