Fort Wayne combines the bustle of a city with the laid-back charm of a small Midwestern town. North Fort Wayne, which incorporates several smaller neighborhoods and an array of parks, sits about two and a half miles north of Fort Wayne’s center. Interstate 69 zips directly through the neighborhood, making it an ideal base for people who need to commute into the city.
Find an apartment available for rent near the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and fuel your children’s need for adventure. At the zoo, kids of all ages can enjoy the opportunity to hand-feed the giraffes, a privilege not often found at many other zoos. This zoo also offers five different rides, including the Z.O. & O. Railroad that lets you enjoy the park in its entirety from the comfort of a train.
Coyote Creek Golf Club and Colonial Oaks Golf Club, both of which lie within the confines of the area, give sport-loving locals plenty of room to unwind.

Property Ratings at Wallen Hills Apartments
My wife and I lived at Wallen Hills for a year and the experience couldn't have been better. The ladies in the leasing center are top-notch when it comes to service, and what few issues we had were always taken care of promptly. Highly recommend to anyone looking for the best value at the best price!
Honestly, really like living here it’s quiet it’s peaceful but if your dishwasher messes up, they will come look at it and say it works. The dishes should go into the dishwasher dirty and come out clean. The thing sounds like a jet engine taking off. It worked great for the first nine months we lived here you could completely jam, pack the dishwasher and everything would come out perfectly clean now you can put one dish in there and it would come out dirty. I’ve tried asking them to fix it, but I guess I have to write a review. 624 unit 6
My children and I migrated from the Caribbean due to my work/career. Wallen Hills Apartments became our home. The staff are a cut above the rest. They made us feel so welcomed. We were introduced to a lot of American traditions at Wallen Hills Apartments, namely roasting marshmallows, hot dogs and riding the tractors with hay for Halloween/ fall. We also enjoyed the amenities, the pool was the absolute favorite for the boys and it filled in as a replacement for the beach. They ensured we were comfortable and assisted us with our many inquiries, printing out homework, giving general tips and really making us feel as if we belong. My boys and I loved living there, we felt safe and secure. Every member of their team were awesome especially Morgan and Andrea. They are the legit best. Living at Wallen hills made our transition easier. So to the international nurses out there looking for a safe place for your families to live and enjoy whilst you work. Give Wallen hills a call and see what I'm talking about.
I lived in 5 different apartments during my time In Wallen Hills. I moved to more preferable units as they became available. During my time there, the office staff and maintenance guys were always professional, attentive, responsive, and super nice. The pool was always in top top shape and maintained, the office (pre-Covid) was always open to walk ins, and they usually had awesome cookies to snack on. Are all of the units state of the art and the most up to date? No, probably not, but people need to remember that renovations take time, and having units down for renovations is money lost. But for the very reasonable rents they charge, plus the fact that you only have an electric bill to pay, Wallen Hills is one of the best if not the best apartment complex to live in on the North side of town. Others may be newer, but you will pay "house payment" rent to live in those places. In my time there, there was only 1 problem tenant, and both the on-site office staff and the corporate office staff both responded quickly and took care of the problem. I was fortunate enough to be able to build a brand new house, otherwise I would still be living there. Leaving Wallen Hills wasn't like moving out of an apartment complex, it was like moving away from family. I will miss talking to and interacting with the office staff, especially Morgan, who was always my favorite. I can't say enough good things about Wallen Hills or recommend them enough. - Chris
Wallen Hills was the first apartment I've ever lived in. The staff is always very kind. They were great at walking me through the steps and explaining everything thoroughly since it was my first time! The apartments are nice, but mine did have a slight cold smoke smell, which even after keeping the windows open never seemed to go away. Other than that, the building itself is always very well taken care of, and even decorated festive for holidays! Glad that I found Wallen Hills.
have lived at Wallen Hills Apartments since December 2015. I am very impressed with the professional and kind demeanor of all of the office staff and maintenance staff. Anytime I have had an issue it was always handled that same day or very soon after, if a part was required. I feel very safe here we are right off of a very nice neighborhood it's a great location for Fort Wayne! Also the pool in the summer is so much fun, clean and well maintained, my grandchildren all love it so much! I give Wallen Hills Apartments five stars for those reasons!
Not sure on how the apartments are because the application process was cruel. I stopped in to see what they had available. They told me they had a 1-bedroom and a studio apartment available and once I turned in my application fee they would hold that apartment for me. I came in the next day and handed them my check. After she took the check, she informed me the one bedroom was no long available and all they had was a studio apartment. I asked if they had any one bedrooms coming available anytime before the end of the year (this was in October). She said no but she’d put me down for the studio until one came available. Processed my application, approved me for the studio, but still no one bedrooms available. After we set a move in date, they proceeded to call me 3 times to ask if they could change the move in date, did not inform me why. I found out through a friend they did in fact have two 1-bedrooms that were coming available. I called to inquire about switching to a one bedroom instead of a studio. They informed me that in order to switch to a one bedroom I would have to pay another “administrative fee”. As a result of the whole ordeal, I cancelled my reservation for the studio apartment. They have called me on each “move-in date” to remind me of their hours; to which in had to remind them that they changed that date too many times and wouldn’t let me move into a 1-bedroom so I would not be moving in. Each of the three move in dates... Worst experience ever in applying for an apartment!
I didnt have much of a choice in moving here. I pay ridiculous rates for a crappy outdated studio apartment. The appliances are so old, they barely work. They claim they are in the process of renovating these apartments, but my girlfriend’s father lived here when he was kn college and he came to our place and said “Wow! These places haven’t changed one bit!” The pool is nasty, I refuse to swim in it. Also good luck trying to wash your clothes in these miniature washer/dryer stackables. You’d be lucky to fit three pairs of pants in there at a time. If you have a choice, choose somewhere else.
I have lived here for almost 3 years. The only reason I am moving is because I have an opportunity in another state that is too good to pass up. My experience here has been great. The rent is really good for the area. The location is good. The office staff have always been friendly and helpful. Maintenance is wonderful. I’ve had very few maintenance orders, and they all have been fixed usually within a few hours, or the next day at the very latest. Maintenance is also super nice, professional, and have always been excellent with my dog, before and after he’s been trained as a service animal. My neighbors are wonderful. I don’t know many people outside of my building, but the ones I’ve talked to seem super nice, too. The grounds are really well maintained. It’s a nice, quiet complex. I’ve never used the pool or hot tub, they look fun and relaxing.
I never lived at Wallen Hills; however, I did go there to check it out because I wanted to live there. I didn't love the apartment after I was given the tour; however, I liked that they had updated apartments. However, I was told that since I lived in Arbor Lakes and they, along with Stone Pointe, were a sister property of Wallen Hills, that I was NOT allowed to get an updated apartment. They told me I could get an outdated apartment as they were seeing my move as a transfer, rather than an actual move. This is completely absurd as they were still going to make me reapply, provide a new security deposit, etc. It was so frustrating and discouraging.
I loved living in wallen hills apartments! it was my very first apartment and the staff was always very friendly and any maintenance issues we had were dealt with the same day! highly recommend :)
Nothing brings out a property like a pond. Our apartments bring out a country view like no other with properties backed up to a pond. The location could not be any better, within a 1/2 mile you have resturaunts , shopping, gas, and lodging if needed. If you are ever in Fort Wayne Indiana Wallen Hills Apartments are a must see.
Was in a studio here for 13 months. Never heard any noise, always felt safe, when maintenance was needed they came right away, the office staff was always friendly and helpful to me, after a year's rent I could lease on a month-to-month basis. The studio apartments are great for one person and the floor plan isn't just a big open square like many studios. Nice to have all appliances in the apartment.
reminds me of the community i used to live in which was really bad!
Lets see where do I begin. I lived here for 1 year and hated every minute of it. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door for the first time was that the carpet was stained in every room, the oven was not clean, the washer and dryer were so small that I could barely fit 3 towels in the washer and I had to run the dryer at least 3 times to get the laundry dry. By the way, the washer and dryer were my major issue because they kept breaking and management refused to give me a new one unless I "renewed" my contract. It usually broke on the weekend and since they do not consider that an "emergency", I had to take my wet clothes to the laundry mat because they wouldn't come fix it until Monday. I also noticed an abundance of trash that was left behind by the previous tenants ontop of cupboards and cigarette butts all over my patio. As a matter of fact, when I moved out, that same trash was still ontop of the cupboards as I refused to clean up after someone else's mess. The only good thing that I can say about Wallen Hills is that when I complained about everything after first moving in, the manager at the time did have my carpets replaced and got me a new oven but apparently she was fired for helping people out like myself because she was going "over-budget." But isn't that what apartment complexes are supposed to do? Fix your problems and replace equipment that isn't working? In addition to the washer and dryer being tiny and not working half the time, they were approximately 30 years old as they had never been replaced since the complex was built. My electric bill was also near $200 every month because I had to keep running the dryer all day. The thermostat was also not working properly as the heat would also stay on longer than what it was set for and heat the apartment about 3 degrees hotter than it should have. Bottom line is that this place might be bearable if they replaced all of the appliances and fired all management and put people in there that actually knew what they were doing. Customer service is their last priority and take my word for it, you will regret it if you decide to move here.
