Property Ratings at Hathaway Creative Center
Honestly, ignore every bad review on here. People will find anything and everything to complain about if you let them! We have been living here for almost half a year now and LOVE this space. The huge windows and nice white exposed brick make our apartment so light & airy. We've never had a broke elevator, ever. It's been shut down once for regular maintenance and it was only for an hour early in the morning. Management has been incredibly nice, helpful, and always prompt to respond to anything. I always see them around the building chatting to people or fixing things. They are super easy going landlords! As for the parking, its a residential AND commercial building – with customers who come every day – so obviously its going to be busy! There is always a spot. You might have to walk, but there always is somewhere to park. if its an issue, you can pay for a garage parking spot. The walls are not paper thin, I work from home and am literally here at all hours of the day and I have never once heard any of our neighbors through the walls. As a family with a pet who we love dearly its is a relief to have found a nice place to live that really takes pets into consideration. They have stations outside with bags and trashcans to clean up after your pet. They use salt in the winter that is safe for dogs paws. And there are maybe like 20 dogs here in a building of 65 people, and I have never once seen a dog just "running around loose." There has never been any college kids running around. All of the people who live here are families or young adults with jobs in town. We find it a very peaceful and friendly place to live and have found a real home here! Like I said, people will find anything to complain about so don't shy away from a place that could be a great home for you.
Terrible management and a horrible place to live! No parking, Extremely noisy building and the elevators are always broken.
Things have gone downhill since the building was sold in 2017. A CrossFit gym moved in on the first floor which is loud and messy. A brewery moved in as well and every weekend makes half the building smell horrible. The walls are so thin you can hear the neighbors every move (dishes, microwave, tv, phone conversations). It's like a overpriced dormatory.
Use to be nice. New management has ruined this place.
The apartment is very nice and has great potential. But between the dogs running lose everywhere, very thin walls, loud college kids, and the kids running up and down the hallways. Its not a very peaceful place.
These apartments are a rare find in an otherwise lackluster rental market. They are exceptionally well maintained, from plowing in the winter, to cleanliness of common spaces, to the landscaping out front. It's a place you're happy to come home to. The good: All new appliances, stainless steel, glass-top stove. Granite countertops. Hardwood flooring and ceramic tile in bathroom. Exposed brick. Huge, bright windows and loft ceilings. The bad: There's really only one main flaw, which is the noise level. These apartments are terrible as far as sound insulation. You can hear everything your neighbors do (yes, everything). If you live on the 4th floor you get hit from all sides--neighbors above you walking around the hardwood (for the love of god, take off your shoes folks!), TV, alarm clocks, phone conversations, and you can even hear noise from the retail space below you on the 3rd floor. The water pipes also make strange creaking sounds, which are inexplicably loud. I finally resorted to wearing earplugs at night, which made it manageable, but it's still annoying. If I had to do it again, I might go for an apartment on the 5th floor, but you lose the exposed brick look, which is too bad. Another drawback is the common laundry, as opposed to having an in-unit washer/ dryer. But at least there is laundry on site for a reasonable price ($1/ load). Finally, these are priced well above Waterville average, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for new appliances and excellent maintenance--they are truly worry-free. I just wish they would've planned a bit better on the sound insulation.
