Gastonia is a small city just west of Charlotte on Interstate 85. The Standard district surrounding Main Avenue cultivates an atmosphere of classic Americana, with historic buildings housing locally-owned storefront shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Most of the city is residential, consisting of quiet streets, attractive homes, and tree-shaded sidewalks.
For weekend adventures, the beautiful forests and dramatic cliffs of Crowders Mountain State Park are perfect for hiking and camping. Numerous smaller parks and golf courses provided excellent venues for more low-key R&R, and shopping centers like Franklin Mills and the Gastonia Mall are close at hand for a little retail therapy.
The relaxed environment and stunning natural surroundings have made Gastonia immensely popular with commuters; downtown Charlotte can be reached in thirty minutes by car or 45 minutes by rail via Amtrak’s Crescent line.

Property Ratings at Bella Vista Apartments
This is the worst place you could possible ever live in we been living there a year they never changed the vent filter and it caught on fire and the fire department had to come and put a big hole in the wall that never was fixed by maintenance like promised (it’s been 8 months) then our cieling started leaking downstairs they had to come fix it after begging for months and broke the living room light so they fix one thing and break another and lastly but worst of all our bathroom has so much mold on the cieling that it rotted and part of the cieling fell off &’ it’s starting to come down the walls it’s horrible please neverrrr live here .
I moved in Nov. I wasn’t able to see it till the day I moved in 3 wks after getting approved. I didn’t know what I was getting til I got my keys. A lot was wrong. Since Nov I’ve had one person come they did nothing. Smh run!
If you need maintenance you better call them every day and pretty much harass them. Office personnel is not organized at all. I called several times to request maintenance and every time I called they said they didn't have a work order for my apartment.
I just moved in and I must say I will be moving very soon. They showed me a model and the apartment I got had to be in a different complex. This place is bug infested. We have to brush our teeth in the kitchen sink because there’s no water in either of the bathroom sinks. The patio door is literally off the track so that can’t lock. Front door has a gap about 2-3 inches so I have to pick the door up to lock it. I moved in 3 weeks ago and still no mailbox keys. We have to kill around 20 cockroaches a day, probably would be more if we were home during the day. I still haven’t moved my furniture in because I’m afraid of the bugs getting into it. Run as fast as you can away from this complex and don’t look back!!!!!
Went to visit this establishment earlier today and it was beyond awful. When I arrived I wasn’t greeted properly the agent didn’t even stand up. She also didn’t speak when I opened the door. It seemed as if she didn’t want to do her job at all. We had to ask her if there were anything we can take a look at she said nothing will be available until Monday. She didn’t even ask our names or try to get any information to follow up with us. We were really considering moving there but after that we will not be returning. The pool also was terrifying. This is definitely not the property for us. I hope she treats the next future residents better than she treated us.
This place was built in the 70s and it looks well kept on the outside, but once you move in you start noticing issues like mold along other things like a shotty ac unit and roof leaks. My roof has been leaking in my one bedroom since the beginning of the lease last year, and it is still not fixed. My lease is up in the next 2 months and they are just starting to fix it now so they can up the rent for newcomers. They won't offer me a new place or renew after it is fixed because the only reason it is getting done is because code enforcement is making them. The enforcement officer even told me this is the 9th time he has had to come out here for this complex.
Apartments are run down, tenants who don’t follow rules, and an office full of clowns. Don’t bother calling about a complaint because the manager has an “I can’t be bothered “ attitude. This place is a joke and if you have ANY self respect and class you will not move here.
They never answer emails or attend to complaints. They are supposed to change air filters. Even when you ask they won't do it. They say they will call back, but never do. The cheap paint on the kitchen cabinets now looks awful. They won't fix the lights on the building so going outside at night is sketchy. It would not take that much effort to make this place livable, but they clearly just take, take, take your rent and never use it to fix the issues that are clearly needed to be fixed. I pay for pest control but never see it. The roaches, which they refer to as "waterbugs", are enjoying their living arrangement better than the human beings. We will not be re-signing our lease, and may even leave before it's up. Don't believe the pictures you see on their site, this place is not what they claim it to be. I believe there is only one person in charge in the office at this point, and she has no idea what she is doing. Whatever company actually owns this place, you may want to make some changes, or just some sort of effort. I'm sure you will just keep taking peoples money without doing the right thing, which is why even though my wife and I have been excellent tenants that keep our place as nice as possible, will not be here any longer than we have to. If you decide to sign a lease after reading all these negative comments, then you have nobody to blame but yourself. That is all.
Neighbors are RUDE! Neighbors like to talk VERY LOUD and YELL right outside your apartment! First little rain we had I noticed the bedroom ceiling water stains. the "maintenance" guys came out and "fix" it by spray painted over the stains. The first hard rain storm we had the bedroom ceiling and Windows started to leak! They claim to have "pest control" but don't seem to be controlling the pest problem. We find bugs every once in a while. The "maintenance" guys don't know how to fix anything! We asked to have a flickering light replaced, they replace the light and now the switch is backwards. We asked to have another light replaced because it was not working and it blew out shortly after being turned on. We asked to have the a/c fixed and all they did was add freon. The "no license plate on a car will be towed" is FALSE! A car has been sitting with no plate and with two flat tires since I moved in. Theye are not very specific or detailed when it comes to answering questions. For example: you ask if water is included with the price of rent, they will say yes. But it is actually added once they get your first water bill (which water bills come two months late). Let's say your rent isn $700/month. Once they get your first water bill, it could actually be $740 depending on your water bill. The renters insurance they suggest is not really that good...maybe one star rating in my opinion. The bathroom shower tile is Painted! So the first week you shower you notice the paint starts to peel off the tile! Drug deals are going on in the neighborhood. Drove by the playground and seen a group of teenage kids smoking a unknown substance that was being passed around. As well as some adults... i`ve been living here little over three months and already wanting to move!!!
I have lived here since 2012 and I am leaving because it's become a community that is dangerous. I have been told they have to allow anyone who can qualify move in. The problem is they have obviously lowered their standards. The property management is ineffective. They have lowered their standards for exterior maintenance. They can have complaint after complaint about a bad tenant who is causing massive issues but they do nothing. The interiors are ran down. You see beautiful pictures of the property. Honey the ones for the interior is stock art. The appliances suck. They stopped treating for bugs. And they rent to people who are the basest of the base. The rent goes up and the quality of the community goes down. There are so many more nicer communities. Run from this place. Fast. People who have lived here for years are fed up and are fleeing the community. The final straw is needing to call 911 and them not showing up. They have a "courtesy" officer. He is nonexistent. I think they have him to try to pretend we have one but it's just a voice recording. When I first moved in there was a live person who answered the phone after hours.
The girls Elsa and Karen that work the office of this complex deserve some amazing Kudos. They are always perky and ready to help with whatever they can. The apartment itself is GLORIOUS, it's apparent that they aren't brand new but they are kept in immaculate condition and if there are any issues maintenance is out there to fix it PRONTO. I'm very lucky to have such an amazing place to live. I rent the one bedroom loft townhouse and there is more than enough room for a couple just starting out like my boyfriend and I. The location is very convenient with the Walmart just down the road as well as a planet fitness and a slew of other shopping plazas. It is also only a hair over 2 miles to I-85(I believe, sorry I'm not from the area, either I-85 or 485...) convenience won out for us and we love it here!!
Bella Vista is for the DOGS!!! The apartments are to the place that they need to be SHUT DOWN, and REDONE! The management is the worst. They pretend that they care for, and about the needs of the tenants, but it is very evident that they don't. Needs are never met at the time of reporting , and when they are,it's ALWAYS half done!!!! It's truly time for CHANGE! The office is better that the actual apartments!!!!! The Bella Vista Apartments don't even deserve 1 star...Time for change with new and caring MANAGEMENT!!
The new staff are making strong improvements to the complex. There is now a courtesy officer there and things seem to be a lot better. Maintenance staff is playing catch up from previous staff but are doing great work. Close to a Bi Lo and several restaurants to walk to and eat. It is about 5 mins from I 85. I've never had any problems and I don't plan on leaving. A good place to live that is getting better.
The community has gone to the dogs. This was once a nice area close to shopping, great schools, which it still is but as a suitable place to raise children or get a descent nights sleep count this one out. In the past year the community has gone down where it could be a great place to live. Your complaints go unanswered and as long as disruptive tenants pay their rent you have no recourse except to move. Caring about the community in which you manage would be a great start for improvement.
