Property Ratings at Brentwood Tower
I'll keep it short. We are leaving because of severe cockroach infestation, management negligence, and overall being unable to sleep, live comfortably, or stay healthy. I have documentation proving all claims. Worst experience.
I lived and Brentwood Tower Negligent management causes roach infestation for a year-and-a-half. I'm going to start off this review by saying it is absolutely not worth your money the amount of money I had to put into this place when moving out was more than I would have paid been living somewhere else. My apartment had a roach infestation and after telling the leasing office they did not spray after emailing the leasing office they did not spray not until the third time that I had told the leasing office did they spray by this point I had roaches coming out of my books roaches, coming out of my coffee pot, and roaches coming out of my bed I just throw away my matress to throw away almost all of my small electronics this place is borderline unlawful as management it is their duty to spray and due to them being negligent I lost most of my items. On top of that this is an old building which means it has a lot of problems due to the pressure of the building the outside of my window cracked of in June 2016 my window was already partially open when it was cracked so I was unable to close it and though I had told them about this I had to live through the entire winter of 2016-2017 with my window cracked making my apartment freezing and almost unlivable. My garbage disposal broke and March of 2017 and despite me telling them and never got fixed even when I moved out in in July 2017. Again due to the building being old there were electrical issues I would turn off the light and the light would flicker with it turned off. This place is unsafe do not live here. And after all of this I never even heard back from them about my safety deposit. I would not suggest living here.
The apartment I had found had mixed reviews, some bad some good, but overall a safe place to live, and definitely better than some places I had searched. There are a good number of parking spaces, but you are given one sticker per residence meaning that if you have any friends over they have to park on the street. When I walked into my actual apartment, on the 8th floor, it was in fact small. Very little counter space in the shape of a square, floors were dusty, paint was chipped on the window sill, and the smallest fridge I've ever seen with an even smaller freezer. The hot water did not work in the kitchen sink, but the maintenance man was very quick to respond and help out and he got it fixed right away, at which I was grateful. They have drilled nails into the windows to were you can not open the windows farther than 4 inches. After a few week's living there I mentioned to the manager that if at all possible could I get a different fridge, she informed me they actually were ordering new ones and that my apartment was one on the list to get one because she knew how old it was. Not only old and small but it was rusted on top, no bottom shelf to separate the drawer, and no side bar to hold bottles or condiments so very limited at what I could put in there. I have lived at this place since the end of July and it is now the end of September. I have yet to receive a new fridge, even though I have talked to my manager mulitple times in person and via text. I haven't had a huge bug problem, but the hallways and elevators are always dirty, stained, or smell like smoke. I also haven't really had a chance to meet anyone in my building, people hold doors and elevators for each other and say a polite hello, but its mostly families and the elderly. There are no amenities such as a pool or gym or even really a grassy area for dogs even though pets are allowed. You also have to pay an extra fee to your monthly rent if you want a portable air conditioning put in either your living room or bedroom window. The washer and dryers are public and cost money but be careful because most of the time they leak and there is water on the floor, other than that they do work. This place isn't too bad for the price, it exactly what someone might expect. I could be somewhere worse, and I know that, but I also wish I could be somewhere a little better it is just hard with my budget right now.
