South Charlottesville is a reprieve from big-city living, while still remaining directly south of Downtown Charlottesville near big-city amenities and the University of Virginia. This spacious, wooded suburb has a park-like atmosphere to it, and in fact, this district offers a few city parks. Azalea Park features a dog park, playground, and ball field, while Riverview Park sits on 27 acres of riverfront preserve with biking and walking trails.
Situated on Interstate 64, community to nearby areas is a breeze, but South Charlottesville features amenities of its own. 5th Street Station is an outdoor shopping center with delicious restaurants and bars like Timberwood Tap House. Residents who need more shopping, entertainment, and dining options can venture directly north into the Downtown Mall. Apartments, houses, townhomes, and condos in this area have a luxury, modern vibe in a cozy, suburban area.

Property Ratings at Carlton Views
I have been living here for about 2.5 years. In the beginning it was fine something needed fixing the on site maintenance man would fix it, will he is no longer working at the complex. I have a light in the kitchen that has been out will before Christmas and have sent several messages and calls about the matter. Now the smoke detector is beeping ask would maintenance come and replace the battery. I should know if they won't replace the light, why would they replace the battery. Maybe I shouldn't pay the rent each month on time. Corporate is my next call. Over all this is a good place to live, if maintenance would fix things that need fixing.
Overall, I would say my experience at Carlton Views has been just "okay." There have been a variety of problems throughout my year of living here. 1. Pot smokers downstairs who lit it up every night. The smell was so strong I was awoken from sleep. Speaking to these individuals directly and contacting management did not change the situation. 2. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night several times. The first time this occurred it took approximately two hours for it to be fixed. The fire department could not access the building and a member from Community Housing Partners had to come to unlock the room where the fire alarm system is located. Another time it went off it was less than 20 degrees outside. In addition, my own fire alarm went off for no reason several times. 3. The electricity has gone off in the entire apartment complex several times. At one point this outage lasted several days and I had to stay at a hotel. 4. The elevator has broken multiple times, preventing easy access to the upper floors. 5. The A/C unit in Apartment #203 is in need of repair. It has broken approximately five times, usually when a heat wave occurs. This issue has not always been resolved promptly and no serious repairs have been performed on the A/C unit, even though it is clear they are warranted. 6. Cops have showed up at the apartment complex many times. One notable incident involved someone getting assaulted in the parking lot. According to what I heard, this individual did not live here. 7. No on-site housing personnel. At one point there was a "maintenance guy" and an "office guy" here. Now there are neither. A lack of on-site personnel makes staying in contact with Community Housing Partners difficult. 8. Some of the fixtures in the apartment have declined in condition pretty drastically only through normal wear and tear. Doors don't shut properly. Cabinets become crooked. Microwave doesn't open properly. Electrical outages on the front of the refrigerator. Despite all of these problems, I can't say my experience here has been horrible. The property manager is nice. The other individuals in the complex are friendly enough. The complex allows dogs. There is no carpet, so it's easy to clean. It has a nice modern feel to it. However, one should know that this place isn't perfect and those who stay here shouldn't have too high of expectations. Mine were definitely higher than what I actually experienced.
i checked the place out i loved it the manager is a really kind person i feel like it's worth it having a place like this
