Property Ratings at College Pointe Apartments
When I first moved it, I thought this place looked beautiful and safe, until I started looking closer and losing money. Absolute rip off for one. Their lease is outrageously ridiculous. My apartment came with a cheap old microwave. When I was moving out I read on the lease they will charge you $600 for a new microwave if they have to replace it, when they could get a new better one than what it came with for like $20-30. It's impossible to get ahold of the office and maintenance. My neighbors apartment was broken into which broke their door frame and they weren't even able to lock the door. The apartments told them they couldn't fix it until they moved out, so a young couple with 3 small children had to sleep in a home that had got broken into, and now anyone could just walk in. I moved out 08/31, and still have not received word on when I will be getting my deposit back. This place is ridiculously priced, and has a lot of sketch people living there. You will never get ahold of the office unless you get off work early and make it there before they leave. Don't bother calling or emailing, they will not answer.
If you're looking for a rundown apartment complex, where: 1) the office NEVER picks up phone calls, 2) management is rude and don't think for themselves, 3) maintenance requests take 1-2 weeks to complete, 4) neighbors are inconsiderate, 5) the property is NEVER maintained if it snows (i.e. they don't make attempts to plow it or at the very least maintain the drive ways, so it is essentially one big sheet of ice until it melts), then this is the place for you. The property is grungy and the tenants fit the property profile. It is not uncommon to hear some idiot blasting their music and/or revving their engine past midnight or the seeing the regular sight of cops and/or the fire department. Additionally, the property is marked as smokefree but I constantly smell weed around my apartment and regularly see people openly smoking weed in the parking lot. Another perk of living here is trying to get repairs done. Don't expect maintenance for at least a week, even for urgent concerns regarding things like no hot water or leaking dishwasher. Honestly, don't be surprised if it takes them 2 weeks to address your issue. There were several times throughout a month where my water heater stopped working in non summer months and my URGENT ticket was submitted on a Thursday but the crew didn't get to me until Monday or Tuesday. This happened weekly over the course of a month, where they'd come in each week to replace another part on the water heater until they finally replaced it a month later. Electronic payments and late fees are ridiculous as well. If pay with your checking account and 2 of your e-payments are returned, they force you to pay by cashier's check or money order or use your card which also adds a 3% fee. I was on time with payments for the 2 years through the COVID pandemic and I ended up having 2 payments returned during a 3 month period after recently starting a new job on a different pay schedule than my previous one. I had to go to the office to find out they blocked me from making any further payments using my checking because of "company policy". Never in my previous experiences with apartments since exiting the military have I ever heard of this. All my other apartments, just did the usual return fee or late fee.
Good morning Jennifer, I’m a resident of College Pointe apartments. I’ve lived in apartments most of my life by choice, mostly for the convenience. Some of my communities were wonderful and others as nightmares not worth mentioning. I wanted to address the staff of Jessica, Amanda, Brit, Luke, Jo, Jose, and I know there are a few more, they are just wonderful! Jessica and Amanda are a prefect office team, caring for their community shown by their actions. It means so much that they can be depended on to follow through and do whatever is best for our community, especially nice is they don’t complain about it. I’ve seen them walk the grounds, get their hands dirty so to speak, that alone shows their level of dedication. I believe they do their best to make us all feel like valued and safe residents! Brit and his team, their efforts of keeping our community in proper working order do not go unnoticed. They are quick, efficient, hard working, and polite with any interactions between them and our household! I appreciate how hard they work to keep an older property running at its best! I’ve seen them interact with other residents even driving through our community, they always seem like they’re listening and trying to come up with the best solution on all sides; at least that has been my experience! They are by far one of the best office & maintenance teams I’ve encountered! They make this a better place to live because of their attitudes and dedication to us, to put it plainly, a well oiled machine! Thank you for taking the time to read this and even more for keeping quality people like them on your staff!
I’ve been here two years, and I’ve always had good responses from the maintenance crew. They really stepped up to help me when my refrigerator was leaking or when my dryer stopped working. This place is a little old and well used, but I think it’s worth the cost. Parking is a problem, but there is street parking behind the south end of the apartments toward Vista Park. Oh, and the trees on the property are huge and beautiful. Also, management has changed, and the new management is very professional and respectful.
This place is the worst to live in. The manager is rude for no reason and gets defensive just for asking questions. They raise the price of trash and water services but the trash service is horrible and the hard key ever take off the trash. There is old duty filling up all the trash areas and they never get rid of it. They leave debris and wood laying in piles all over the complex. They have dog poop bag stations all over but have never stocked them with bags not once over the last year. The apartments are old, pool is nasty and they charge an outrageous price for what you get. Live somewhere else this place ain’t worth it
I have no idea why Google says this complex has a 4/5 when the ratings are literally one 2-star and three 1-stars. Not sure who did the math on that. Standard crappy apartment problems - dirty, garbage everywhere, poorly maintained, office closed whenever the staff feels like leaving I guess, price gouging, etc. The real problem here, though, is the staff. Some of the problems mentioned above are difficult or time-consuming to change, I get that. The staff's attitude, though, that should be an easy one. Unfortunately, corporate doesn't seem to care and I'd assume that this is the only place that the staff can get a job that will let them act like petulant teenagers on a power trip. The staff seems to change every year or so though, so maybe by the time you see this, they'll be easier to deal with - don't count on it.
Property Manager at College Pointe Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your honest feed back, Our team is sincerely sorry for the experience you had in our community. We can assure you that our team strives to create a wonderful place for our residents to call home. We are truly sorry that your experience did not live up to that standard and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to hear from you personally on how we can improve here at College Pointe other than what is stated above.
Don’t rent here. The housing they are offering is worse than on post. Go to Tacoma or literally anywhere else. Neighbors smoked constantly, including weed. Used condoms in the parking lot. “Working girls,” being picked up. Cops show up regularly. Inside is worse than the shoddy outside, and the staff will rip you off when you leave. Find somewhere else.
Things get stolen all the time (including your rent!), irresponsible management, greedy owners, nothing gets fixed and no one cares about the tenants it’s all about making money. PLEASE if you value a safe home DO NOT move here!!!
We've just moved in a little over 2 weeks ago. When we viewed the grounds, the property manager told us that the fence would be fixed. The maintenance guy said he'd fix two doors that won't close. Written work orders were done yet no repairs have been made. I saw the property manager and complained that the freezer is leaking into fridge, not making ice, fridge not working well. It's July 8, 2016 full disclosure. Now my food is spoilt, no means to replace expensive food. This is a safety ahead and health issue!! I have small children!!! Left messages, written report, no one there sometimes. I was told by SURHCO Properties that this wasn't an emergency maintenance protocol after I've asked numerous times to have this fixed. My husband has complained about the litter and feces outside too. Manager said people just come and dump stuff in the dumpster.
Good apartments for college students. Close to everything.
