Positioned right where the San Joaquin Valley meets the Sierra Nevada, Bakersfield is a thriving community that wears its unique heritage on its sleeve. While one of California’s largest cities today, Bakersfield’s local character is heavily influenced by its agricultural background. Horse shows are popular, with many filling the calendar, and locals love to take advantage of the outlying landscape in off-road vehicles. Festivals throughout the year celebrate the city’s diverse cultural influences, including Native American, Basque, Greek, and Scottish events.
Musical traditions run deep in Bakersfield, and largely define the community.

Property Ratings at College View Apartments
This complex looks inviting from the exterior but you're in for a rude surprise. When I moved in my unit was supposed to have been cleaned with new carpet. When I arrived however it was the same old carpet and there were cockroaches in every cabinet and cupboard in the kitchen and bathroom. Many of the units at college view apartments are rundown or just worn and in need of repair or restoration. You will find when you arrive at college view apartments that both parking areas have electric gates however these haven't worked in years I've come to find out. When I was originally looking at the apartment, I was told the gates were being worked on and would be functional soon. Because the landlord hasn't fixed the parking lot gates in years this complex is well known to auto thieves and burglars in general. To give you an idea of how bad it really is, on average 5 to 10 auto burglaries happening here each month. Not all of them are reported to police. Don't just take my word for it. Ask the on-site manager how many reports of auto theft or break-ins of cars have happened in the last month when you come to look at an apartment or call the police and ask about this property. In general, trying to get anything repaired or replaced, even if it's safety related, seems to be a long drawn out process and if you are the tenant that is reporting the maintenance issue you should expect retaliation in one form or another. When I first moved in, I was shocked that the complex had a 46% vacancy rate but after living here about a year I understand why so many tenants pack up and leave even before the 6 months lease is up. Most people hate to move but it's even worse when you move someplace and find you have to movie again within a year. Do yourself a huge favor then stay away from college view apartments.
the landlord is horrible she acts as your mother and tells you cant have anyone over they cant spend the night or even park their car in the parking lot for 20min. she will also come bang on your door and tell everyone to get out. the pool is gross makes you feel very itchy and dry they put way to much chlorine in the pool. she will also just kick you out for no reason at all she gave me a 30 day noticed out of no where and I was never late on payments I was always on time or early. and I wasn't loud she also will hurrah's you all the time as well.
Landlady is awful and a snob. Won't fix anything wrong with the apartment. Steals your deposit when you move out because she tells you it now needs renovations when it was planned to be renovated already. Too loud and rowdy and the pool is filthy
