Crestwood is located just three miles north of the White House in Downtown Washington, DC along 16th Street. It’s one of the first residential neighborhoods with single-family homes and spacious lots you’ll come upon traveling north of downtown. Home to several parks like Piney Branch Park and Rock Creek Park, residents appreciate the park-like atmosphere that accompanies Crestwood. Rock Creek Park is a national park and urban oasis that offers hiking trails, tennis courts, a golf course, an amphitheater, historic estates and landmarks, and ranger-led wildlife programs through dense woodlands and Rock Creek. Crestwood offers unbeatable access to big-box stores, grocers, and restaurants in Columbia Heights, as well as the abundant urban amenities in nearby neighborhoods like Dupont Circle.

Property Ratings at The Crestwood Apartments
I’ve lived here 3+ years now and have had so many issues that I’m honestly fed up. I can almost never have my windows open to get fresh air because so many people smoke weed and cigarettes, despite this being a lease violation. Even when the windows are closed, my unit always smells like weed (comes through the A/C and through the bathroom and kitchen vents). They know who the problem people are, but they refuse to evict them. It’s miserable. On top of that, my unit is incredibly noisy because of the utilities shaft that runs through it, which they obviously didn’t disclose. I do not recommend this property.
I love my studio apartment! Roomy with big windows and hardwood floors, very quite neighborhood and 24/7 Concierge’s. Maintenance is on point and our property manager Luis is very helpful.
I lived here for a year and only moved out because of financial reasons during COVID19. Overall, I think the Crestwood Apartments are worth the money. It will be hard to find such large, sunny, well-maintained apartments in DC for the same price. This was the first time I was able to live in a studio apartment by myself. PROS: - Large apartments with huge windows, usually overlooking greenery - Hard to beat the price given the square footage (550 sq ft for my studio) - Floors are very sturdy, which I think is hard to find in row houses. When COVID hit and we transitioned to quarantining, I was able to workout at home and not worry that my burpees would bother my neighbors below (I did use a yoga mat, to be fair!) - Utilities included, never had an issue with the heat, AC, or hot water - Quiet neighbors (and much quieter than other parts of DC) - Close to Rock Creek Park, good for jogging, hiking, and driving - Friendly staff - the front desk crew, maintenance, and janitorial staff were always friendly and neighborly. Big, big plus on this one! - Responsive management, particularly with regards to issues like repairs, pest control, and lock outs - We switched over to Daro Management, and their website is very easy to navigate. Rent is paid online through their portal (auto-payments available), and Daro folks are also very responsive - Big stairway for moving furniture if it won't fit in the elevators - Big laundry room in the basement with tons of washers and dryers. Machines use a laundry card and you can use your credit card to fill it up - Big dumpster and lots of recycling bins out back - Bus stop closeby on 16th St, and 14th st buses are just a few blocks away - Bike rack in the rear entrance of the building And to be fair, CONS: - I did have a few encounters with some bugs, I think because of the building's proximity to nature, some ongoing construction, and perhaps because the building is a bit older, and so pests are inevitable in that way. Never saw any mice or rats here. - The metro and grocery store (Giant, Target in Columbia Heights) are a bit of a trek (15-20 min walk) - The building is a bit older, if that matters to you (I think built in the 1950s). The appliances are not brand new but are fully functional - My bathroom didn't have any windows - not sure if that's the case with all the units here
I like for the area of the border the transport privilege very safe area
The Crestwood Apartments sits on the edge of the beautiful Crestwood Neighborhood in NW DC. The location combines the convenience of living on main road into the city (with the added bonus of an S2 and S4 bus stop mere steps from the door!) with the tranquility of neighborhood living- even though busy Columbia Heights is only 10 minutes walk away. The building itself is older, built in the 1950s I believe, but the apartments are all well-sized and airy with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. I consider it a bonus that there are no other tall apartment buildings next door so all apartments overlook Rock Creek Park, the courtyards, or the neighborhood. Despite the age of the building, appliances are all in good condition and the building has gas stoves in every unit. Unlike other buildings in the area, The Crestwood also has a fully modern heating and AC system with every unit having I social thermostat control. No window ACs here! Flooring tends to be original wood parquet in living spaces and tiled in kitchen and bathroom. As far as community amenities go, there are trash chutes on every floor for small, everyday waste; and two large dumpsters in the well lit back courtyard that are emptied multiple times a week. Recycling is also encouraged and there are adequate bins for that as well. Additionally, the building has laundry facilities on the first floor with plenty of washing machines and dryers- all of which are kept in good repair. An onsite maintenance crew also keeps units in running order and all of my maintenance requests have been completed in less than 24 hours by our friendly staff. As for costs, I find The Crestwood to have extremely reasonable costs based on location and quality provided and would say it is better than many apartments in the area. Parking in the underground garage is also available for a monthly fee, but many residents park in the neighborhood as well!
