Property Ratings at Crystal Lake
Not only do they over charge you for the quality of apartment, now they are requiring you to have the fiber optic internet when you sign a new lease. An extra 60$ a month. There is so much mold on the windows/patios/toilets. It's gross. The carpets were filthy moving in, kitchen cabinets weren't wiped down. Never would I ever recommend this place other than the lake view. But you can't sit on your deck after three you roast and burn your hand on the door. Such a shame. There is no control over the garbage area, some days you can't even walk back there, there is so much garbage yuck.
Lived there for a year after moved out they didn’t give me back of the security deposit and charged me extra hundreds dollars

I'm always at a loss for words when we get a negative review like this. It's pretty discouraging because we try really hard to be fair with security deposits. What it comes down to is if you damage the apartment we will charge you for the damage. Most of our residents have a few minor charges on their security deposit when they move out: repairing nail holes, fixing some broken blinds, etc. At the same time, most of our residents leave with most of their security deposit. If you lose your entire deposit and still owe money, it usually means you stained the carpeting beyond repair or you had pet urine damage that required flooring replacement. My advice to anyone reading this is to expect to be charged for things you damage and to expect that we can have an honest and fair discussion if you disagree with what we charged you for. We try to take pictures of any damage as well so we can share those with you as part of that discussion.
One problem I have with crystal lake is they raise rents and say it is based off of market value with other newer apartment complexes out there. The apartment complex is over 12 years old. The rent should be going down a little not up. I do not recommend this place. You pay high rent for old apartments and townhomes. They also take most of your security deposit at the end. Stay clear of this place.

Market rent is based on what your unit type rents for when it comes vacant. We only raise rents on current tenants to the rent level that we are able to get when that exact unit comes vacant at our property. It is not at all based on the market rents for newer apartment complexes. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I hope this helps clarify the situation for you. We are very careful about only charging for actual damage during the move out process. We take pictures of everything we charge for and we are in fact quite tenant friendly when it comes to move out charges. We typically spend significantly more money getting an apartment ready for the next tenant than what we charge the tenant moving out. I'm sorry you did not feel like your move out charges were fair. We would be happy to send you pictures of anything that we deducted from your security deposit.
I lived there for 3 years, and ended up losing most of my security deposit due to "dusty laundry room". They claimed they spent 6 hours (LOL) cleaning it. The laundry room FYI was about 10 feet wide by 5 feet deep.

We've never charged for 6 hours of cleaning for a laundry room. There must have been more cleaning required throughout the apartment. If you contact us we would be happy to provide you pictures of the areas that required work.
I lived in an apartment for 6 years, and at the end of my time there (I moved out in August 2018), I spent 3 full days along with my partner cleaning the 800 square foot, one bedroom apartment. They took $450 off my $750 security deposit, but did not provide any rationale nor pictures for why that was. I highly do not recommend anyone rent from Crystal Lake unless you plan to lose most of your security deposit.

Several neighbors complained about rent increasing during their stay, to the point where they needed to relocate. Although I never had issues with the rent prices, Crystal Lake nickle and dimed every cent they possibly could during move out.
Property Manager at Crystal Lake, Responded To This Review
Rent increases certainly are a reality when renting an apartment. We offer our residents two year renewal options so that they can lock in their rental rate for two years at a time and avoid yearly rent increases. Without rent increases we wouldn't be able to pay for the ever increasing operating expenses at the property. Our property taxes, insurance, maintenance, and other expenses go up every year just like your rent. We are very careful about only charging for actual damage during the move out process. The apartment itself is wonderful. Every inch of space is used to its best potential. I am such a fan of the radiant floor heating. There are no hot or cold spaces. The fact that heat is included in the rent is a huge bonus. The community is warm and welcoming. I love the monthly potlucks. My neighbors are so kind and hospitable. I did not feel like a stranger for a moment. My children live in different states and were very concerned for my welfare. Having come to visit they are very confident that I am in a safe environment. They commented on how peaceful and serene the neighborhood is. I completely agree.
I have found Crystal Lake Apartment to be very comfortable, friendly, and accommodating. After living in my own home for 55 years, making a transition to an apartment was emotional and difficult. The atmosphere at Crystal Lake is very nice; residents are friendly, and the staff is very accommodating and responsive - from those in the office, to maintenance employees. I enjoy the fitness center, and the fact that I can take a walk around the lake on nice days, as well as the monthly pot-luck dinners that provide a nice sense of camaraderie. Crystal Lake provides very nice, affordable housing for all ages.
This apartment is great place to live if you're looking for a quiet, community atmosphere. The outdoor and common areas are beautiful, well-maintained, and updated regularly. The apartments share a sports/recreational and picnic area. The location is surrounded by trees, and residents often spot birds and deer. Crystal Lake apartments are located near great restaurants and the highway, making it easily accessible; anywhere you want to go is only a short distance away. Residents can submit maintenance requests with ease, and all requests are addressed very quickly. A great place to live!
The apartment complex is very well maintained. The clubhouse has nice amenities which is always kept clean. Really nice place to live in the outskirts of Green Bay and close to the highways. The downside to my apartment specifically is there isn't much storage space or much room in the detached non climate controlled garage either. I'd recommend anyone to live here. It's in a trustworthy area and always quiet!
After being home owners for over 30 years, we downsized to an apartment a year and a half ago. We love not having to take care of maintenance issues and, in fact, appreciate how quickly our maintenance needs are addressed. Our garbage disposal had a leak a few weeks ago and it was replaced within hours of our call. There are many amenities at our complex including two exercise rooms, movie room, pool table, and kitchen, all located in a club house that can be reserved for private gatherings. Other outside amenities include a sport court, horseshoe pit, gazebo, and grills. A fishing dock was recently installed. There is no pool, however. We like our condo style apartment layout with access to our private deck from both the living room and master bedroom. Four stars instead of five are for the following reasons: we are trying to move to an apartment with a two car garage and there are many fees and policies which are frustrating to us. Also, there is a great recreation trail just behind our complex but no access to it without going on well traveled roads with no sidewalks.
When my life was forever changed by a very sudden and unexpected divorce.... I found my perfect and beautiful appt... Not only is the location perfect... But so is the layout of the appt..the awesome view of the lake, the wonderful staff..and all the people who live here in this complex...God saved this appt for me... And I am so grateful to be here.. I feel now like I have a home again...and so very grateful that I am here.....I don't know about the future as my alimony was just reduced. Quite a lot... But I would truly hate to leave my new found home... My sanctuary... With everything else changing for me out of my control...it is so nice to have a place I know belong... And can come home to...thank you..
To live at Crystal Lake apartments & condos is to be up close & personal with nature. There are all kinds of wildlife to the great delight not only my husband and me but also our 7 year old cat. We have seen wild turkeys, geese, ducks, birds of every species, deer, woodchucks, and an occasional red fox. Our maintenance crew does an excellent job of keeping up with all the landscaping & repairs in a most timely manner. We have a superb clubhouse with a beautiful game room with fireplace & pool table, a complete, huge kitchen with all appliances to use for free, a movie theater, library and unparalled fitness center. But the BEST part of Crystal Lake Apts & condos is the friendliness of the residents. You can be as socially involved as you wish but if you seek solitude, you will have it. We have been here for 4 years and LOVE it!
My husband and I love Crystal Cove Community. We are in one of the large condo units. It's a quiet, beauitful scenic area and the neighbors are all friendly. They have monthly community potluck at the community room which is another way to get to know each other. If repair or service is needed, they send someone over fast!
The apartment itself is comfortable and the layout is excellent especially on lake side with nice few . The managers are outstanding and always go above and beyond for the residents to solve any maintenance problem at the same day. I just love it here being a resident for 5 years among so polite and high standard people from all age (mostly senior). My apartment overlooks the little lake and the ducks and geese are so charming to watch. Really a lovely place to call home, and so close to retail stores, shopping plaza, Mall and downtown Green bay. I don't ave to worry about snow shuffling or cutting the grass. Big space to exercise and walk around out door or indoor in well equipped fitness center.
Our apartment is very quiet with minimum noise from neighbors. The fireplace is awesome and the lake is very peaceful. There is a loon on it right now! The work out area is well equipped. The heated floors are a nice luxury along with vaulted ceilings (second floor). The neighbors have been very friendly.I would recommend this complex to anyone.
Brochure said cats accepted. Filled out application, paid the application fee, provided all the information requested. Then the staff started with pet conditions. Declawed required. Staff needs to be upfront. Application was illegible.
Property Manager at Crystal Lake, Responded To This Review
I’m sorry you did not learn about our pet policy soon enough. It is standard in the market for landlords to require cats to be spayed/neutered and declawed. We will try to inform prospective residents sooner in the future.
