It would be easy to characterize Gainesville as a pure college town—the University of Florida is home to over 50,000 students in a city of 130,000, and the campus is arguably the defining cultural hub of the community. Between the art exhibitions, concerts, lecture series, and, of course, the wildly popular Gator sporting events, the UF campus culture is a magnet for students, locals, and visitors alike.
But Gainesville has much more to offer than just an electric collegiate atmosphere. The historic Hippodrome State Theatre anchors the thriving Downtown district, which is packed with a vibrant assortment of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. Local favorites like Flaco’s Cuban Bakery and Volta Coffee attract a steady stream of students and non-students alike at all hours of the day and night.

Property Ratings at Cypress Glen
Nice people but...why not care for tenants better? We have an ant infestation and nothing that they did to try and fix it has worked. Every night the ants crawl on me and bite me. It's been almost a month now. The bug guy was supposed to come by and he came late and we were leaving our apartment after waiting half the day. They didn't reschedule him to come they didn't even acknowledge that he was late. This place used to be great, what happened??
Here in Gainesville FL the apartment complex Cypress Glen is littered with roach infestations in every building and have been fighting this problem in the same units for years. The moisture problem that every unit has leads to severe mold and mildew build ups. Along with plumbing that is falling apart. The exterior of these buildings will give you a nice feel of what jail must be like. The staff in the office are constantly playing videogames and respond to complaints in irrational manors. When a work order is made it may take a week to get done as I watch the maintenance supervisor never leaves his office. Things are always being stolen and there is no security. If you run into financial problems be prepared to be ripped apart by their lead office employee. Not friendly or safe. If you have children or pets and value their lives take heed to my warning and steer clear of this horrific travesty of a "living space".
Initially I enjoyed our apartment but after 3 months that feeling faded. We contacted the office that the door liners/weather striping did not fit the door frame and light was visible through to the apartment. We were told the maintenance person came out to fix the problem but there were no visible changes to the doors or striping. We contacted the front office initially upon move-in to warn them that the caulk job on the windows had melted and that after a summer storm we noticed all the windows in the apartment were not sealed causing them to leak. Again, a maintenance person came out to fix the problem but only resolved the caulk job on the kitchen window (which would melt and crack by the next summer). Several times the office was called about the leaky windows, and every time a maintenance person was sent out but by the next time a storm rolled through, in came the water. This caused a mildew problem in our second bedroom, the only fix the office provided was damp rid desiccant hung up on the window. The office did offer up some information that the windows were improperly installed when they took over the property and when they reinstalled the screws they cracked the concrete frames. in short, no quick fix will stop these leaky windows because the frame is cracked and the office was fully aware of this before we signed the lease. Also, they have a terrible, eye sore of a garden that they refuse to let the community take part in.
I went on a tour of this place and decided to research before renting. i searched the owners company and found that they also own apartments in Tallahassee,FL. There is a review here and on their Tallahassee apartments that are identical and posted on the same day. What are the chances of that? Then I continued to read reviews and there is a pattern of bad reviews then good reviews.. Employees must be doing the good reviews. When I went to Cypress Glen I found the office staff very rude. When I entered the office the older lady was being extremely rude to someone on the phone. I also saw that reviews about this company about rude management and staff. I would not recommend renting at either place if the staff is rude to people.
I wish I had found this place years ago! I looked around for new places to move for awhile (to say my place was a dump is an understatement), and I luckily came across this property on apartments.com. When I went to visit the location, nothing else I had seen came anywhere to close to this. Great place to live, awesome location, I'd recommend to anyone and everyone.
Perfect location 3 miles from University of Florida. Easy commute to campus, cheaper than living there and definitely much better. My roommates and I have a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom right by the pool. Everyone here is pretty friendly and the staff is chill and helpful. It's an awesome place to live, especially for UF students. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful place, friendly neighbors and staff, and most importantly... it's very pet friendly! My dog Sparky loves going for walks around the neighborhood and all the neighbors pet him when we walk by. In addition, the place is very reasonably priced and is an excellent location. It's safe and relatively quiet there, a great place to live.
After the nightmare I stayed in down the road, finding Cypress Glen has been a blessing. The staff is very friendly and always strike up a conversation when I walk by. It is conveniently located, very affordable and the amenities are great. I would definitely recommend the apartments here to anyone in the area
Do your research people before renting here. They boost as newly renovated but that was in 2013. The property and tenants are all a mess. The staff will be really nice at first but if she deems you are a problem in her opinion she will turn on a dime and will talk bad about you behind your back to her staff and other tenants. The Property Manager is one of the most rudest person I have ever meet. She screams at tenants and staff. Mostly HUD people who can't pass background checks with any other communities in the area. There are felons here, drug dealers, and people with evictions. She ignores any tenant issue complaints until they escalate to where she is forced to deal with it. She has more time off than any other Property Manager than I have seen. She brides tenants to write good reviews with $25 off rent or a laundry card which these people living here really need. She has movie days where she and her staff watch movies and eat popcorn instead of doing there jobs. Her so called assistant property manager shows up high everyday to work. My advice is to run away as fast as you can.
So excited to be living at Cypress Glen! Renovated, energy-efficient, and pet friendly.
Location, location , location. I love that I am minutes away from downtown, great shopping and most of all Ring Park( a hidden gem). The neighborhood is safe. There is grass and trees and it is quiet at night. Most of all I get 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths for 750.00 and that includes internet. The utilities are low and there's plenty of parking. Paula D.
