Property Ratings at Alma Cherrywood
I have been a renter for over 20 years. I lived in New York and my landlord was written up as one of the top 10 worst landlords in New York. He had nothing on these people. I lived in their german roach infested cave apartments for six years because they changed ownership and management so many times I was always able to negotiate a cheap lease renewal Why does no one want to own these apartments? First of all they are german roach infested and they don't want to pay what it would take to get rid of them., My self and my fellow residents had to go through two mandatory clean outs, which means taking everything out of your kitchen and everything out of your bathroom (the fine was $80 if you didn't do it) and that didn't work They overpopulate the complex so you can never use the laundry so be ready to go to a laundry mat. This complex is very old and they just threw down some fake hardwood floors and threw up some track lighting to make it seem nice and they never fixed anything else. Be prepared to have your water go out all the time and for your old air conditioner not to work Living there was my worst experience with management and the worst apartment I ever lived in.
The pictures look great. The building. The algae invested pool and bed bugs aren’t pictured. The police have been called 6 times in two weeks over multiple issues that the management refuses to do nothing over. My car was broken into and they told me to send a email which was never replied to. There have been numerous gas leaks. Today spilled trash sat in the corridor for over five hours. How does rotten fish sit there baking in the sun? Smelt great... save yourself and don’t dent her
This place is a horror story. Cockroach infested they have hot water issues. Not liking to have to take a cold shower. Found management very HARD to work with. Apartment was pretty dark and I couldn't keep any plants alive. I do not like the smell of cigarette smake and everyone smokes out on the porches so the smoke wafts into my window. So glad I moved away
Dirtiest apartment I have ever lived in! Was promised a renovated apartment, but on moving day, NONE of the work was done, nor had they even cleaned my apartment. They took over two months to partially renovate my place. They came into my apartment when I was at work one day and used a chemical that poisoned my dog- and eventually killed him. They charged me full price for my apartment even though it was only partially renovated. They refused to take responsibility for my dog until new management took over several months later. They said they would pay the vet bill, but didn't. They charge a monthly "pest-control fee" even though the whole building is crawling with roaches. When I asked them to spray, they came up with all kinds of excuses and delays. I finally got frustrated, sent them a letter as mentioned in the lease, and told them I was moving out early. They refused to acknowledge my letters and emails. AFTER I moved out, they finally renovated the apartment- then wanted to keep my security deposit and charge me rent for the time they were in the apartment doing the renovation work... WORST place I ever lived in. Dirty and dark- cave-like. The management team makes A LOT of mistakes and refuses to owe up to anything!!
I'm a student renting the standard finish 1-bedroom at Delwood Station apartments. $1025 For a cockroach infested 640-odd square foot apartment built decades upon decades ago with absolutely no upgrades is a bit too much. It should be noted that the 'upgraded' model costs another $50-75 per month and includes fabulous upgrades such as removing the ceiling fan in the living room and taking away over half of the cabinet storage space in the kitchen in lieu for prettier finishes on the remaining hardware. However, the inflated price is a byproduct of Austin's exploding population, and beats paying to live in west campus. And, cockroaches must be tolerated to live in Austin (no amount of poison could rid any complex near the city of them). Those two points aside, the rating for this complex reflects the superb quality of the current apartment manager, Tammie and the great location of this complex. Uber rides from this complex to 6th average about $8. Biking to UT takes ~15 minutes. Having a Fiesta literally a stone's throw away is priceless.
