Property Ratings at Edgewater Condominiums
Apparently Bakersfield edgewater likes to suck out all the money from the deposit A landlord can deduct from the tenant’s security deposit: The cost of fixing any damages to the property caused by the tenant or the tenant’s guests. This does not include ordinary wear and tear. The cost of cleaning the unit when the tenant moves out, but only to make the unit as clean as it was when the tenant first moved in (less reasonable wear and tear). Unpaid rent (including rent owed if the tenant does not give the landlord the proper notice that he or she is moving out).
We signed a 3 month lease at Edgewater thinking that by paying for 'luxury' housing we would have a smooth summer in Bakersfield (I had some summer work there). Wrong! The management was extremely difficult to work with, getting proper information was like pulling teeth. We specifically set up a 3 month lease with management knowing that our time in Bakersfield would be limited (for which we payed extra). They ended up charging us a whole month's extra rent just because we didn't submit a written 30 days notice prior to leaving! This was not mentioned to us during our onboarding process and management obviously uses this as a way to squeeze extra money out of the tenants. This is a shady and low way to conduct business. Companies like this are a drain on local economies. Homeless people do rummage through the trash regularly, our neighbors completely trashed their apt and were evicted, and the '2 day road construction project' was somewhere around 3 weeks when we left with no end in sight! Now I'm off to slam these guys on the Federal Business Bureau's website and anywhere else I can!
