Property Ratings at The Slates
Just came home from vacation to find they're under new management and, if you didn't pay by check on the first, you now have a late fee and a few days until eviction. Years of on time payment down the drain because you got rid of drafting. Still waiting on dishwasher to be fixed, since January. Weed and aggressive dogs everywhere, if that's your thing.
Office staff is terrible. Never answer the phones, and will not call you back if you leave a message. Trying to get anything fixed is a nightmare! Was left without air in over 90 degree weather for 3 days. Office staff, and Emergency line kept telling me that someone was coming out, but no one ever showed. This is the 3rd time my air has went out in a newer building since living here. They built several new apartments and did not add a second trash compactor, so it’s not large enough to accommodate all of the residents. Trash is always over flowing all around outside of it which also causes bugs for the apartments near.
I am glad that these apartments were recommended to me by a coworker. I was not familiar with this area, but I am very glad I checked it out. I have a 3rd floor end unit, so the vaulted ceilings are nice, and not having neighbors above me is nice also. My neighbors are friendly, and even takes my trashbag down with theirs when I sit it out (and I do the same for them). I can here some mild noise like when the washing machine is going, but that's IF in the laundry room... but that's to be expected with apartment living riight.
Worst apartment complex ever! When we moved in there were stains in the floor, dog urine dried and sticky on the walls, the molding around the doors was torn to shreds (by a dog I’m assuming given all of the other issues)... our garbage disposal was broke so there was a yucky smell and gurgling... called multiple times to get it fixed, nothing. 2 weeks go by and still nothing so I finally called corporate... A package was stolen from my door... The staircases were always nasty... the list goes on and on!!! We terminated our lease early because of how poorly this apartment complex was. Once we moved out they sent a letter saying our carpets needed replacing and then when I tried to call the number was “busy” and the other number was having “phone issues”... I can’t say enough bad things about this place!!
The people in the office are straight out mean. It’s like they don’t want my business. I’ve never dealt with such rude in professional people. I will never live here. I can only imagine having to deal with them as landlords! Heck No!!
We have had a few bad experiences with these people. The first time we didn't get approved and they wouldn't tell us why. I believe they never turned in the app because my husband got an attitude with the lady about giving her our children's social security number. My husband was making over three times the rent and we have a perfect rental history so there was no way we couldn't have been approved (this was in 2017). The second time was a few weeks ago. We turned in our app again and was approved. The girl told us to come look at a few apartments they had available and pick which one we wanted. We drove an hour to get there with our deposit and we looked at one apartment that was handicap and then she said there was no other apartments available. We called her right before we left and on the phone she said there was a few apartments but when we got there, there was one? So, then a week or two later we called and the woman said they had a three bedroom apartment available now. We drive an hour to get there again and we was informed it wouldn't be ready for a few weeks. Every time we deal with these people, they are untruthful. My husband called today to ask if they still had any available and the lady told him she couldn't tell him when it would be available until she had a deposit. Like what? We have lived in many different places because we are military and I have never seen an apartment ran like this. The lady's in the front should be ashamed of themselves on how they treat people.
They will take your application first make you pay $50 each applicant and than find a reason to say no. They call you saying you have been approved and the next day call you saying they mistakenly looked at the wrong form and called the wrong person. They are very racist and very poor management. Very unprofessional staff. Highly recommend not to even try at these apartments. They are make money on the application fee
I just called to ask if they had units available and if so what floors they were on. She said no info until I apply and am approved to live there. Why would I apply if you don't have units available? Waste of money. This lady would not have a job if I owned this property.
The management team is the worst. They contradict each other and cannot decide themselves what they need from a new applicant. I brought everything they requested on the application, then started asking for paperwork from a CPA that proves the company I work for was real. I can't imagine walking up to my boss and asking him to go get a letter notarized with the CPA of the company. Hate that I wasted 4 hours only to get nomowhere. Never recommending. Also recommending all of my friends and family to move out of those place immediately.
Gated community-I needed the security. The gates are left open during the day &/or the EXIT gate is open for anyone to enter & they do. Gates close at 7pm. & open all day-what's the use? My new apt was filthy w/red dirt, dry wall dust & popcorn ceiling residue dropping to the floor & glue from flooring everywhere & some projects not finished. Many visits to Dr for severe breathing issues they told me it was environmental most likely from the move here-as when I'm not in the apt the problems subside. After seeing the furnace filter & what it was pulling in as well as what I could vacuum up I knew that's what was wrong with my lungs. Shoddy construction-able to hear neighbor's TV & talking & bathroom visits. Ladies in office are rude, period.
The apartments look nice but the construction quality is poor. The walls are paper thin. I can hear every noise from every neighbor. You can hear every door open and close. I can hear every footstep from the apartment above me, sounds like elephants live there. Also the apartment was filthy when I moved in. I was told it was "construction dust" and to just mop it a few times. There was red dirt everywhere. I had to clean the apartment for four hours before I could even move in. They also charge extra fees that I was not told about until I was signing the lease.
