Property Ratings at Oakville Towers Apartments
What a disappointment, I went to see an apartment here today and how horrible it is. From the hallways, the ceiling looks like it's going to fall down, it stinks. What a scam. Nothing like what you see in the picture.
The property manager is a liar! She will continuously brush off all maintenance requests. I have been here a year and been nothing but issues after issues. Apartments are infested with roaches and to have anything fixed in your place is pulling teeth.. they will do a horrible job and then you’ll never hear from them again. You will get threatening text messages to “obey” orders and there is absolutely NO safety here.. doors left open, packages stolen, mail went through… and guess what? PROPERTY MANAGER DOESNT CARE. do not ever move here and experience what I am right now.
So when I saw these apartments online I saw a wonderful opportunity, it was near my college, affordable, and it looked really nice with on-site parking. When I put down my name, the landlord and I started to talk about the studio apartment she said to hold the apartment I would have to put down 400 dollars and that it would be part of the down payment of the security deposit and one month rent. What she DID not tell me was that it was non refundable. So when I went down to sign the lease… I saw the place and it looked NOTHING like the photos! There was even a shifty man picking up sharp objects I didn’t even want to get out of my car because I feared for my safety. When I texted the landlord I asked if I could get my money back but she refused saying it was non refundable. I still haven’t gotten my money but I am writing this to warn others to not go with this apartment. Learn from my mistake.
I've lived here for 2 years, biggest regret ever! The walls are thin from side to side and top. My family is sleep deprived, management doesn't do anything about complaints. Dog poop in hallway. So happy to be moving out.
I’m sleep deprived at this point. The walls are paper thin. There is no privacy. Every word you whisper you can expect your neighbors to hear. There is no hot water. There has been no hot water since they turned the heat on. Heat and hot water is “included,” but in the winter months, don’t expect the landlord to supply both. Every morning we wake up and take freezing cold showers. Maintenance has been “working on it” for months now, but “can’t figure out what’s wrong.” You can’t adjust your own thermostat. The landlord controls the heat. You’re either sweating in your (not) sleep or your freezing cold calling the health inspector over. This place is a nightmare.
The walls are thin, you can pretty much hear what people are saying in their apartment, I live on the first floor, My family and I haven't gotten sleep in a month (new tenants move in upstairs with a child), the reason is because the walls are thin and no carpet for unknown reason. We hear every drop, scream, steps and more from upstairs; management is absent. The heating thermostat is broken, so basically you don't control it, usually have to open the window. The windows are prehistoric, it's not well insulated, air comes in from everywhere, and if you live by the main road like I do; you won't get any sleep during summertime from the loud and high-speed cars. There's no hot water sometimes, I guess it can't handle the number of people using it. The water is sometimes yellow so beware. In all, if you are single and want to save some money for a while until you can find a better place; this is the place for you!
This building is good for the price. Its in a bad area, but because of neighborhood watch, it is safe, clean, and quiet. It could be cleaner, esp. outside, which tends to collect paper, litter. The pool is no longer in service, and is an eyesore. There is plenty of parking, and assigned parking. My apartment, this side of building, faces green are..grass and trees, and each 2nd and third apartment has a nice balcony.Lots of birds to enjoy. Although it is in very good area of town, there is a city low income housing developement across the street, and another very bad condo are across the way. However, this apartment building is safe. There is a city bus that passes by on a daily schedule. Both of the doors are broken in this building, no longer lock, so it is not a secure building anymore, The outside is very well lit at night. There is a mix of different races living here, also ages single and married with children. They allow cats here, which is 1 reason why I chose it.
Doesn't look pretty but we made the home, I will live here if apply...
