Property Ratings at Oakbrook Manor
Terrible place to live, RUDE staff, drugs everywhere (the staff participates in the drug deals), UNSAFE, NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY, HAZARDOUS PLACE TO LIVE.
I have been a tenant for over two months and have met many who have been here for years. An older 28 building complex (270 units) built during the 1970s, the interior is well maintained, but does shows signs of age as to cabinetry, etc. A very park like setting. Maintenance is responsive, but you might have to wait a few days for a non emergency item (like a broken light switch). There are many restrictions in their lease, but most are not strictly enforced. Mostly there to have a legal upper hand in kicking troublesome tenants out. Very clean units are provided and people are encouraged to make them their homes. Things like paint rooms to the color of one's liking, establish gardens around outside opening units, put in small nails for photos, etc. As to paint it just has to be returned to neutral white if leaving and small nail or screw holes patched over. Many families with kids playing outside are here. This is a good, safe, apartment complex.
The secretary in the office treats everyone like trash! She is rude and disrespectful to tenants and to guests. She allows her children to terrorize the ducks and their babies that live on the property. She is the main reason why Oakbrook Manor is a terrible place to live. In addition, maintenance NEVER fixes anything. They took an entire YEAR just to fix a leak in my bathroom ceiling caused by the tenant upstairs. Then I found out that the maintenance staff actually threw out the working papers and told management they fixed it, even though they never even came to my apartment to look at the problem. I could go on and on and list dozens of problems with this place, the maintenance staff, and the secretaries in the office. Long story short: OAKBROOK MANOR APARTMENT COMPLEX IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE!
This complex is a dump!!! The two ladies in the office are rude and nasty and dress like slobs! They fix NOTHING!!! It states in the lease that if something breaks within the apartment it is NOT there responsibility to fix it, you the tenant has to hire someone to fix it. Whether is be the heating/cooking, a door know or a clogged drain. The hallway carpets are trashed and smell awful!!! They give "lease violations" for everything!!! The ladies in the office are useless and the "maintenance staff" and far from qualified to repair anything!! They also raise the rent every year. They only care about getting that monthly rent check and nothing else. Do NOT Rent here!!!! Also as they advertise "community wide wifi" is not true, they do not!! And their fitness center consists of a 20 year old treadmill and a couple of free weights.
I actually love my apartment It's clean and cozy And perfect for me As for the building or the complex itself It is very old And dated Needs a lot of upgrades. But You get what you pay for.
this complex is like any other it has its ups and downs but i have lived here for 18 years and i think its a ok place they work with you on problems the staff is very friendly and they care about their people they rent to close to stores and bus route
It's ok it has great storage space but needs a make over. This is a great safe area and could have full capacity if they were more eye appealing.
