Property Ratings at Palmetto Grove
Would be the perfect place to live if the staff ever followed through on their word. Broken appliances and issues with the apartment are not important. The mailboxes are still broken, trash everywhere, trash bins overflowing, gym closed since move in, nasty laundry room, etc. Small things, but tired of hearing empty promises just to shut us up. Constantly coming up with excuses and promising to get to it soon. Just be aware!
The mailboxes have been broken into regularly for the past 6 months. The office and the postal service know about it, but we still don't have our promised new mailboxes that aren't cheap and easy to break into. A contractor came out to look at our windows and sliding door because we were having a major bug problem. He said they were all old and warped out of place and should all be replaced immediately. Haven't heard anything since.
I have had a great experience. I really enjoy how quiet the area with which I live is.
I enjoy the quiet community and the location is great, very close to mall, Walmart, groceries, and pet stores. The community is pet friendly and we enjoy the large patio. The floor-plans make the smaller spaces feel larger than they are.
It is a very quiet community that is close to lots of shops and restaurants. The apartment is very spacious and feels cozy! The parking availability is great and the community is clean.
Average apartments with okay staff and okay maintenance. You get what you pay for and thats apparent here. Not horrible but not the best either. Just be prepared to call the leasing office a LOT to make sure they are getting things that you need done completed cause they seem to be forgetful.
palmetto groves appartments is the best place to live
When I moved here 4 years ago, location was my biggest concern..Perfect location here..Office staff is quick to respond to any concerns..thank you guys..
We like it here except for the break ins but other than that we have no problems
Great place to live despite what people say . Good rent rate and amenities and easy access to shopping malls and grocery stores
Palmetto Grove would be a nice place to live if the maintenance issues were addressed in a timely manner. Concerns brought to the leasing staff by residents were taken seriously and not just thrown under the rug for the sake of saying its been addressed. I am very unsatisfied with the management staff of Palmetto Grove.
Palmetto grove is overall a nice community but the office staff and property management seem to not of the interest of their residents on their minds.
Palmetto Grove is a lovely neighborhood. The units are clean and up to date for a wonderful and affordable price. The only draw back would be the staff: leading and maintenance. Although theyre going through a lot of changes, the staffs professionalism is lacking. There is barely any communication and its always initiated on my behalf. I have to constantly check up on work orders and not one work order has been completed since moving in. My dishwasher was overflowing and the maintenance manager asked me is this really an emergency? because it was after hours. Once he completed the request, he chastised me like a child. Completely unprofessional!
I am in love with my apartment it's very nice inside and out, i have friendly neighbors and it's very quiet and the lady's. In the office are super sweet and super nice, they had made me feel like i was really family
I was satisfied with the words but dissatisfied because there was no action then and action know.
This place is a good place to live. I always felt home and family. The only reason I am leaving is that I just purchased a home. They will always listen to you politely and they are quick to respond to any of your maintenance request and any other request you may have. I have had a great experience living in the complex and, there is no doubt in my mind, I will highly recommend this place and the leasing team.
I've lived at Palmetto Grove for five years now and I have enjoyed it greatly. It is relatively quiet and safe. It is conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. The staff is quite friendly and helpful and maintenance is usually quick to respond. The apartment I got was designed with wide doors for a disabled person, which has worked out great for me since I am disabled. I'm on the ground floor and have easy access to the apartment, the dumpsters, and the mailboxes via my Hoverround.
I think the living experience at Palmetto Grove could be improved once the staff make the care of their residents the main priority. Once that is done, I think this apartment complex would be one of the best in North Charleston. My move in process was the worse experience ever & I was 100% ready to break my lease. There was entirely too much miscommunication and too much false information. I was told different information several times from 3 different staff members. Since then, I must say Bri and Liz have been lifesavers and they are the only reason why I havent bought out of my lease so far. However, Im not pleased with the amount of bugs that I see in my apartment on a daily. Although Ive been told pest control has sprayed my apartment, it doesnt seem that way. I know for a fact I didnt bring the bugs with me because my previous apartment complex made sure pest control came out to the apartments religiously. Ive even considered that the bugs may be a issue because I live on the first floor. On another note, I felt very neglected and blindsided by Palmetto Grove early on. Since my move in day & since my initial issues have been addressed, I feel a little better but I cant help to think of what may happen in the future & I think I have every right to feel this way because of the amount of money I pay each month and considering the length of my lease. I was extremely excited about being apart of the Palmetto Grove family but I was disappointed entirely too early on so now I dont know how to feel about the complex. Liz asked me to please be patient with them and to give them another chance to get things right so Im trying to do that. Hopefully I have a more positive response the next time Im asked about my living experience at Palmetto Grove.
Great apartment complex, kept clean and maintenance request are handled in a timely manner.
Palmetto Grove is one of the cheaper complexes to find housing, and you get what you pay for. There are too many units for the staff to manage adequately, and they are out of touch with the state of their units. The untouched apartments smell like old motels, and they stretch the definition of "renovation" for their "renovated" apartments (new carpet and new cabinet faces but no extra space, and maybe a microwave oven). The staff largely stays out of your business unless you owe them money. Overall not terrible, but plenty of room for improvement.
So I been their over a year and still can’t pay my rent online. The lady put in a request she said and that was 3 weeks ago and still haven’t heard anything. Things in my apartment are steady breaking off the mold on the windows are ridiculous. They said it’s the insulation and weather change but friends I have met here in Charleston say they don’t have that issue where they stay. I wanted to renew my lease without my ex and was told multiple times I can’t renew it just under my name unless I moved. Then was told by management that was a lie. I don’t know if they don’t like me or if I complain to much but it doesn’t matter I pay my rent on time soooooo!! The only thing I do like is the size of my apartment! Love, RAVEN
While I've only been here two months I can say that this team has went above and beyond when it comes to communication and getting the job done with any issues within the complex. There are things I wish were functional like the small car care center they have on site, the last time I checked it was a pretty old set up and far from operational. One thing that has struck a nerve is the most recent change in the color of the buildings. Upon returning from a small vacation I arrived to my building only to see that it was a completely different color. For a second I thought I may have turned into the wrong complex and once looking around I noticed that the entire complex had been slapped with a dreary color (gray). For myself one of things that caught my eye prior to moving in was the aesthetic of grounds as well the eye popping color of each individual building which gave it character. The complex pretty much looks like every other complex in the area now, if not even more bland. This is not to deter anyone from moving into this complex however I am hoping that this review catches the eye of a Bell Apartment Living team member just so they can see its the small things that matter and go a long way.
I've lived here for a little over a year, and I absolutely love this place! I feel comfortable and safe, and will be staying here until I purchase a house, however long that may take me! The maintenance staff is wonderful and the timing to get things fixed is outstanding, and if something has to be ordered, they let me know a time frame! The office staff is a delight to deal with, and they are very good about letting me know when I have a package! My favorite thing is my vaulted ceilings...which make my apartment feel, not only larger, but more like a house instead of an apartment! I truly lucked out when I found this place! Def would refer anyone and everyone I know!
I've been here for a year already. Leasing office is filled with wonderful and helpful staff. Maintaince people are on point and nice. Best part is that it's affordable. Updated appliances. Decent space. Thank god they power washed the buildings they look 100x better! I can now say I'm proud to live here. Neighborhood is quiet. Only thing I wish they'd update is the air conditioning units. LOVE the location. 5 seconds from any store imaginable and the highway. They've really been working hard on getting this place in shape from the last owners.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a safe well kept apartment complex. It had to be in a good location between goose creek, mt. pleasant, and Charleston. We were glad to have found Palmetto Grove apartments on St. Ives rd in North Charleston! The staff is wonderful and responsive, it is 1/2 mile from the entrance to 26 and 1 mile from the mall, yet still has bike trails near by! :) The apartments are inexpensive and in great shape. We noted that there was a smell of somekind in the apartment, and completely replaced the carpet that week for us!! This place is wonderful and HOOAH!
I lived in this apartment complex for two years and as of three weeks ago I have moved out THANK GOD. Within the first year I was broken into and rob which they stole all of my Christmas presents for my son and myself. The police were very nice and pleasant to work with, however the apartment complex not so much. My now wife (girlfriend at the time) was frequently harassed by thugs hanging around the apartments in the dark areas (there are many) on two occasions she had to pull out her pepper spray. The first time she was leaving my apartment around 6:30 A.M. to go to work. a group of 4 males would not let her pass on the sidewalk and started cat calling her and one of the men tried to grab her and she broke free and ran to her car. The second occasion she had her two sons in my truck and was by the dumpster taking out the trash, when she turned around a man was standing in the driver side door (it was opened) looking into the car at the two boys about to steal the car. Within the two years my apartment was flooded several times and had many maintenance issues. There was also a mold issue with the EXTREMELY old air conditioning unit I had complained about several times and was told it was not the "Bad kind of mold". Oddly enough three weeks after I moved out I no longer had the cough I had had for about three months. Now that I have moved out I was issued a final bill and told that the deposit I had previously had with the company that used to own the apartment is no longer valid because the new company does not recognize that kind of deposit. I don't even want to begin on the "affordable rent" part of this complex. When I first moved in I did move in for the cheap rent ($725) by the time I moved out I was told if I want to renew my lease it would be ($960) give me a break I can rent a nice house for that. If you read this and still rent from this apartment I wish you the best of luck and we will pray for you.
This complex was recently bought out by new owners who have spent a great deal of time updating the complex and making much needed changes.
Nice area, low rent, helpful maintenance and problem free community. You'd be hard pressed to find a better value.
I moved into Palmetto Grove with my friend in March. For the most part it has been a good community. If we need something fixed, they get it done quickly. There is a nice pool, yet they told me before we moved in it was open 24/7, but it closes at 11. They have also since gotten rid of the hot tub. There is a nice workout facility and a business office to use. It is quiet and i have had no problems with the neighbors. Overall it has been a pleasant experience!
