After having lived here for more than 3 years, the property was sold several months ago and has rapidly gone downhill. You can no longer pay your rent online and you have to pay with a certified check. Trying to call the office now takes you to an answering machine that they did not even bother to customize the message on, which doesn't matter since it hangs up the line before you can leave a message anyway. The grounds and general upkeep have also seen a rapid decline.

This apartment is cheap but definitely you shouldn’t choose this. In my room, there are mold, broken dish washer (I’ve never used), broken fan for stove (I told them not to put it since it fell suddenly), swamp in a parking (so we can’t park around rainy day, otherwise you can’t get in a car for a while), and animal in a wall. Also the worst thing in this apartment is that they don’t fix for a while after I asked them. Even when I told them I smelled something in a bathroom, they didn’t show up until I called them 4 times. (And it was a dead rat in a next door) I understand this is an old apartment but that they don’t care makes it worse.

If I could give them no stars I would. Let me start by saying this complex is the WORST place to live. They only maintain the front area near the rental office to attract new tenants but when you get past that you will see how run down this place is. This rental office does not care about keeping your home livable. Honestly, they care more about your rent and not repairs. The place is crawling with bugs. Cockroaches, water bugs, stink bugs, etc. They rarely change the filters in the homes. There is mold on every vent so if you turn your AC on expect to be sick within a few hours. They have a mice infestation. They have come out for mold on the vents and their solution to the problem was to just spray painted it white again. My ceiling collapsed due to water damage which, they are fully responsible for and black mold in the cabinets. Don't expect ANY OF YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK. They will come up with any reasons to not give it back to you. Please beware of all of the issues I have mentioned to you before you decide to rent here because, if you don't this may be the worst decision you will ever make!

Lived here for the past 15 months. Can’t say it’s the worst but it’s definitely far from worth the price. The only saving grace of this place is the location and most of the neighbors are the nicest people and the front office ladies are approachable and helpful when they can be. Most of the issues with Peppertree are out of their control. 1- I definitely moved into an apartment with old carpeting and very poorly insulated doors. Every time it rains all the spiders and water bugs come to find refuge in my apartment. You can literally see spacing around the doors where the bugs can come in. I had to fix that myself. 2- Thank God for Raid! The quarterly maintenance guy must be spraying water in my apartment because it laughable how it has never controlled any pest issue. 3- Maintenance is another joke! Thank you translate app! Only one of maintenance guys speaks English fluently. If you have an issue and you’re trying to explain it, they won’t understand. They have repaired my stove in which 3 of the 4 burners don’t work at least four times instead of replacing it with a new stove. It’s been so frustrating that I’ve grown tired of calling maintenance that I happily purchased my own electric stove top to cook on. So it is my impression that must be standard protocol to always repair and never replace even if it’s an recurring issue. 4- You will always feel safe. The police are always here looking for somebody. I thought they did background checks here..... 5- NO ONE cleans up behind their dogs. My children and I literally have to walk to my car scanning the grass to make sure we’re not stepping in poop. 6- Because there is no playground children are always randomly running around and through the parking lot. 7- It’s a great place to abandon your vehicle! There are at least 2 abandoned cars parked in my area of the parking lot. My husband notified one of the property owners when they visited the property and it’s been months since and the car is still there and it’s been sitting parked here since I moved in. Only God knows how long it’s been sitting there. 8- Be prepared to smell whatever your neighbor is painting, cooking or smoking. I’m not sure how or why but that has been my experience. 9- The pool is more like a puddle. Overall Peppertree is just like all the rest of the outdated apartment complexes in Charlotte, doing the barely minimum to get the maximum dollar out of you :-)

Peppertree has been a great place to live! The ladies in the office have been extremely nice and helpful and any issues or questions I have had have all been addressed in a timely manner. Great value and location with easy access to plaza mid wood and uptown. Highly recommend to anyone!

My boyfriend and I moved to Peppertree in December 2015 and at first it was good but now I am just ready for my lease to be over which is in February. There is not enough parking, you hear sirens EVERY SINGLE NIGHT so I am used to it now and the apartment itself needs upgrading. The prices these apartments are going for are NOT WORTH IT! The appliances are old. I haven't been here one year yet and maintenance has been here AT LEAST five times smh. The rent office they are rude they just don't care about anything. Once February get here I will be so happy!
I go to sleep to the sound ppl arguing and fighting outside at least 3 times a week. Gun shots and ppl cursing. Police sirens all the time. Leasing office is a joke. They never answered there phone. And will leave you with no ac in the summer. This neighborhood has gone down but their prices have gone up 250 or more but they haven't remodeled anything no new anything. Don't waste your time or money here.
Built in the 1970s, this complex is not ADA friendly. The water pressure is low and water bills are high. The staff is most friendly but the buildings are way date-weary.
Large living room with old fashioned wood burning fireplace. Bedrooms are on opposite ends of the apartment with the kitceh in between so gives great privacy to roommates. Bathrooms are separate and private also! Complex painted a country green with brown trim. Very homey feeling!
The location is good and quiet. The maintenance people take their time to fix things.
