A quiet residential area, the Westwood neighborhood can be found northwest of the city center by three miles. Because it sits close to US Highway 131 and 43, the community provides a convenient neighborhood to enjoy daily life while remaining close to the city and within easy distance of Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan. Because Kalamazoo sits halfway between Chicago and Detroit, reaching those larger cities via Interstate 94 continues to be easy.
One of the things Kalamazoo has become nationally known for, the Kalamazoo Promise provides a four-year scholarship for all graduates of Kalamazoo Public Schools who have spent at least their high school years in the school system. In addition to the community college, Western Michigan University and the private Kalamazoo College call the city home. There are affordable rentals ranging from single-family homes to modern apartments.

Best place, affordable prices,quite and relaxing area, great maintenance, quick response, very friendly staff and helpful people! I definitely recommend this place!
This is by far the best apartment I’ve lived in so far. Close to everything without being right on a busy road. Our unit was newly refurbished when we moved in with brand new carpet and appliances. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Snow removal was always done before I left work. High quality apartment at an affordable price. Would definitely recommend.
I moved in in 2013 and was very happy here under the old manager Judy. She retired and the new manager is running this place into the ground. She’s rude, doesn’t enforce any rules in lease, lets the grounds look disgusting and the two so-called maintenance workers are rude and incompetent. They don’t do anything, and can be seen just sitting in their vehicles have taken over a year to do repairs then throw a fit when they finally have to do it. One constantly fights with his live in woman and has caused such chaos the police have been called multiple times. I’ve gone from recommending this place to warning against it.
Pinewood Glen used to be a great place to live in at the time of Judy and Tracy but not any more at the current time with Becky and Sandra. Maintaince order can be delayed for weeks until you hear back from them. They do not seem to care about the urgent needs of tenants.
Pinewood Glen has by far been the best place I've lived in the Kalamazoo area. It is budget friendly and quality apartments. The maintenance staff are prompt and professional. If you have a complaint about anything regarding the apartment, the maintenance and leasing staff will do whatever they can to resolve that concern. These apartments are in a great location. They are just far enough from the main road that they are very quiet, but close enough to everything you could need and downtown attractions. The management staff are always approachable, awesome to work with, and really care about the apartments and making sure their residents are happy!
I lived here for 3.5 years and never had an issue with the complex. The staff, management and maintenance, were always very friendly and quick to meet to our needs. Despite being in a busy area of town the complex is very quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend checking it out.
My husband and I lived at the Pinewood Glen Apartments for about 7 months and we completely loved it! Judy and Lee are amazing management! The maintenance guys are pretty awesome too! If you have any issues, they always send someone to fix your problem as soon as possible! I had a friend who needed to find a place to live as soon as possible and they were able to get her in same day! The maintenance men stayed after hours to get her apartment sent up for her even though it was a holiday weekend! The people at Pinewood Glen truly care about the people in the buildings! The apartments are wonderful and you definitely get the most "bang for your buck" here. The apartments are ready to go as soon as you get the keys! They make sure the apartments are super clean! I would recommend Pinewood Glen to anyone who is looking for an apartment in the area! It's nice and quiet, and who wouldn't want to rent from such friendly people?
I've lived at Pinewood Glen Apartments for the past 8 years - that, in & of itself, should lend itself towards confirming that being a resident here has been a very positive experience. The location is great - while being close to downtown, you're not actually IN downtown (the complex has more of a "rural", secluded feel to it, with a nature trail at the back of the property). While being close to Western Michigan University, you are not actually right next it. The latter was an important consideration for me. My place of employment is next to the university's engineering building, so I wanted to be close - but not close enough (and not at a price point) where college kids would be lining up to rent alongside me. I'm no longer in my twenties and I'm OK with that. :) Speaking of price point, rent at Pinewood Glen is reasonable, on-point for the area (esp. considering the square footage of the units) and hasn't undergone hefty annual rent hikes (increases have been modest). Trash disposal is included in the rent & monthly water costs are a flat-fee based upon whether you are renting a one- or two-bedroom unit. Utilities (gas & electric) are separate and not included in the rent. Covered car ports are available for an extra monthly fee and, in my opinion, more than pay themselves come winter time (not having to scrape my windshield & dig my vehicle out from under a foot of snow before leaving for work is a HUGE plus). Other amenities which add value are a stacking washer/dryer in each apartment unit (a very big consideration for me because of its obvious convenience), walk-in closets, central A/C & the fact that each building utilizes intercom-controlled security access (non-residents have to be buzzed in by a resident in order to gain entry - a great safety feature). Ground floor units have outdoor patios, while 2nd- and 3rd-floor units have balconies. The last "amenity" is the best one of all - and that's the staff. The manager of the Leasing Office is WONDERFUL - attentive, friendly, efficient & takes the time to get to know the residents. Same goes for the office assistant - personable, knows you by name & is there for any kind of need or concern. Maintenance is swift & effective - the guys really do a good job. Absolutely no complaints - a great place to live!
