The Highlands/Perkins neighborhood of Baton Rouge is located just south of downtown, nestled into the curves of the Mississippi River. A relatively upscale area, Highlands/Perkins offers a range of mid-rise apartments and single-family homes that showcase the best the Bayou State has to offer. A convenient location just across Interstate 10 from Downtown Baton Rouge means residents will always be close to the action. The neighborhood is also home to Louisiana State University, and there’s a welcome youthful energy courtesy of the campus and its students. There are diverse cuisines to explore including Cajun and Creole foods near the university and just off the interstate. Breweries have sprung up near the river and there are well-maintained parks to explore both near the water and closer to Downtown Baton Rouge.

Hi! we are sorry you are having a bad experience! We do offer complimentary pest control that you can register your unit on in the office. Another way to get rid of a pest problem is by keeping a neat and tidy apartment. Also regarding our rents we feel that if our rents were truly terribly high that you wouldnt have moved in to begin. Please let of office staff know if there is anything else we can do to assist you.
Only thing i don't like about this apartment is the maintenance but that is made up for the fact that is has a pool!
I’ve been loving here for about 2.5 years now. When first moving here it took them months to get a dryer installed (which should’ve been done before moving in). I had to call several times, then my balcony completely fell apart due to weather (completely out of my control). Put in a maintenance request and to this day still have yet to get it fixed. It’s going on a year of me constantly calling, putting in back to back request and even contacting corporate. Nobody cared. Maintenance is horrible. Orlando, Sierra, Steve and Rena do not care. I’ve waited months for a new dishwasher after putting in multiple request. I couldn’t cook in my kitchen at all. When I went to the front for the final and last time, both maintenance and Orlando told me that the dishwasher that were ordered were put in other units when I have been waiting months for one…. I strongly suggest you look somewhere else. Especially for the price when the only thing that has changed is the color or the building. My hot water stopped working and nothing was done about that. Bottom line if you want anything done be expecting to wait some months. It’s not worth your money, corporate and staff are horrible and rude. If I could give zero stars I would.
If I could give this apartment 0 stars I would! Maintenance is terrible and take forever to do anything. The office workers are rude they are always trying to get over on you and they never answer the phone!
I lived here for 2 years with my two roommates, during which time the management company and most of the staff changed about 7 months in. In the beginning everything was fine, the staff were nice and helpful and we only had a few issues- one with a neighbor's dog which was handled quickly by the staff and our dishwasher and AC broke which was fixed quickly by maintenance. However with the new management, which is current as of this review, everything went wrong. Our hot water heater had to be replaced which took about a month, and the office manger let us use a neighboring apartment to shower and everything but literally told me she had no idea when it would be replaced. The ceiling above our AC leaked and it took two maintenance requests and calling the office to get it fixed. Then our AC went out in August(literally had a solid sheet of ice over it) and they put in one window unit in the living room while it thawed for a few days and then they came back and "fixed" it. It was still not working and in total we had no central AC for about two weeks. IN AUGUST. Then our oven broke and had to be fixed, one of our toilets had a leak, and one of our bathtubs has a crack that they said was an issue and then never fixed. But the worst was our sink started leaking water to the point where we had standing water in our kitchen and dining room. We called maintenance out three times for this and each time they supposedly found the problem and fixed it and then a few days later it would leak again. Turns out there were leaks in the pipes in the walls, so our kitchen cabinets and sink had to be taken out and drywall (moldy drywall since the leak had been going on for MONTHS) ripped out. It took over a week and me calling multiple times to get this resolved. The staff and maintenance seem like nice people, but do not do their jobs well. The complex itself is run down and not up kept and has gotten progressively more shady in the two years we've been here. No complex is perfect and maintenance issues happen, but for the price you can get a much nicer apartment somewhere else
This is a very nice and safe place to live. It’s very peaceful. I have never had any issues since I’ve lived here. Maintenance are always there and will come fix any problems with no hesitation!
This place is a solid place to live. The maintenance staff and the front desk are very responsive. The apartments are well kept and the property is well maintained. The price is an incredible deal for the location basically right in the middle of Baton Rouge.
I moved to Baton Rouge almost 2 years ago and have lived here ever since. These apartments are reasonably priced and in a great location. My boyfriend goes to LSU and I work on Florida Blvd and it's a close enough distance for both of us to have no problems. It's also close to many restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The staff is always very friendly and they not only let you have pets, but actually enjoy interacting with them when you come by the office, which is a major plus. I would definitely recommend this place!
I’ve lived here for a year and love it here compared to many apartments I’ve lived in. The staff is great and any issue I’ve ever had has been fixed or addressed same day. Pet friendly, safe place. The lofts are very spacious and a great price for the size.

I've lived here since 2015 and just signed another lease. It's perfect distance to LSU and walmart and it's never loud or crazy like you'd think it would be being so close to campus. It's affordable. I've become awesome friends with the staff. It's become a true home here!! <3 10/10 recommend!!

These apartments are nicely priced, and convenient for college kids. But the management sucks. The staff is ignorant and if they don't like you they will leave lease violations at your door often. I have had so many problems with maintenance, when he lives right next door. I have gotten multiple 'lease violations' notices at my door for cigarette butts and my car had a small oil leak and they are making me clean up the oil off the concrete in the parking lot and charging me $50 for any new stains. Yet my neighbors have piles of trash on their porch and have never received a lease violation. My ceiling started leaking in June they didn't do anything about it till November and I fear if I wouldn't have called and emailed so much it would have never been repaired. When I first moved in their was roaches everywhere. I am a VERY clean person, they sent pest control multiple times after me complaining so much. There were tiny roaches all over for about 7 months out of my year lease. Just recently the pest control came and the roaches haven't returned. They have lost my packages more than once. They are constantly looking for ways to charge me. I will not be renewing my lease. I can't wait to move out this horrible complex.
I have lived at this apt for the past year, and I've recently resigned my lease. I love the apt. My husband and I have never had any issues with maintenance or attitudes of the staff. The apartments are a little old, but they've been maintained well, and the price of rent is affordable. The location is great. I feel like I'm 10 minutes or less away from anywhere I need to go in Baton Rouge.
I came to baton rouge from a small town called Houma, La. To come to LSU. It was my first time moving out on my own and didnt know what to expect. I did months of research and riding around talking to apartment complexes. It was super stressful reading so many negative reviews from everyone. I felt like either there was no good place to live, or people were just super critical and salty about something. Not only was apartments.com one of the most helpful websites i could find out there, but it helped me find Place Du Plantier. When i visited the staff was so friendly! I fell in love with the loft style floorplan and the price was pretty decent! 750$ rent split between my bf and I plus our internet, car insurance, food, and energy bill leaves me paying around 500$ a month. That was just in my range being a college student. Its RIGHT by the bus route so i didn't need a parking pass either. But the most important thing to me was that im in a really safe place. Theres a cop who lives right next door to me. The complex is well lit up. The maintenance men are extremely kind, friendly, and on their game. I never have to wait more than a day for them to fix anything. Its not loud and filled with noisy, messy, college students getting drunk or throwing parties either. Overall im saying this is a pretty nice place to live, guys. Its not luxury apartments, but it's not at all as bad as some of those crazy reviews you read. If it's in your price range i would say give place du plantier a try.
