Property Ratings at Royal Mills Apartments
I live in the North Tower at Royal Mills. The grounds and building are overall pretty cool. It's an old mill building that was converted with a sky bridge that crosses the Providence River. Lots of open spaces, nice common areas. The building is quiet. The hallways fairly clean. The maintenance staff is pretty attentive. My unit is nice: hardwood floors, washer dryer, dishwasher, large windows, updated look/feel. Heat and hot water is included. The building has an elevator and a parking garage. Overall, considering I park in the garage, I have a washer and dryer, and heat and hot water is included - and the rent is reasonable - gotta give this place 5 stars. There is one thing that slightly sucks - which is that there is no real visitor parking. There is parking across the street - which is well lit and fairly secure - but it is a pain to have to asks guests to park there. But - considering all the other features - it's that big a deal.
120 year old textile mill on the banks of the Pawtuxet River, Royal Mills was repurposed as a rental community in 2006. I moved here in 2012 and am very satisfied. Our apartment is roughly 1800 square feet and is comprised of a main living area, kitchen, small dining area, master bedroom with private bath, guest bedroom and guest bath and "brick room" that we use as an office/den area. Ceiling height is approximately 17 feet. All of this is on the first floor with a door that opens to a pathway to the river. Heat is included in the rent and our vehicles are parked in an indoor parking garage. The community is comprised of two buildings. The oldest constructed of local granite during the late 1800's. The second building, and the one that I live in, was built in 1920 and is constructed of brick. The buildings are on opposite sides of the river and are linked by an enclosed bridge spanning the river at the top floors. I use it on a regular basis in order to get me to the gym for my workouts during the winter months. Our gym is located in the main building. The only draw back to Royal Mills is the guest parking. It is basically non-existent. Guests have to park across the street at a bike path parking lot and make a 5 minute walk to our building. Other than that, this is a great place to live.
