Property Ratings at Sagewood Apartments
I lived in this apartment complex for 2 years, and overall, it was a decent experience. The convenient location made it easy to access shops and transportation. Having a personal garage was definitely a plus, and the large kitchen was great for cooking. However, the process of moving out was quite a hassle. They send your renewal notice in the mail, so if you don't get it you're auto-renewed for the next year and the rent increase, don't even try calling the property management company, they wont answer or return your call. I had to reach out to the property manager on site to get an actual contact for them. The property manager never showed for a tour for a potential renter so I had to give the tour and save the deal for them. They do not do your move out inspection until a day after you've moved out. They are very nit picky, such as dusting the top of water heaters and shelves. They do give you the option to come back and fix it to get your deposit back which is nice but also a hassle, just do the inspection right then and there to get it over with. Overall, its an okay place just make sure you have all of your ducks in a row when ready to move out and note EVERYTHING on your move in sheet or you will be charged.
I’ve been living here since Oct 2016. I love it here, best apartment I’ve ever lived in. There’s no bugs or mice and the complex is very clean. Steve the landlord is very nice and transparent. He cares about his tenants. The office is fair and will work with you on any issues. But most importantly, this complex is very diverse. Expect majority of the people to greet you with a smile and a “how are you doing?”
These are fairly new apartments. I moved here in December 2015. Apartment offers no amenities whatsoever. Only pro is cheap electric bill since heating is radiant heat. Sometimes radiant becomes to hot and you will need to turn it off and it will still be hot even with the heat off. Property has no maintenance only a grounds curator and good luck trying to get anything fixed if he is unavailable or on vacation. Property will not allow grilling on balcony with an electric grill. Property also does not allow decorations on the balcony at all. Curator tries to intimidate tenants. When moving out they expect squeaky clean apartment. If you have kids don't move here they will charge you $80 dollars for carpet stains and curator will label you as negligent. If you so happen to bring home bed bugs and notify them they will hire an exterminator and charge you to treat your apartment as well as all other apartments within your building. I was charged $600 plus dollars for that incident. If you forget to clean something they will charge you. They expect even dust to be cleaned off from light bulb covers any where in the apartment. They also frown upon holes on the walls even if you want to secure furniture to the walls for safety purposes. Management rude and labeled me as allowing a bed bug infestation into the unit. The bed bug incident was not my fault since my little son brought them home from Pre-K. It could happen to anyone despite being clean and clutter less. I was able to get rid of them with the help of the exterminators as well. We were able to eliminate the issue before it became an infestation because their were only about 6 that I found. Spoke to curator and he blamed me for being negligent and said I brought them in to the apartment since I told him I had issues with bed bugs when I lived in Milwaukee and he decided to tell me that I brought them with me. Before I moved to these apartments I moved from Milwaukee to Westchester apartments and disposed all the furniture and purchased new furniture when I moved to Westchester. So It was impossible for me to bring them over since this is not where I lived first. Bed bug incident happened in 2019. They don't do a good job of snow removal. Can't throw bug items in the trash or they will charge you $150.
