I have lived here for one year and I honestly do not have anything positive to say about the property. The hallways are FILTHY and smell terribly all of the time. The walls are really thin -- I can hear everything my upstairs neighbors are doing, to the point where I need to wear earplugs every night. Some of the apartments are renovated, but these renovations were very poorly done, and on top of this, repairs take WEEKS to get done, even if it's something small. As far as management goes, the employees are nice to your face, but they don't really care. On top of all of this, I've had multiple packages stolen at this community, despite the property being "secure", which can only mean that other residents/your own neighbors are thieves.

This place is probably the worst run complex that I have ever lived at, & I know I am not the only resident that feels this way. Repairs takes FOREVER and then it is usually in need of being repaired again. I was also told the incorrect offer upon moving in by about 10 different people, this should have been a red flag going in, but I guess I am a glutton for my own punishment. When I moved here the office didn't know there were recycle bins in the garage, & I was given incorrect answers by the staff which included: "we don't have any recycle bins," "they are located by the mailbox," and "just throw your recycles in the regular trash & the garbage men take them out." All of which are incorrect, it took me asking the garbage men where they were to find out we actually have 2 recycle bins in the complex, which are hardly used b/c nobody knows about them. Carpeting in the common hallways is gross and stained, pedestrian gates and garage gates are ALWAYS broken, multiple apartments flood here when it rains, the garage floods when it rains, the pipes in the garage leak sewer water all over and then the water stays on the ground until it evaporates, countless rats are scurrying around the complex, glad we pay a monthly charge for pest control, and I have even seen them crawl INTO the BBQ by the community firepit, which happens to be broken and does not automatically turn off and hasn't for 3 years - seems like a fire hazard if you ask me. The fire alarms are constantly going off, the office said they are broken and being repaired, guess they've been broken for years on end now, not sure they were ever fixed, but I highly doubt they will be fixed. The fire escape doors are always being propped open with trash and cardboard and are a tripping hazard on top of that. Asking for any kind of repairs requests seem to be an inconvenience to the office and it's staff, as if why should we be bothering them to do their jobs and repair the broken items in my apartment. I should just be fortunate to have to fork over 2/3 of my monthly income for a broken unit, shut up and be happy I have a leaky roof above my head. If I were you, I'd look elsewhere. Don't give away your hard earned money to this place, this company, and this building as you really are treated like day old donuts here.
I am a U.S. Army veteran and most of my friends/colleagues are all veterans. We tend to recommend and live in areas referred to by the VA networks. You?re community is lovely and I am really considering moving there next Monday (if unit Gary showed is available for a lower-similar price), but I don?t think I can refer this area to the VA network because there is no military/veteran discount.
I think it's a great community with relevant features and amenities for my lifestyle.
Would rate this a 3.5 overall. Good value to what is received in terms of amenities and accommodations. But with the caveat that sometimes we would have to follow up with requests or services more proactively.
Lack of technology upgrade such as Apple Pay for the communal laundromat. Using only coins is obsolete in most apartment communities.
Problems fixed same day as reported. Workers were friendly and helpful and professional.
Even though the maintenance team tried their best, but the problem has just come back a couple of days ago. My wife let me know that she started to be bothered by the exhaust fan of the neighbor's bathroom next door again. It's the combination of sound and vibration in the quiet night that gives her headaches. I hope we could do something else to stop that. Maybe replace the exhaust fan with a new one? (The one in my wife's bathroom is also really loud as well). Regards,
In the last three years I have had some excellent service and some poor service. One observation, I have seen for example a lady and her small kids stepping through water pools in the garage to get into and out of her vehicle. The pools were due to rain and maintenance to repair a major pipe in the area. The pools were very long standing. I think they stayed a year and moved. I would move too if every day I have to walk through a pool of water to my car. This is a garage, not outside parking. I see the same in other areas of the garage, pools of water long standing. Pool should be drained by vacuum or otherwise and the water dried up fast. Leaks into garage after rain should be corrected and removed. I presume mosquitoes reproduce in these pools too.
Why I would not recommend: - No referral fee is offered to agents. - The surrounding amenities and vibe are very industrial feeling. - Unit I saw was slightly outdated. (popcorn ceiling, carpet...) - Leasing agent wasn't responsive and not a pleasure to work with. Why I would recommend: - Good price range. - Plenty of availability options. - Clean and well-maintained complex. - Nice pool areas.
I would because I genuinely like the layout, the community, and staff members. Maintenance I can understand since we are in weird times and I know how busy they can be with other urgent requests.
We have had the same issue with a previous request taking a long time for a reply. Once the request is being addressed, the maintenance staff is great.
The previous maintenance staff (pre-COVID) was fantastic, but ever since the pandemic started and new maintenance staff was hired it has been difficult to have a straight forward maintenance experience.
The timeliness of resolving the maintenance request was not optimal. It took over 2 weeks for resolution. I had to call twice, and go into the leasing office to bring it up in person before it was resolved. Other than the timeliness of fulfilling the request, the communication and resolution was professional, and the issue was quickly diagnosed.
My wife and I have found that the overall appearance and quality (including cleanliness, etc.) of our complex has gone down quite a bit over the years. Our understanding was that only small pets were allowed in Sofi. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I can certainly say that we have noticed quite a few larger dogs in the complex (including some individuals with at least 2 very large dogs). I truly believe this will have a negative effect on the hygiene and cleanliness of the complex.
I would likely recommend because its affordable and convenient .

It seems very peaceful and friendly. The in-unit washer/dryers is also a huge plus.

so far the most affordable in the area, the "upgraded" units are definitely nicer than the non-upgraded ones.
The leasing professionals at Sofi Irvine were very friendly and caring. Tina gave my fiance and I a great tour of the community and answered all of our questions thoroughly. She even followed up with us about sending additional vidoes links on different floor plans that we wanted to see. Gary is also very professional and friendly, and helped us with our application. We would definitely recommend this community to others.
Not sure where these 5 star reviews are coming from but if you want an honest review, here it is. Stay away! Management absolutely will ignore you if you have any questions or concerns. Neighbors are super noisy here and the walls are thin. The 1 bedroom apartment is TINY for what you pay. I only renewed my lease because it was during pandemic but I have been counting down the days until I move out...

Overall I enjoy my days at my apartment. It's close to work and lots of restaurants. Sound proof is above the average, and rent is very competitive. I never lost a package or a mail. In the future, I hope there could be more comprehensive details on move-out charges. In addition, I don't think this is something that bothers me everyday, but a lot of my neighbors seem not to know where to recycle their cupboards, so they just piled them up in the trash chute, which could be disturbing sometimes.
I really liked living at Sofi Irvine. Clean, safe, well maintained. I moved for personal reasons but I will definitely be back. Thanks for a great year Sofi Irvine! See you again soon!!

SOFI is one of the more budget friendly options in the area and covers all of the necessities. While the amenities are not at the level of other local complexes, the value is there for what you are paying.
I would recommend this Apartment community to anyone. We have lived here almost 3 years it is very clean and well maintained. Very quiet community and neighbors are very friendly. We have grown to love the location it is very accessible to a variety markets and restaurants. The font office and all the staff and crew have been so amazing through our time here. Maintenance does a great job to fix problems right away and the cleaning crew are so thorough and very nice and professional. We appreciate Jennifer the site manager. She has been so wonderful. Also we love that we are right across from the back bay trails that lead to some beautiful parks. Love it here
Sergio and his partner (I think Ricardo!) did such an amazing job quickly identifying the problem with our dryer - they knew the issue almost instantly! - and offering a quick solution. In such sensitive times with social distancing, he did a great job of explaining what safety precautions he was taking for us. I couldn't have felt more comfortable having them in our home and am so grateful for their expertise and help, which helped us get back to normal as quickly as possible!
I would recommend for apartment features, space, location, price, and leasing professional experience. Only downside is that Cox seems to be the only nearby ISP and Cox is the most expensive ISP while providing some of the worst connection speeds/data limits/user experiences. (This was important to me as I do a lot of work from home with overseas developers)
5 stars for Sergio, 4 stars for Sofi as a community overall simply because things are a bit outdated compared to newer properties so it's not a fit for friends who are looking for a bigger gym with fitness classes, EV charging stations, high/no popcorn ceilings, etc. We still love it though and would be happy to renew another year.
The response to reported apartment problem was prompt and the service fix readily solved the problem. There was also an explanation of problem's cause/s and suggestion of how not to encounter the same issue in the future. I think the service staff's name is (?)Roberto; he's very competent and knowledgeable of the issue the minute he entered my apartment.
Deposit was exorbitant & I was not allowed the option of switching to a 2-bedroom apartment without losing it. Highly inconvenient not to be allowed switching to a more expensive apartment within the same complex.
Neighbors above us are extremely loud... parties almost every weekend but nothing is done about it. Also, no one monitors the pool area at night so there have been on the weekends up till midnight being obnoxious in the pool. Having a 2 year is hard enough as it is to put to sleep, even more difficult with loud neighbors
Sergio is extremely personable and friendly, we met before I needed to submit this request and he is a great person. For that alone, I feel safer and more comfortable in my community knowing it is maintained by people who care, much like Sergio.
I would recommend this complex to others just based on the great service I received from the leasing agent.
The place is good but I need a placer closer to my work.
Place looks clean, nice and quiet what is needed for when when come back home from a busy day at work.
My hot water issues still are happening not sure what they need to do get get hot water to come on early and stay on all the way during my shower

I love this complex a lot and hope to make it my home for a long time. Been here about 2 1/2 yrs so far. I just hope that the landlord does not get greedy when it comes time to renew my lease soon. I lived in an Equity Residential apt. complex for 7 years because Equity was always reasonable with its periodic rent increases and some years, did NOT even raise the rent at all.
