Fairly secluded amid the countryside near the Texas border, the small city of Durant is a cultural and economic hub for the surrounding area. The campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University sits on the north side of town, and the institution plays a major role in defining the local culture: you’ll love cheering on the Savage Storm in everything from football to rodeo competitions, and heading to the campus for special events like the annual Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival.
Durant is also famous for its magnolias, and the annual Magnolia Festival serves as the unofficial kickoff of the summer season. Lake Texoma sits just west of town, serving as a popular destination on summer afternoons. Dallas and Oklahoma City are both within day-trip distance, allowing you to visit two of the region’s most exciting metropolitan areas anytime.

Property Ratings at The Austin
The rental fee is too expensive considering location and atmosphere. Pet deposit fee is also too high. I wish the back yard is totally closed for yourself, and when someone talks outside, you can even hear their story. There is no privacy. I saw cockroaches despite my own pest control. As rooms are connected each other, cockroaches and other bugs are a lot. During the night time, I can hear train sounds which can bother your sleeping.
I would not recomend this apartment complex to my worst enemy. Their is dog poop everywhere. In fact, it is not strange to see dog poop or trash in the swiming pool after it rains (since the trashcan is located right across from the pool and is not emptied enough given the amount of tennents living here). The gate always breaks and does not open from the inside out. Therefore, if you want to pick up your mail you better do it once you enter the complex with your car. Don't even try touching the open butten from the inside of the gate, it hasnt worked since the nine months I have been here. Glass and nails are scattered all throughout the parking lot (which has caused me to have a flat tire twice). According to what the manager told me, several apartments are having their ceiling cave in and/or serious water damage. Which (according to management), has harmed peoples personal belongings and etc. Management also informed me that one of the ceiling cave in occured over a babies cradle! Next, the property management was "kind" enough to inform me that several tennents air conditioning systems broke... You might be wondering why management would be so willing to divulge all of this negative information to me. I was told the above as an excuse as to why the padding of our carpet could not be replaced within a months timeframe (even though the damage was caused by the AC from the neighbors apartment). The smell from the above referenced room was so awful my husband and I could not use it for over a month. I requested if I could obtain a small refund for the month, but was told that it was my husband and my choice to not use the room with the rotten carpet in it... You would think that the people that run this place would realize that all of these negative things occuring are a dirrect reflection on them. Management is awful and does not understand what customer service is. I have never in my 15 years experience living in rental homes or apartments had an apartment manager yell ar berate my husband and myself. He actually got mad at my husband for smiling at him... If the Austin Apartment manager does not allow you to talk with his direct supervisor (as he did with me) to make a complain and you feel like you have also been living in unlivable conditions or have been wronged in any way. I encourage you to do as I have an contact the Better Buisness Bureau.
I moved here from Colorado and the apartments are so nice. The square footage is killer and I love my kitchen with granite countertops and having my own washer and dryer. The floors are easy to clean. There's a patio in the back that gives you a space to cook out and enjoy the outdoors. You're even allowed to have a fire pit as long as you don't put it near the house which makes sense. The grounds are clean and the maintenance man is super nice and friendly when I need help with something. There's a small pool and a work out center. It's quiet and clean very well maintained and to the looks of things down from me there's even more being built. The apartment manager is really professional and nice. Out of all the places I looked at in Durant I was treated with respect and kindness. I would recommend living at the Austin.
Amenities: - MINISCULE pool / gym - A gate that never stays closed (with such an insecure pin-code you can figure it out just by looking at the worn-out numbers on the pin pad) - An unkempt garbage area covered in broken glass and trash. - An afterthought of a "park" that's actually just a picnic table surrounded by dog turds. - A back patio that looks like a prison yard, with sheet metal and a barbed wire fence for a wall and completely open to neighbors Maintenance (these are primarily issues with management and not the maintenance workers themselves): - A/C wasn't working when the first Summer came around, took days to arrive and longer to fix. - Front and back porch lights went out halfway through our lease, management said they'd send someone. They didn't. - Our building was FLOODING and nobody even came to look at it for over 48 hours. Management: - SUPER overpriced, no online payment, $25 card payment fee - Unreasonable hours - Often doesn't reply to texts - Unwilling to work with you - Don't expect to keep your deposit (Our $900 in pet fees and $500 deposit evidently wasn't enough to cover the cost of moving a dryer and cleaning a kitchen) Overpriced townhome with laughable amenities, incredibly slow maintenance work, and unreasonable, greed-driven management. Avoid this place unless you like paying more for less.
I love Austin's it's just hard to afford. Amazing neighborhood and great amenities.
These apartments are beautiful inside and out. Any issue that I have had so far, has been corrected immediately. I REALLY want to give a five because I love my apartment so much and I feel that, with the amentities, it has such great potential but I guess we can't all be happy with everything! The apartments are on the higher end of the rental scale - with good reason, but for the price that is paid - more could be done to make the tenant feel like it's worth it. So - the pros are numerous - now for the con... I only have two (2). Both cons involve landscaping. 1) Tenants do not clean up after their pets when they let them outside to go to the bathroom. If I want to go to the pool or work out room, I have to dodge land mines of smelly dog feces. If a good breeze catches us at the pool (or anywhere outside), the mood is soured by a quick whiff of poo. 2) Grounds keeping. The grass is a foot tall before it is cut. Now, there isn't much grass to cut but each of our apartments have a little grassy patch infront. It just distracts from the visual appeal when just a quick buzz cut once a week could make it look a lot better. Little peices of trash accumulate around the pool area. Not in the gated pool area itself, but cigarette butts, beer bottle lids and trash clutter the ground around the fence as you enter. Again, it distracts from the visual appeal of the place.
A little pricey for the type of city we live in but....very safe....very quiet and if repairs are needed it's fixed quick. Patios are huge...colors are nice. I live in the newer units so my review is based on those.
