National publications constantly place Pittsburgh near the top of the list for most livable cities in America, and it’s easy to see why. The city has a rich history as an industrial and economic hub, which led to the construction of many grand buildings and public sculptures which still stand today. Downtown in particular is rich with beautifully preserved buildings and lush public parks dating back well over a century, giving the entire community a timeless atmosphere.
Pittsburgh is split into three sections by the rivers passing through the city: Downtown (a.k.a. “The Golden Triangle), the North Side, and the South Side. Each has its fair share of attractions and landmarks: the North Side is home to Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park (making it a perfect area for sports fans), the South Side features big, beautiful greenways and refurbished steel mills, and Downtown is where you’ll find the most variety in dining, nightlife, and entertainment.

Property Ratings at Club at North Hills Apartment Homes
There is no star (0 star) to give for this apartment and maintenance. We had very bad experience in the move in itself. Be ready to clean the apartment your self. We can see problems everywhere in the apartment doors doesn't work properly, windows are not proper. Even after talking to lease office they will just ask what can we do... not talking about the solution and issues supposed to be fixed before move in not after the move in. I don't find this is the perfect place to live in. As we see lot of rats indications in apartment we asked them to put the rat traps and one rat died in closed/locked area. I have called to lease office 2 times to cleanup and no-one has showed-up. We had to cleanup ourself.
How does this have 5 stars? This is a lie. Read the reviews here or anywhere. This place is downright terrible. I've rented at about a half dozen places over the years and this is by far the worst. Everything is outdated, and usually broken in some way, the carpeting is the cheapest you can buy, mold on the ceiling is painted over, this place nickel and dimes you to death, don't even think about getting a deposit back, even if you leave the apartment in better shape than when you arrived. They also add service charges to pay bills, and force you to pay $80 for internet (and supposedly other amenities which they don't break down, but it's no doubt things you get free at other apartments with the rent) You get to pay only through their "nice" little online portal that is clunky and outdated. In addition, the management here is terrible. Rude and condescending. You'll pay top dollar for a dismal apartment and the pleasure of being talked down to constantly. It gets one star for the location, But do yourself a favor, read the written reviews, and don't even consider renting here, you will regret it.

I live on a ground floor apartment. 8 leaks in 3 years requiring major disruption. "Ammenities" is basically a swimming pool and getting charged 80$ a month for mandatory wifi charges. Ridiculously old buildings for this price.

They force you to utilize Verizon Internet which adds an addition $80 on rent.
My AC unit failed April 2, 2020. They installed a small window unit in my bedroom window within a few days and promised to 'get right on it' to get the central AC fixed. For the next 8 weeks it was a series of excuses and as the weather warmed, it would be 80+ degrees in all rooms except the bedroom well into the evenings. During this time they replaced over 100 AC units in other parts of the complex - most of those were just upgrades of old, working, units, but they refused to do my unit. After numerous in-person visits to the office, letters, emails, etc they finally offered to let me move to another unit if I wanted to - and they wouldnt charge me for that "convenience". Another 4 weeks went by during which I was "one of the next units to be fixed". Second half of July was so hot that I ended up doing my "work from home" from the club house where the main office is located so that I could enjoy their AC. They offered to "let me out of my lease" when I told them I wanted to leave in mid July. When I asked to do that, they told me that I would actually be breaking my lease - which would cost me 2x my monthly rent. I offered them 1x my rent because of the lack of AC from April-July, and they said they would take me to court if I didnt pay the 2nd month penalty too. It was well worth it to pay and RUN AWAY FROM CLUB AT NORTH. During my stay I also experienced several middle-of-the-night false fire alarms where the sirens blared for several hours - and twice these caused the building sprinkler system to partially turn on - flooding my possessions in the storage unit within the building. They also installed bright spot-light type lights on every balcony of every unit and REMOVED the light switch that allowed residents to turn the light on their own balconies on/off. This way, in addition to not being able to turn the light off to enjoy a quiet evening on your own balcony, you also got the privilege of paying for the electricity every night - the office explained to me that this was one way they were building a "sense of community" ?!? As you read elsewhere in these reviews the management here is pretty heavy-handed. You can do better - there are lots of other nice apartments in Pittsburgh...

This was my first apartment and I lived here for about a year. While the apartment itself was nice and we had very few issues in that regard, I could hear everything that went on outside. It sounded like the windows were open even after I double and triple checked that they were closed. We also had a ceiling leak when we first moved in that was supposed to be fixed before we arrived but they waited until we had moved in to completely take over the apartment and get pain all over my furniture. Additionally, one half of the apartment was always freezing while the other half was boiling, and when maintenance was called they didn't really do anything to fix it besides open and close different vents. Also, no one told us we would be moving into the building that housed all the maintenance offices and equipment, so there was never any parking and always construction noise. Finally, upon just moving out, my roommate got a very rude call from the property manager even though nothing was wrong with the apartment.
I lived in worse places. Some sketchy people there when we lived there. Wanted me to let them into the pool area. Was just hanging outside and not sure what they were doing. The people are friendly that manage it. The pool was nice. The location is great. Don’t expect upgrades to be upscale but it’s safe. The noise from above you can be awful. We had people who would sing at 3 am. Lol! I go for it but just be aware it’s not really upscale.
While I like the location and my apartment is mostly fine with the amenities I look for, there is little response from management when concerns are raised (e.g., responding to children loudly using hallways as playgrounds for hours at a time, packages being stolen from the common areas inside the door). When a maintenance issue occurs, the “repair” is rarely more than a quick-fix of poor quality (e.g., plywood placed over dilapidated cupboards). I’m new to Pittsburgh, so I’m not sure if this is typical management for an apartment complex, but my experience thus far has left much to be desired, particularly for the price.
Infrastructure is falling apart. They don’t maintain the landscape. Maintenance workers are incompetent at repairing. Terrible at following through with maintenance request. They only care about getting new people in and could care less about maintaining the residence that are currently there. Don’t be fooled if you schedule a tour. Do not sign with them, as you will regret it

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. It wasn't horrible place to live, but they really screwed me when I moved out. I always paid on time, kept the apartment really clean, and was an overall great resident. I paid my last (partial) month of rent 2 days after the first of the month, and was told by the leasing agent they would waive my late fee for the month since I wasn't technically late according to my lease. I just got a call 3 MONTHS LATER from a collections agency saying I owe them $75 for a late fee. Called North Hills and asked why I wasn't contacted by them about the late fee. Lady told me they had NO TIME to contact me about it, even though they had my phone number, email address, and forwarding address. She said they had to IMMEDIATELY turn it over to collections and had zero time to contact me to resolve this easily. Fat chance. Be careful if you live here, they will royally screw you over when you move out. I would never recommend living here or in a Morgan Community.

Excessive noise, odors (smoking and cooking), poor response by maintenance when items are in disrepair. Office staff are happy enough to write down your complaint and promise a favorable and quick resolution to problems but they don’t respond unless you make a point to address the same issue multiple times. Common areas unkempt-dirty and in disrepair. Excessive cost for low quality and terrible customer service.

I've lived here 1 1/2 years and couldn't be happier with my choice. I have a small dog, so that eliminated over half the apts. in the area. The Club was at the top of my budget, but worth every penny! Construction is remarkably good and nearly soundproof. I was absolutely delighted with that, having owned my own home for many years. The common interior areas are spacious, well lighted, and super clean. The community center and pool are immaculate and inviting. Most importantly, the office staff is friendly and caring. You call, they respond every time and will double check. The guys in the maintenance crew are skilled and as nice as can be. I've never been disappointed. Leaking washer-replaced, broken disposal-replaced, bent venetian blinds-replaced, bees in patio woodwork-treated. They are terrific! And the location? Walk to restaurants, shops, cinema. How nice is that? I love it here. You will too. Bruce B.

Bruce, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for The Club at North Hills! We're so happy to hear you're enjoying our pet friendly community! I will pass your compliments along to our team; they'll be thrilled!
They have the worst management. Rents r so high and the maintenance is very very poor. They never respond to your requests even after calling them 4 to 5 times. The guys in leasing office are very rude. They don't even deserve a single star.
I have been here 1 month and I'm very disappointed in the maintenance of this property. All of these problems, excluding the wasps, were reported on move-in day. Multiple apartment employees have seen these issues in person: 1. The air conditioning was not working on our move in day. You think someone would notice that the apartment was 90 degrees on the initial walk-through, but NO. Thankfully they did fix this the same day when we complained. 2. My air conditioning vent is leaking water onto the carpet. I'm worried there is mold growth in the ceiling. I've asked them to fix it numerous times, but they just tell me it has to be done by a specialist and that they were months behind on their work. 3. There are no less than 15 wasps on my sliding glass door. My first work order was ignored. When I went to put in a second one, I was told it was my fault because I'm "letting the wasps in" (no matter that I don't use my porch because I'm afraid of getting stung). After 2 weeks, someone finally came out to spray them when my sister was here- she said the guy was here for 5 minutes and there are still VERY alive wasps in my apartment. 4. My clothes dryer is not very effective. If you remove the lint filter, the hose beyond it looks full of dust and lint. Despite the fact that this is a FIRE HAZARD, they have not called in a specialist to fix it yet. 5. My bathroom window is broken. While there are no leaks at the moment, I don't think that's unreasonable for me to expect no broken windows on move-in day. 6. This one made my mom very angry- the cabinets were covered in this horrible torn contact paper when I moved in. They did remove and repaint it after I complained multiple times. It no longer looks like a crack den, but it still does not look great. I highly doubt they would want pictures of the cabinets online. I don't understand why they couldn't invest in a cheap piece of vinyl to cover it up. 7. While they did steam clean my carpet prior to move in, there is a horrible pet stain (not from my dog) in my main living area. It's disgusting and it's STILL THERE. I've just covered it with a bin because I don't want my dog to smell it and think it's cool to go potty inside again. Also, there are numerous faded/bleach stains on the carpet as well. I will post pictures on Facebook later on if these issues are not fixed soon. If you still really want this apartment, ask to see the actual unit you are being given, not just the model!
Very nice apartment. Located within walking distance of many stores, which is very nice since I do not have a drivers license because of vision problems. Very friendly environment. Nice outdoor swimming pool with grilling area. Really happy here.
After living in the city of Pittsburgh for three years, my boyfriend and I were looking to move to the suburbs. The Club at North Hills immediately caught our attention. They are recently renovated, spacious, and pet friendly. Once we decided on it, the lease and moving in process was stressful to say the least. Upon touring the property, we were shown a model unit of what ours would look like. We were then expected to sign the lease without actually seeing our specific unit. For a type A, OCD, anxiety ridden person like myself, this was a nightmare. We didn't get to see our apartment until the day we moved in. They told us this was completely normal, I don't think so. Everything was repainted and new carpet was installed. However there was a broken window in the bedroom that wasn't replaced until a week after we moved in. Our garbage disposal broke two days after move in. I expect the washer and dryer to break soon as they are about 15 years old. Our ice maker was also broken in the newer stainless steel refrigerator. Next we will cover the bug problem. Let me say that living in downtown Pittsburgh for three years In a new apartment building we never had a single bug. One week in the suburbs and I've got spiders, ants, and silverfish. Maintenance has been here once to spray. I've been told the exterminator is coming, however has twice been a no show. I continue my lone battle with the creepy crawlys. The main problem I have with this property is the office staff. When you do get ahold of them, they sound very irritated to the point that your afraid to call. Ignoring all the above mentioned problems, we are very happy here. Maybe it's the quietness of our gigantic balcony, or the huge walk in closets, but in the end I'd say we would do it all again.
Club At North Hills is a good apartment community in the north side of Pittsburgh. Its closer proximity to Mccandles Corporate center, Mccandles crossing markets and Ross Park Mall makes it a wonderful place to live. It provides close access to trader joes and LA Fitness which is perfect for healthy living. The apartment complex have free water and trash removal so its great aspect of living here. Moreover, maintenance people and the office people are so good and always welcoming you. They have monthly parties and community engagement which is not seen in many places. Overall my living experience has been good and I would love to rent here again.
Very nice apartment and close to many restaurants, grocery stores, and quick drive to city. Nice location.
Extremely convenient to downtown and to shopping. Spacious two bedroom apt. with W/D in your apt. no sharing a laundry room. Well lit and roomy garage area. Nice pool area and clubhouse. Very helpful management and maintenance staff. Have not found a nicer complex at any price point. I have been pleased to call this home.
I lived in the club at north hills. While living there I noticed that everything was made very cheaply..for instance the door handles, bathroom shower plug, bathroom towel rack..ect. something was always breaking. The walls are also very thin so you hear everything. You really have no privacy. What I didn't like the most was the staff. There was heavy construction going on at the time I was living there..it was directly in my back yard. They started at the crack of dawn and were very loud and obnoxious.. I lost out on a lot of sleep which started to affect my night term job. I talked to the staff about it and they had no intentions on helping me out. The landlord is very rude and does not care about his tenants all he cares about is getting his check at the end of the month. So if you are looking to live here I suggest you look further because this is not somewhere I would recommend to reside.
This is easily the best place to live in Pittsburgh! Agree that some apartments are older than the others. But my apartment is the updated one which is great! Community is beautiful and I have enjoyed living here and will continue to live here !
I lived here from 2011-2013. I never had any problems, with the staff, noise or amenities. The property is a tad on the older side but they continue to have upgraded units. If I ever find myself in Pittsburgh again, I would definitely move back. Anyone who says this place is overpriced has never lived in a truly expensive city like Chicago or Washington, D.C.
Except for the location, there's nothing good in this community. The lease office guys are not friendly. They look smart and helpful until you sign the agreement. Extremely expensive and poor construction. You can easily hear your neighbor's privacy. The office workers don't treat tenants well. The technicians seem like they deal with the cases quick but always make cheap solutions. They don't fix the real problem. All technicians and the office people are extremely rude and not caring at all. Not recommended.
Apartments are drafty so you will have high bills because ac and heat can easily escape. Parking lots full of potholes. Gym has five machines, three of which do not work and have not worked for years nor are there any plans to fix or replace them when the issues are reported. My neighbor fell on one of the treadmills because it has a belt that badly skips yet no one on staff took this incident report to fix it. Rent is high, value is low.
