National publications constantly place Pittsburgh near the top of the list for most livable cities in America, and it’s easy to see why. The city has a rich history as an industrial and economic hub, which led to the construction of many grand buildings and public sculptures which still stand today. Downtown in particular is rich with beautifully preserved buildings and lush public parks dating back well over a century, giving the entire community a timeless atmosphere.
Pittsburgh is split into three sections by the rivers passing through the city: Downtown (a.k.a. “The Golden Triangle), the North Side, and the South Side. Each has its fair share of attractions and landmarks: the North Side is home to Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park (making it a perfect area for sports fans), the South Side features big, beautiful greenways and refurbished steel mills, and Downtown is where you’ll find the most variety in dining, nightlife, and entertainment.

Property Ratings at The Forest Apartments
MOLD ISSUES. Overall my experience at the forest was fine (good location, affordable, no maintenance issues) until I noticed my patio room wall was covered in black mold. Maintenance came and locked me out of the patio and never returned my call, I began noticing mold in the air vents and items in my apartment were getting moldy quickly. After finally getting my call answered by the property manager (extremely hard to get a response from for any reason) I was told that most apartments on the bottom level have mold issues due to being partially underground, they are very aware this is an issue and are not doing anything about it. When I moved out my bed had mold on the mattress and had to be thrown out, so many of my items were covered in mold and smelled of mildew. I’m a clean person and even bought a dehumidifier early on. I can’t believe managements poor handling of this situation, and that they are aware it’s an issue and aren’t making lasting fixes. I was allowed out of my lease early but the stress and frustration of this situation was so unnecessary. If this is something concerning to you please avoid living here!
I love living here. I've been at the Forest for a year and re-signed my lease for another year. My building has someone who has been living here for 20 years and someone who has been living here for 30 years. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The units are also well-maintained. It's quiet and safe and the setting does feel forest like. Maintenance is always fast and efficient. Bekki, the property manager is amazing. There are 200 units and only one of her and she makes sure that each unit is maintained and everything works as it should. There's usually a waiting list for units, but if you think you're moving within a year or even two, put your name on the list now so you might luck out and be able to get in. It's worth it.
At The Forest Apartments, you have the best of both worlds. Experience peace and quiet with views of pine trees and wildlife, minutes from shopping and restaurants, while still in a beautiful residential area. The complex is meticulously cared for. The property is groomed weekly. The buildings are well taken care of with spotless laundry rooms and well lit parking lots. Minutes from the parkway, you can head west and be in downtown Pittsburgh in ten minutes or head east and be in Monroeville where shopping is endless. The Forest Apartments are affordable and feel like home with private balconies and tree-lined buildings. Get to know your neighbors in a quiet setting. Parking is more than adequate and management is a pleasure to work with. Take a look at the units here, and you won't look anywhere else.
