Property Ratings at Tilbury Garden Apartments
My wife and I lived here for four years and absolutely loved it. The location is incredible (with easy access to shops, restaurants, parks, and a Red Line metro stop), and the neighborhood is delightful. The building manager, Joao, is a real professional. He is easy to work with and very responsive to questions and concerns. Any issues we had with our unit were resolved. We only moved because we needed more space, but this building and its small community are wonderful.
My wife and I loved being here and honestly would have happily stayed here for as long as we planned to rent but we just closed on our first house. I really cannot think of a bad thing to say. Maintenance ALWAYS came same day or first thing the next morning. The maintenance guy is awesome and Joao the property manager is equally great. Neighbors were amazing. All of our neighbors in the building really went out of their way to look after us and the other tenants in the building. The location cannot be beat. All of the Bethesda restaurants we like are 5-10 min walk away and Trader joes is a 2 min walk across Wisconsin ave. We have parks on two sides of the building and a really cool neighborhood across the street. So between the parks and the neighborhood it is a really safe place (my wife walked to work).
I moved in to this apartment last July and just finished my lease on the 31st. The only reason I moved was for work. Living here was a pleasure. I will break it into three sections: 1. The Unit, 2. The Location, 3. The Landlord 1. The Unit The Unit was clean and newly painted when we moved in. We lived in the smallest unit that was connected to the laundry room. We did not have to pay utilities for this particular unit and I believe that was the reason. The living room was spacious and connected to a small dining room. The bathroom was right off of this. The bathroom was small, but workable. The water pressure was good, never had a problem with hot water, and the plumbing was good as well, never had a clog or anything like that. The kitchen was an alleyway kitchen. It worked for us, although we definitely would have liked a larger space, but it is what it is. The one thing I would say is that if there could be a vent above the stovetop which went outside that would have been good. There was a garbage disposal in the sink that was brand new. There could have been a few more windows in the place and I wish the lights were not the fluorescent lights, they are quite harsh, nothing a lamp can't fix though. We rarely turned those on. Overall, the unit was good for the price we paid. Never had any rodent or pest problems and all the windows and doors locked properly and securely. 2. The Location This location was excellent and we were sad to have left it. There are two small parks on either end of the complex. You are right next to a 24 hr CVS which is convenient. And a new Trader Joes just opened up across the street as well which was really nice. You are in walking distance to the heart of Bethesda. Bethesda overall is a nice place to live and decently safe. We never felt unsafe there at any time. 3. The Property Manager My highest praise has to go to our property manager Joao and Hipolito. They were both so responsive and ready to answer any question, or fix any issue in the unit. Like I said we had a new garbage disposal because a leak had begun under the sink. They were there the next morning right after I notified them and fixed it. Never had a problem after that. They would alert us of any suspicious activity happening in the area. When we were moving out and they were showing the property to new tenants they always worked with us and never showed up unannounced. Joao and Hipolito, thank you for all you did over this past year.

This place is horrible I moved in here and have problems with my toilet my bathroom sink my kitchen every time I turn the disposal on it ruins the apartment next door so then their sink gets backed up and they have to come and drain my sink with a snake every 3 weeks the front door padlock broke and fell off and hes trying to say I destroyed property because the padlock fell off the door I mean it's just crazy stuff here you get to hear the people having sex next door and you get to see the alcoholic that lives upstairs deliver her alcohol every day and fall all over the floors the people's barking dogs on both sides of the apartment is enough to drive you crazy and I Suggest you look elsewhere there's many other garden apartments that don't have these issues I've heard and what suggests that you look into these other buildings and Bethesda because this place is absolutely is absolutely horrifying and the bugs and they spray for bugs right out from your door without your approval they're like and then when you walk on it bring it in your cats and animals can get sick I mean it's just this place is just you get what you pay for us if you want to live cheap this would be the place for you to live cheap cause you get what you pay for
I have lived there for 5 years and strongly recommend this place. I just moved because I got my own apartment. I enjoyed a lot living in this spacious and luminous apartment, conveniently located in the heart of Bethesda, very close to NIH and also super pet friendly. I biked everywhere from there and no need of a car to get everything you want. It’s all there. The management is excellent and they take care of the residents 24/7. Without doubt, this is the best place to find a very comfortable apt, in a unique location and importantly, that allows you to save money from the excessive fees that you’ll get in other places around.

I’m a fan of garden-style apartments and the feeling that you’re living somewhere with a little character. Management and facilities were both very responsive. You can’t beat the price for the area. My apartment is the main thing I miss after moving!

I stayed here for about 5 years while working in Bethesda and it is one of the best apartment experiences I've had. The management company was always very responsive to any item that came up and provided very good communication to tenants. This is definitely the best deal of any apartments that are in walking distance of downtown Bethesda. It also has great areas for running and parks nearby.

I have been living at this complex for a little over a year now and I absolutely adore this place. It is SUPER accessible -- close to plenty of great restaurants, the metro, retail shops and more. After a long day of work, I love being able to go home and walk a short distance to enjoy the rest of my evening in beautiful Bethesda. What makes this place truly feel like home is how thoughtful the management is. They go above and beyond to work with you and make your experience one to remember while being a tenant here. I highly recommend leasing an apartment at this complex!

Quite happy with this apartment and the management. One bedroom with a converted back porch was ideal for me, as I work from home. Location couldn’t be better. Near metro and future Purple Line. A walk to some really great eating and drinking establishments. I don’t have a car so the extensive bus options also great. There is construction nearby but there is also the Tastee Diner nearby so it evens out. Also parks and trails. Great place.
