Property Ratings at Village at Bordentown
The pros of these apartments are their location, spacious units, safe, pet friendly and affordability. However, there were severe issues that should be noted. The thermostats are outdated and ineffective, resulting in little control over heating. The sole maintenance person was overworked, and had poor communication with property management. Maintenance enters the unit without permission and disregards scheduled maintenance requests. Outdated units are not properly renovated between tenants, carpets were only steamed, and some units lack air conditioning. Issues with mold that made me sick. Management didn’t care. Mold was found in the wall units. There were persistent issues with rodents and wasps, the parking lot was never plowed, and the laundry room was poorly maintained. During the move-out process, unjustified charges were applied. I recommended you research thoroughly, read other reviews, and consider alternative options to avoid stress and health concerns associated with this apartment complex.
The apartments are old and not very well kept. They clean it really well but a week later you will start to notice all the nasty stains all over carpets. They do not like to replace the carpets. There are holes in the apartments several tenants have rodent issues in the winter, and the exterminator they contract with basically says they can only put a poison down. Also, there was a recent robbery in the neighborhood, everyone who moves here starts to look for another place immediately.
Terrible staff, extremely unprofessional and nothing ever gets done. The property manager is just as bad as her staff. The only plus is that it's a safe neighborhood and the tent is cheap. Let it be your last resort..
I lived here for two years. There are bunch of things that I would complain about but there isn't enough room to digress. Basically you get what you pay for. Cheap rent, cheap apartment. However, this apartment, has heat problems. You can't control the heat--the thermostat does not control the heat. When it gets warm and the heat is on, it can get up to the 90's and make it very uncomfortable. The other extreme is met when it gets to the record lows outside. Both winters, my apartment would get into the 50's some evenings. I was told there was nothing that could be done, it was the fault of the unusually cold winters. I would hate to see an elderly person or someone prone to sickness have to tough out in this apartment. Also, the lady upstairs has a dog. She doesn't take it for walks so it does its business in the apartment and you can smell that apartment on a hot summer day. Consider yourself forewarned.
I've only been in this apartment for a few months but so far, I'm very happy with it. The rent is extremely reasonable for the area and the apartment is very large. The apartment buildings are at the end of a neighborhood road so it's a nice quiet area that feels very safe. It's also conveniently located to many things. Downtown Bordentown is just down the street and there's a great pizza place right across the street.
It's definitely in a good area, bedroom and kitchen are bigger than your average apartment. Parking is limited, and the only thing is that the main office is about 45 minutes away.
