The community holds a unique place in Ohio’s history, serving as the state’s capital city on two separate occasions in the early 19th century. Today, Chillicothe is a vibrant community with tranquil residential neighborhoods surrounding a charming Downtown district that embodies timeless Americana.

Property Ratings at Walnut Hills Apartments
I have a studio apartment at Walnut Hills. It is perfectly suitable for me, and other options are one-bedroom units for those desiring more space. The physical location of the complex itself is one that is exceptionally quiet and peaceful, and residents are surrounded by beautiful arrangements of colorful flowers, which the complex prides itself on maintaining during the spring and summer months. One is also surrounded by trees and most mornings can awake to the beautiful and harmonious choruses of chirping birds. I was initially drawn to the affordability; a very low security deposit and with a move-in special incentive, I only ended up paying $199, although the complex has since come under new management, and the rent has been steadily increased by at least $12 every year. I now pay $448 a month where I originally paid $409. The complex allows pets, but adds an extra $50 I believe to monthly rent costs for anyone who owns a pet. The maintenance staff is available 24/7, with an emergency contact number for any sudden issues that may arise. The maintenance staff here is incredibly helpful, experienced, and friendly, going far beyond their duties and exceeding expectations when it comes to assisting residents. Inspections are conducted normally twice a year, with notification weeks in advance. The condition of my apartment when I first moved in was adequate. The carpet was obviously a bit aged, as was the wallpaper, but everything else functioned properly, and I was overall extremely pleased, as I have continued to be for the duration of my residency. The complex is perfect for college students in the Chillicothe area, since it is minutes from the OU campus in Chillicothe, and its location is also convenient for anyone who may work in Chillicothe, only ten or fifteen minutes away from the bustling downtown portion of the city, not to mention numerous shopping and dining options in close proximity on Western Avenue. One additional criticism I would have would be the lack of individual private space. A few of the apartments have semi-enclosed patio areas. No community area or anything of that sort, to those who may place value on such things. No pool. And one laundry facility, which is accessible 24/7. Overall, however, I strongly recommend it, and I shall ever be grateful for the affordability factor. My bad credit did not seem to make much difference in determining the amount of my security deposit.
We're continuing to live at Walnut Hills Apartments in Chillicothe, Ohio because Location, Location, Location is EVERYTHING that matters to us! We are close to our various favorite restaurants, grocers, farm fresh markets and bakeries, Amish cultured homegrown foods, plants, flowers; additionally, handmade candles, furniture, wood decor and woven blankets. Walnut Hills Apartments are enjoyable due to the quiet, country charm, beautiful landscaping of flowers, mature trees that provide both shade and beautiful leaves, bird species such as cardinals, red birds, robin, etc. These apartments are set-back off of Plyleys Lane, which has very low traffic and vehicle activity - allowing easy and safe driving without the bustle of traffic lights and/or fighting rush hour drivers trying to get to and from destinations . The Residents are friendly, quiet, and stay for several years to enjoy the maintenance free lifestyle and/or no yard work required! Nobody living above or below you either - they are the BEST!
