National publications constantly place Pittsburgh near the top of the list for most livable cities in America, and it’s easy to see why. The city has a rich history as an industrial and economic hub, which led to the construction of many grand buildings and public sculptures which still stand today. Downtown in particular is rich with beautifully preserved buildings and lush public parks dating back well over a century, giving the entire community a timeless atmosphere.
Pittsburgh is split into three sections by the rivers passing through the city: Downtown (a.k.a. “The Golden Triangle), the North Side, and the South Side. Each has its fair share of attractions and landmarks: the North Side is home to Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park (making it a perfect area for sports fans), the South Side features big, beautiful greenways and refurbished steel mills, and Downtown is where you’ll find the most variety in dining, nightlife, and entertainment.

Property Ratings at Whitney Hall Apartments
Please, please do not waste your money here. 1) The major issue I had with this listing is with the management; it took me two years of constant pestering to gain *most* of my security deposits back. You will either need to take them to court or call and bother Bob daily in order to get your money back. Multiple similar testimonies can be found across Google and the better business bureau website. 2) Management pays tenants to write good reviews, so do not believe what positive reviews you see. There was a woman who smoked weed and cigarettes on the same floor as me, so I reported this to management. Management (Bob) told me he/they asked this person to stop. Of course, smoking continued. I was told by management nothing else could be done. I later found out that this was the person that management asked to write multiple positive reviews (this person told me this, directly), so I assume there was some degree of "looking the other way" at play. 3) You will not control your own heating and air conditioning. Temperatures may be sub-par for some. I found the apartment particularly freezing all year (the windows are also very poorly insulated). 4) The apartments are not well cleaned before moving in. I spent hours scrubbing the bathroom to remove shower and bath grime after I moved in. This place is worthless. Look elsewhere.
Not terrible with some slight inconveniences that are typical with apartment living. *No ceiling fans ( I never saw one ) *Minimum parking *No trash compactor *Comcast only *Electricity regularly go outs when it storms (the entire neighborhood) *Thin walls
Avoid this place! We moved out at the end of July after two years living here and management withheld our security deposit without providing any accounting for any deductions made. In addition, we cannot get a response from their "office" in our attempts to resolve this amicably. There is no central office location, only a PO box and a property manager. This is an awful place to live and the security deposit issue was icing on the cake! Stay far away!
This is absolutely the worst management company I've ever dealt with! They are non-responsive after you sign a lease. They'll hold your security deposit captive until you sue them! The building isn't soundproof; and if you like racoons, enjoy finding them in the trashcans so be careful!!!! Wait until you hear the doors slam! Man!!!! Just ask them about the location of their office if you don't believe me and others because of the fake 5 star reviews. If I could give this review 0 stars I would!
I have lived in this building for the past 4 years and have never had any major issue that was not resolved in a reasonable timespan. The manager is respectful and answers his phone during regular business hours, and if called outside of that time will call or text within 24 hours. The worst maintenance issue I have had is a leaky toilet seal, which happened very early on in my rental and was repaired within 2 days. I have never regretted moving in here and would only move if forced to for work or purchasing a home. You do not have the ability to control your thermostat in this building, but you also don't have to pay utilities for heating or air conditioning. In fact, it can sometimes be too cool in the summer and too warm in the winter, which is certainly no cause for complaints! The only actual issues I have had in this building are tenant-related, such as second hand smoke from neighbors through the vents, or stolen packages (which has not happened to me personally.) But, since I began renting, the building is now non-smoking only and packages have been consistently secure for the past couple years, and they are quite frequently delivered inside or at least under the awning. Parking is usually available out back, and vehicles parked there have remained safe even despite very rare car thefts in the larger neighborhood. Water is clean and clear and hot water virtually never runs out. Whenever water maintenance is necessary, shut offs are announced days in advance except in rare emergency situations. Trash is removed on a regular basis, and common areas cleaned at least once a month. Some exterior facing walls in the apartment are made of plaster and tend to disintegrate, but never leak. Floors and walls are thick concrete blocks and I hardly ever hear any neighbors, the noise curfew of 11pm tends to be respected. So happy I moved here when I did, you will not regret it! The neighborhood is great too, perfect for small families and those wishing for a quiet, calm environment. Only a couple blocks from a quaint coffee shop and mailbox, as well as churches and a family library.
The building is kept clean and most tenants are well behaved and very friendly. Quiet building. Great parking in rear, garbage cans are taken out by staff, and the repair guys are helpful. I enjoy living here!!
I used to live on the 2nd floor and can hear everything from upstairs and downstairs! I as a PhD student could not get any sleep. Management was worse! After living there for a few years, they kept my security deposit for no reason!!!
I never lived in a place that was this poorly managed. There is no real landlord, just a guy who gets pissed off everytime you call him about something messing up. Once you sign the lease, you will never see him or your security deposit again!
Do not move in this apartment building management is horrible, they erased my last review on here, I guess they were embarrassed by my honesty. There is no leasing office and you will not meet the actual landlords and management will not give you the landlords phone number only email and they will not even respond to that. Save yourself and do not sign a lease with them
Recently lease ended. Loved the building. Management responded to any maintenance requests promptly. Building very well run. Would highly recommend this building and management company.
There is no leasing office. Just a person manages the property. I moved in to this apartment 5th of the month. The electricity went off for 3 days I had to stay in Airbnb for 3 days. I was able to use electricity after 3 days of moving and from the beginning there is no heating in room. I tried to call that person for 50 times and tons of messages he said he turned heating but he lied. Next day he said he will come to turn on again but he never show up. I am very frustrated with this person. It was so hard for us without heat in this apartment.
Property Manager at Whitney Hall Apartments, Responded To This Review
We are sorry for your initial move in experience. However to be fair, placing the Electricity into the Tenants name has to be done by the Tenant and not the landlord. The heating issue was resolved immediately. It was also impacted by the lack of electricity
