Property Ratings at Woodgate
I lived on the first floor and every summer I dealt with some pest that they never did anything about. Once I got rats and they came and set traps but never sealed up any of the entry holes to prevent the rats from coming back. One summer I would get a dozen flies a day in my apartment. They never did anything about it. I would have to ask a million times for the doors to be repaired so that flies could not enter. And yet still they wouldn’t fix it perfectly and the flies would still come in. The next summer I would deal with 10 bees a day. And nothing was done about them. Erhlich pest control would come and go, but there were still bees there. No one came to check if bees were living in the wall and tried to get rid of them. The worst part of it was when I was first looking at the place I asked about bugs, spiders or ants and they said there were none. And since I moved in I have seen the above plus frogs, spiders, and slugs. I had to move out of their because it was disgusting.

My Fiancee and I just ended our 15 month lease. Everything started out well enough, but then the seasons changed and the apartment when from ok to crap. First of all, parking absolutely sucks. These apartments were built in the 1970s or 1980s when people only had one car per apartment. These days, people have two or three cars which makes parking a nightmare. Add the parking to snow, and you can forget about parking anywhere near your building. Second, the Heat and this place works in the most backwards way imaginable. The gas water heater circulates through the air conditioner so if you want to run the heat while running any hot water in your apartment, neither will work. Third, the maintenance in this place is horrible. The guys are okay and the managers are okay but the coordination between the two is atrocious. You will sit for weeks with pending work orders, probably just they can take it out of your security deposit anyway. Overall, these places are severely overpriced for the age and general condition of them. I'm also very surprised all the elderly and unemployed people can afford to even live here. Do yourself a favor and don't rent in Berks County or at all, especially here

I am very sorry to hear this. We did rectify the maintenance issues, as we have made some major changes in that department in the past month. We are aware of the parking situation and we are trying to take care of this as well. We ask that all residents are courteous to one another and unfortunately that doesn't always happen. In regards to the heating situation, there is a switch that would need to be switched to go back and forth with heating and cooling. Regardless of the hot water running, you should always have heat. Again I am dismayed to hear you had a bad experience at Woodgate Apartments.
First off I will start with the staff. Completely incompetent, the lady who went over my girlfriends lease agreement with her and I both present made it clear to use both that you can have any cable you want as long as you don't place a dish anywhere on the building. And to get a dish on the property you need to increase your security deposit by $300, and ur insurance from $100,000 to $500,000. Once the cable man arrived and found signal in the grass, my girlfriend ran to the office to get the promission slip signed. But... The lady behind the counter, who seemed to have just arrived on our planet, let my gf know that she's never heard of anyone being aloud to put a dish anywhere on the property, and has never heard of any type of increases to do so. One because they landscapers didn't want to have to worry about damaging them and two because they want the property to remain "nice". So when asked how else would we get any kind of cable, the lady said that everyone gets SECV. ( the worst, most expensive cable on the market) So that's that, and when she contacted the manager about, she didn't even care. Second, while signing the lease my gf asked "what do we need to do if my boyfriend were to move in befor my lease is up?" And the lady replied "O, you just notify us and you will have to come in the add him to the lease, and once your 15 month lease is up we would just have to go over his financials and insurance to add him to a lease if you will resign." Wouldn't you know it! Once that moment came around the same lady said she's never heard of that, and that's not how we do things. So all in all, save your selves any hassle and just go to Madison's. Or private, or just get a house, they are cheaper.
Roaches. Roaches. Roaches. Do not go to Wood gate. It has been horrible living with the bugs and nothing after months has been done. I just cannot believe they neglect to offer anything to resolve the issue, besides Ehrlich. Offer to stay in another apartment until the bugs are completely gone. Paying to live in an apartment with bugs.... How horrible is that!
Ever since the new management took over they allow the rif raf to come and go from these apartments. The screening process is not what it used to be. The amenities are going downhill too with parking being an issue and snow plowing in the winter.
Great apartment complex. I can't wait to move in. Looking forward to many years of living in this beautiful community.
