About This Property
Things we love about DBC: There are always 2 security guards/ doorman on duty. 1 patrols the building (all floors inside and walks around the perimeter, while the other stays at the front desk). This means you always feel safe, all packages and deliveries are received and signed for, and they resolve any issues as needed (e.g., ask homeless to keep moving, call police to remove them, etc). The floors are made of concrete and the walls are double Sheetrock. That means inside the apartment you rarely hear noise from neighbors and even within the apartment it is hard to hear noise from another room. This would be ideal for 2 people working from home because you won’t hear the other person on calls. The unit is super quiet at night time and early morning. There is almost no noise from the street, especially in the master bedroom. Ambulances are supposed to turn their sirens off on Franklin before they get to Sutter and the HOA has been good about pestering the hospital when they don’t do that. The pool, spa, sauna, and gym are really nice amenities. We used them often and most of the time we were the only people using them. If anyone else is there it is often only 1 other person. Usually you can have the full pool or workout room to yourself! There are fewer units in our tower, so the elevators are super fast, often with no one else in the elevator. You are also in the same tower as the pool and gym so you don’t need to walk across the lobby in your swim suit. We loved using the patio to grill almost nightly. The only grill restriction is the size of the propane tank (it needs to be a smaller one). We loved the location for convenience. We almost never needed to drive anywhere. Our doctors and dentist are located in the building or across the street, so we would just leave a minute or two before our appointment time. The Walgreens across the street is useful when you are sick and need to pick up essentials or run out of an ingredient for dinner or coffee for the morning! Whole Foods is just a few blocks away, so you can grab groceries for your dinner. Limoncello, Pacific Cafe, and Tommy’s Joynt are within 1 block and are amazing lunch options. Kuma Sushi and many restaurants on Polk street are a short walk away. Also, some great bars too (Hi-Lo, Harper and Rye, Soda Popinski’s). There are Michelin star restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk (Octavia, Acquerello, SPQR, Sons & Daughters, Kim Khao, Avery, State Bird, Progress) and even more if you are ok with a 30 minute walk. If you have a child, this is a great location because there are 6-7 parks with playgrounds located within a ~15 minute walk (Lafayette, Alta Plaza, Raymond Kimball, Margaret Hayward, Civic Center, Hamilton Rec, and Helen Wills). Our nanny took our daughter to a different playground every single day and sometimes 2 different playgrounds a day! We love Japantown for the sushi, ramen, Japanese and other food options. We enjoy shopping at the cute shops and go the Cherry Blossom Festival every year in April. You can watch the Cherry Blossom Festival parade from the condo’s balcony. We are also a ~15-20 minute walk to Fillmore. We love eating at Tailor’s Son, Noosh, Woodhouse Kitchen, and the Snug. The location is super convenient if you need to drive to work via 101. It is a short drive down Van Ness to hop on the 101. This location also has many of the tech and biotech shuttle buses picking up nearby on Van Ness or Franklin. Opera House, Symphony Hall, and SF Ballet are all things that are super close/walkable. We loved walking and would walk to almost every neighborhood in the city from our condo. We’ve walked to Fisherman’s Wharf, Union street, the Marina, Hayes Valley, Dubois Triangle, the Castro, Soma, Union Square, Embarcadero, North Beach, Chinatown, etc. From this location, most of the city is “your backyard”!
