The Historic Downtown Square has served as the epicenter of Oxford since the city’s incorporation in 1837. Today, the Square boasts a bevy of eclectic shops and boutiques, art galleries, independent bookstores, nightlife spots, chef-driven restaurants, and downhome eateries.

Among many notable residents past and present is the celebrated author William Faulkner, whose legacy is commemorated through the preservation of numerous relevant homes, his gravesite, and a bronze statue in front of City Hall.
