Chicago’s Near North Side has earned a reputation as one of the most desirable communities in the city for renters. Residents generally recognize the Near North Side as the area below North Avenue between Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. This large waterfront section of the city incorporates several smaller neighborhoods, including River North, Old Town, and Gold Coast. You’ll find the area’s most popular attractions along the famous Michigan Avenue (AKA “The Magnificent Mile”), a swanky shopping corridor that also incorporates high-end restaurants, trendy nightclubs, and performance venues.
So, what is it like to live in Near North Side? The magnificent Victorian architecture intermingles with the modern skyscrapers, creating a distinctive and timeless atmosphere. This section of the city is also home to a vast array of art galleries, displaying everything from the classical to the contemporary.

Property Ratings at 1100 North Lasalle
Great apartment building in the heart of Old town. Can't get a better location for the price as it relates to being close to transportation, shopping, restaurants, bars and downtown. Walkable to the Loop, to Michigan Ave and a quick subway ride or cab to Wrigley. The apartments are not upgraded and kitchen/bathroom are small - but it is clean. Maintenance and front door staff are TERRIFIC.
My apartment faces east with an abdundance of daytime sun for my plants to feed on. With amazing views of Chicago's downtown skyline from the east and south and an attentive staff, I couldn't have dreampt of a more perfect home. The southern view of Chicago's skyline is my nightly lullaby. Never a dull moment.
I'm renting for 1155 $ per month for 1 bed apartment and everything included, just internet if you need. Building is pretty old, I think it was hotel. Kitchen in the unit is so small as walk-in closet, really. A lot of dust, I guess it because 3rd floor and windows on LaSalle street. If you want to have a/c you should pay extra 30$ per month, but I think management never check that. If you like relax in the bath, so this apartments not for you, bath super small and faucets in the bathroom also old. Bedroom suitable only full size bed. When we moved in this building, the said they have a sun deck, but honestly I never seen that. But anyway, it is a good price for Gold Cost location. Everything close. Close to 'L' and cta buses, Oak street beach within walking distance.
I'll start by stating the location is great! I love how my windows look over a lot of trees and I can see pretty far out and watch amazing sunsets. The apartment is just close enough to all of the action of Rush St. and Michigan Ave. while still feeling like it is in a quiet neighborhood. The downside is the size. Thankfully I started the lease a couple years ago, there is no way I would move into it now with the rent skyrocketing. There is no kitchen counter, which is quite common, but got really old after a little while (I made my own from a Target organizer). The shower head is so low I have to squat a bit and the tub is not a full size tub (no soaking in this thing). I do appreciate that the building foots the bill for electric, heat and cooking gas. The size and price are no longer justified for me.
