Uptown is where renters choose to live if they love entertainment. Throughout the neighborhood you’ll find everything from walking tours highlighting the hangouts of Chicago gangsters to the city's hottest nightclubs and theaters to the best shops and restaurants around. Uptown Chicago stretches along Lake Michigan and includes the popular summer hotspot Montrose Beach. For those moving to Chicago with a pet, Montrose Dog Beach is also a very popular destination. In winter, Cricket Hill is one of the city's favorite sledding spots.
What is it like to live in Uptown? It’s historic, walkable, and distinctive. Uptown is home to some fantastic landmarks, such as Aragon Ballroom. The ballroom opened in 1926, and legends about secret tunnels and Al Capone abound. During the Big Band era, the ballroom hosted some of the biggest names in music, including Glenn Miller, Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington.

Property Ratings at 1124 W Wilson Avenue
Management will make this place seem great at first. But when you move in, you will experience endless problems. There is rampant theft, including items left in common spaces (bike room, gym, lounge, package room) as well as apartment break-ins. The key system has technical issues often, and getting replacement keys is next to impossible. Bad neighbors plague each floor. I myself have had to call the police on neighbors multiple times. Management will enter your unit without permission or notice. The air conditioning system will act up in the transition seasons. As of writing this review there have been quite a few hot days this year and many people continue to not have AC. Last winter, several people went without heat in the coldest months. If you move into this place, I promise you will soon be searching for excuses to break your lease. Avoid at all costs.
The A/C and heating units rarely work correctly, the management is EXTREMELY shady, there’s a high crime rate within this area and building.
The Wilson is nothing but problems. Management is slow and not helpful. No such thing as Security in the Wilson. Break-ins often. They don’t care about there tenants and your a/c and heat unit will often not work at all.
I moved in a month ago and have been super happy with my apartment! Tons of natural light, laundry & a dishwasher in unit, lots of street parking around, and utilities don’t fluctuate. Their use of tech is really cool too, the front door has remote access where I can let guests in from my phone & even unlock my door with my phone. Lots of great restaurants around too!
