About This Home
What you will love about the home: This home is in a lush, tropical setting just steps from renowned Lanikai Beach, arguably one of the best beaches in Hawai'i. It is a cozy, beach-y family home. The home is so close to the beach that shoes are not needed to get there; a short, 2-minute stroll down the neighborly street, onto the sandy beach path, will take you there. The home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, plenty of interior space, and a backyard oasis that make indoor/outdoor living seamless. The home can sleep up to 11 guests with its two queen beds, two double beds, single bed, and an extra futon for children. The home is one of the original Lanikai beach houses and is about 100 years old. It has been fully renovated multiple times and is well-suited to modern beach living, complete with top-tier kitchen appliances including a Viking range and Breville gourmet espresso machine. The open-plan kitchen and adjacent dining room lead to the spacious back garden and pool. An outdoor BBQ allows for outdoor cooking just steps from the front garden’s lanai dining area. Or, for an intimate indoor meal, the large solid-wood dining table can seat up to 8, while the two granite-counter breakfast bars provide more causal options. Central A/C cools the main parts of the house, with split A/C units in one of the other rooms. However, you will find that A.C is rarely needed because the gentle ocean breeze flows freely through the house with the French doors open, cooling the home naturally. Two mature monkeypod trees also provide shade and natural cooling and give the feel of a lush oasis. The island-living feel is further accentuated by ceiling fans in every room. The house is well suited to extended family living, including children. In the large back garden, a pool, hot tub, rope swing, and ample grass area are places where memories are made. We also have plenty of board games and (upon request) can provide access to a very large Lego collection, which is great for allowing parents time to have a coffee on the hanging daybeds on the lanai, in the front garden dining area, or by the pool. What you will love about the neighborhood: In addition to the stunning beach, this home also just steps from the renowned Pillbox Hike and MidPac Country Club’s vast golf course and is a short drive or bike ride to renowned Kailua Beach and Kailua town. The home is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, except for the many visitors who come to experience Lanikai Beach. The neighborhood is essentially a giant (~1.5 km long) cul-de-sac, and the home is one block from spacious Lanikai Park and its quaint playground. Our neighbors are our friends; it is a lovely and welcoming community of people. If you love water sports, this is the place for you. You can rent snorkel, surf, kayak, stand-up paddle, kite surf, wind surf, etc. gear and can do all of these things right from the end of the street. If you are curious about learning to wing foil (a new-ish sport that uses a hydrofoil board and a hand-held 'sail'), this is the place, and you can get top-tier lessons minutes away in Kailua. Additional information: A small 'ohana, i.e., a separate cottage in the back garden, shares the property. ('Ohana is Hawaiian for "family", literally, and is colloquially used to describe a small additional dwelling on the property that was historically used for extended family.) The ‘ohana’s long-term tenant is very quiet and respectful. If you stay at this home you will meet them, though you'll rarely cross paths. Lease terms: Available May, June, and July 2025. Minimum rental: 30 days Maximum rental: 3 months Utilities included (internet, water, gas, electricity). Max Included Electric Charge: $250 / month. A car (7-seater Kia Sorento) may be available for an additional fee - inquire to discuss. Small dog may be allowed; inquire to discuss. This is a strictly no smoking property. Market Rent does not include taxes and fees and will vary based on actual length of stay and time of year (Hawaii 4.712% GET, 10.25% TAT, 3% OTAT will be added). Maximum number of adults is 8. No parties are allowed at this quiet luxury home. We follow the good neighbor policy and all is quiet by 9 pm. We welcome guests that will take good care of the home and treat it as their own. In Kailua it’s all about the beach. Some people move in and hardly ever make the 30 minute drive into Honolulu. The white sands, blue waters, and swaying palms erase all thoughts of a world with skyscrapers, airliners, and bustling city streets. You’ll also find commuters that work in Honolulu but prefer the quiet life in their down time. The Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay is next to Kailua and accounts for a number of the families that call this laid back beach town home.
Kailua is much smaller than Honolulu and that’s part of the charm. The main part of Kailua runs from Kailua Beach Park east to the Enchanted Lake neighborhood. Lanikai fronts part of Kailua Beach and is one of the most popular areas. It’s known for its eye-popping water views and assortment of long or short term vacation rentals.
Windward Mall has the largest collection of shops and eateries in the Kailua area. They also host a Farmers Market every Wednesday and Sunday.
