Property Ratings at 143-149 W 140th St
I laughed at the previous reviews. Antique Harlem??? Really?!! Its just like any apt building in nyc. I lived here 5 years and it ended badly. Yes it’s close to subway and some restaurants. Those positives are outweighed by crime. By year 3 Crime and robberies were up. The closest supermarket across the street suffered multiple robberies and shootings where one of the workers was shot. At year 4, the neighbor below me started harassing me because he thought I was making too much noise. He started glueing my keyhole door shut with crazy glue and would bang on my door at 3am just to scare me. He would leave dead rats at my door. The building management didn’t care because that person had been living there for years and they take care of each other.I ended up leaving the apartment and deposit. Don’t rent here. Terrible building.
One couldn't ask for a better place to call home. My building is beautiful, it's painted with very elegant colors and has an antique feel to it. My building is locate in the heart of place where a lot of historical culture was/is born. I am a few feet away from a gorgeous park, supermarket, and a few restaurants. My building is a skip and a hop away from a few metro stations and bus stops. I love my building most of all because of the joy, happiness, and liveliness that surrounds it.
When you look at the building, it is not as fancy as all of the fancy gentrification buildings in the neighborhood, but it is perfect. It is in the heart of Harlem and it very comfortable. The common areas are well maintained and all of the neighbors and staff are friendly. Everyone says "hello" and as a recent resident, I feel a part of the community. The atmosphere is welcoming and it has a touch of antique Harlem as well as a small modern touch. It has a beautiful history and I am glad to be a part of it.
