Property Ratings at 145 Broad St
They raise the rent every year. The intercom has never worked.....ever! If your apartment is far away from the front door, you will have to travel to allow guests into the building. It's not unusual to smell marijuana smoke in the hallways. Neighbors leave stinky bags of trash in the hallways, sometimes for days. They also let their dogs run loose in the parking lot and do there business all over the property instead of the designated area. (One time in the winter, a dog urinated just outside one of the entrances to the building and all the neighbors had to jump over it or step in it to get into the building. This was especially bad because there was snow on the ground so it didn't dry up or anything.) Not having a functional intercom leads to more problems; packages delivered to neighbors have been stolen when left in the vestibule. It makes me wonder if the cameras located throughout the building actually work. One neighbor had his daughter's Christmas presents stolen. Light bulbs are blown in the hallways and not replaced for months. Some neighbors switch builds from other areas in the building in order to have their areas lit. What makes this worse is that when you call the landlord to get relief, his response is simply "What do you want me to do?" He's obnoxious and rude. The building has a lot of potential and at least my apartment is beautiful. Appliances are modern and it has huge windows that allows for amazing sunlight. Each apartment has 2 designated parking spots which is fantastic. If the landlord was smart, he would turn the building into Condo's and move on. I would definitely purchase mine.
My apartment is a renovated catholic school turned apartment complex, that is run by a landlord who doesnt much care for running it. The buildings elevator is constantly breaking down, the walls are too thin, and the dumpster service is unreliable. Also, doing laundry is extra expensive because the coin op machines are over priced and under powered, meaning multiple loads are required. Not mention the intercom system in our building says it works, but thats just a lie.
