Property Ratings at 150 Summit
I’m not exaggerating when I say that not only are the apartments nice and the pools very clean and well-maintained, but the management is also efficient, polite, and helpful. We have lived in at least three different places, and by far, this has been an amazing experience. The only minor issue is that Valley Trash does not match the high standard of the management, but I understand they are a separate company. We recommend 150 Summit 100%.

Thank you for your kind words and the 5-star rating! We're delighted to hear that you're enjoying your experience at 150 Summit. We appreciate your understanding regarding Valley Trash and your recommendation means a lot to us. Sincerely, The 150 Summit Management Team
This place has been cursed since we moved in. They only give you keys to move during a designated time *for us it was 2PM-4PM on a Saturday to get keys*. We go pick up our keys and the apartment isn't even ready. We're watching people patch the ceiling as we're waiting to move our furniture in. First night, the AC unit craps out so we're stuck trying to sleep with an 85 degree apartment. Fair play, it was fixed the next day. It took us a week to get a working mail key because the only person that made keys *3 minute job tops, I've done it* was out. So a week of not being able to get our mail. A month later, the prep team upstairs making all kinds of noise for a week solid, knocks the toilet pipe and floods our unit downstairs. May God help you if you get a unit with upstairs neighbors or work nights and have to sleep during the day. I'm pretty sure the roof is made of paper. If your neighbors upstairs weigh anything more than 20 pounds you will hear everything they do. It will rattle your dishes. Every toilet flush, every walk across the floor, and every door slam. Office Personnel are useless, be prepared for being looked at like you have 3 eyeballs when you walk in the office. They're happy to show you a unit and take your money at Rent time but that's about it. $15 a month for Pest Control that doesn't come. We definitely will not be renewing. We can't wait for our lease to be up, I'll happily pay more for peace and quiet. It's to the point now where we can't even look forward to coming home. I wouldn't stay here another year even if it was free. I would not recommend this place in good faith to anyone.

I have had issues with 150 Summit since move-in. Right before my move-in date, I was told my unit was no longer available, and I was being moved to a different unit. I had already had my mailing address changed, power and water setup, as well as internet, but management provided no compensation for these inconveniences. The unit I moved into was not fully turned over and had electrical outlets hanging out of the walls, dirty floors, and a faulty washing machine hook up that caused the entrance to the unit to flood on Day 1. While they fixed the washing machine emergency quickly, I have not experienced good maintenance service since. I’m going on two months without a working microwave, an off and on electrical issue, and a door that cannot be closed due to water damage. Despite constant and respectful interactions with management and staff, these aforementioned problems have been cast aside and condensed into one large work order for almost 2 months. Poor communication and service skills from management will continue to cause myself and many others issues.

I lived at this complex at two different points in time: once when it was relatively new (early 2010s) and again recently under its current name and management. I moved back sight unseen the second time because I *thought* I knew what I was getting. Unfortunately I did not realize just how run down the property is now. The complex has changed management companies several times over the last decade and every new owner implements their own cheaply and poorly executed "upgrade" project that leaves the units worse off than they were before. Upon my more recent move-in, there was black trim paint lazily splattered onto the white walls, the linoleum floors were caked in dirt, fixtures were peeling away from the walls, doors and drawers did not open or close properly, and the overall landscaping of the property was non-existent. It was dirt. Barely any grass on the entire property which I'm sure made it difficult for dog owners. No sign of in-progress landscaping improvements the entire time I lived there. The brick siding was crumbling away from the building exteriors too but I do think they were in the process of repairing that as I left. I also did not feel safe at night because there was not enough outdoor lighting and the security gates were typically open. Neighbors were often super noisy too and would congregate and drink out in the parking lot at night. They might have every right to do that and I wasn't upset about it. But it did make me feel extra nervous as someone living alone to walk to or from my car at night, especially combined with the lack of lighting. My worst experience was when an appliance started malfunctioning to the point where it became a safety hazard. I logged a maintenance request right away but had to go to the office multiple times over a 2-month period just to get someone to come check it out. They never fixed it. Instead, I got a lecture from the manager about how expensive it is to maintain the property. Not my problem, dude - also, what do you think we pay rent for? Worst place in Birmingham (the office ladies were super sweet, though - kudos to them and only them).

You have to beg the staff to get maintenance out to your place and still nothing gets done. Also if you live below someone, you can hear every foot step, conversation, toilet flush, even their tv. Very cheaply built apartments. They tried to fix up but the paint job is messy and overall just did not look like they tried very hard. The front office staff, Danielle, is the least helpful person on this planet and always very rude. 0 stars if I could

Dryer machines never work properly. You put your clothes for drying and you PAY for it and you know what you will never get dry clothes. I get my clothes always very wet. It happened with me 10 times that’s extremely horrible. Also you will never get your maintenance on time. I’m very very disappointed!!!!!

Excuse my venting but this apartment company does not care about you or your dog’s well-being. On the night of November 7, 2019 my dog was attacked by another renter’s dog. He had bite marks and punctures on his stomach from the dog’s teeth and was bleeding and he was very scared after the attack. I emailed the apartment complex about the attack, submitted pictures, description of what happened, and where the dog’s owner lived and a description of the dog. I never heard back so I went into the office and told them the story I previously emailed them and they said they would get the manager to work on it when she got back in the office the following week. I asked them to have her call me, which she never did. With this information the complex could easily search through the renter’s profiles and determine who it was. They also said that they would give the dog owner a ‘lease violation’ but they couldn’t do anything else. In the apartment lease it says if your dog attacks another dog, it must be removed from the premise. The girl in the office didn’t even know this was in the lease that they review with applicants every day. Even after a month has passed, they hadn’t bothered to figure out who it was after I submitted this information to them and never called me to provide any updates which I requested. So, I went to the effort to determine where this dog owner lived myself. Once I did, I let the office know and again to have the manager call me to update me on the progress. Now another 3 weeks later (7 weeks total after the attack) they never called me to update me on the dog attack progress. When they finally call me about my broken kitchen light... I asked her for a progress update on the dog attack. She said they talked to the dog owner today and the dog owner ‘didn’t recall her dog attacking another dog, OF COURSE SHE DIDN’T. As expected, they said there was nothing they can do despite the pictures and first-hand account I provided. This apartment complex does not enforce their lease terms and does not care about you or your dog’s well-being. When that dog attacks another renter, we will see what happens. I’m sure the dog’s owner will ‘not recall her dog attacking a person.’ If this dangerous dog attacks you, your child, or your dog, they were already notified of the situation and have chosen not to do anything about it.

These are really just cheap apartments that have been shined up to attract people to the location at the Summit. Underneath the decent fixtures, though, are paper thin walls and ceilings and constantly malfunctioning appliances. Even in college living in dorms I've never been able to hear this much noise from my neighbors. I can hear their conversations, their footsteps, even just opening drawers. On top of this, the A/C unit banks are right outside the master bedroom on the bottom floors, and half of the ancient units are absurdly loud when they kick on. I've had my heat not work for two weeks, my hot water heater leak and then not work, and had my apartment flooded by upstairs neighbor. Getting things fixed was like pulling teeth at first, but they've at least improved in that area lately. If you absolutely have to live at the Summit, make sure you get a top floor unit, because living underneath someone in these flimsy apartments is rage inducing.

Thank you for sharing this review. We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing some noise transfer. We would welcome the opportunity to communicate with you directly about this as well as the other concerns you mentioned in your review so we can move forward on solutions. Please come to see us in the office or give us a call. We hope to hear from you soon.
In the one year I lived here, it took months to get a leaky window repaired and my power going out. The first month I moved in, my power would go out sporadically. I was told I had to contact Alabama power and the apartment to pick times they could both come out. It took me more than 6 weeks til my power was working. Then my window would leak and everytime it rained, it would rain in my apartment. My couch constantly had to be dried out. Lastly the noise from my neighbors above was terrible and in general sketchy people lived here. I once saw someone getting arrested in the building next to mine. Also one of my neighbors called the cops on his wife for domestic disturbance and the police came out in the middle of the night. Do not live here if you are looking for a safe place to live.

While we thank you for your review, we’re disappointed to hear your time with us did not live up to your expectations. We are sorry if you experienced issues with your power or water intrusion. Our goal is always to provide prompt and efficient service to our residents, and we apologize if your experience differed. We are currently improving our property by replacing the roofs throughout our community. We believe this will alleviate any issues our residents might experience during heavy rains. We are glad to investigate any reports of excessive noise, and always advise residents to reach out to local authorities if they believe any disturbances of an unlawful nature are occurring. We would love to speak to you about how we can improve your opinion of our community, and invite you to visit the office or call (205) 967-9994 at your convenience.
If you like cockroaches, wide open security gates, and dog feces, this is your place. I've been in here for 1 month and seen 20 roaches. Good news is, the security gates don't work, so any bug man has wide open access. Dog feces litter the grounds as there are not enough places to discard it. Ice maker hasn't worked since day 1, maintenance guy is "all over it". Plan on budgeting $6 a week on gas station ice per week. Move out day can not come soon enough.

We feel your frustration, and we’re sorry your time with us has been less than satisfactory thus far. We wanted to let you know we changed our pest control service company in October of 2016 to better serve the needs of our residents. We also ordered additional pet waste receptacles to help maintain the beauty and cleanliness of our cherished community. Our gate has also been repaired and is in proper working order. We apologize if your maintenance request was not handled in a timely fashion, and would like to work hand in hand with you to resolve any issues you’ve experienced as a valued resident. Please drop by the office at your earliest convenience or give us a call at (205) 967-9994.
