Property Ratings at 1500 Mass
Everything about this place is bad and it's so overpriced. Yes, the location is perfect but the management is poor, it's always loud, fire alarms go off frequently, I had bugs on numerous occasions and just sincere lack of community. Would not recommend this place at all.
I am still currently living in this building and I can't wait to leave it. Although you get fairly quick answers from the maintenance people, I have had 9 months on my lease and I am still waiting for them to fix the pest issues among paint and doors malfunctioning. They come "fix it" and its fixed for a day. They don't do real fixing just masking. On top of it my apartment is always hot, except middle of Jan with the only air vent closed and window open. It really is terrible and summer can be unbearable! And don't even get me started about the noise. Its in the middle of the city so it obviously will be noisy, but noise here gets amplified especially when you need to have your windows open because the temperature and airflow is terrible. I know the location is great and they are cheaper than most around the area, but don't get fooled is it not worth the saving.
The people in the leasing office are awful and petty. I would recommend you look anywhere else but a building owned by Equity.
Our neighbor reported bed bugs in July 2017. Staff were not transparent about the issue (one leasing agent asked us to not say anything about it!) and it was only a matter of time before the infestation moved its way into our unit. Staff has refused to return phone calls or take action and we are going on almost a week without treatment since we discovered the infestation. They did "preventative maintenance" in several occasions and completely missed the infestation. Do not live here! It's not worth it!
Property Manager at 1500 Mass, Responded To This Review
We take pest related concerns very seriously and it is my understanding that both the local and regional managers have been in constant communication with you to address this. While your apartment is being treated, please let us know if you have any questions about the accommodations our team has provided you regarding your lease, hotel stays and any possible damages. Thank you.
The location is great, but the older residents who have been living in the building are treated wrong. We provide guaranteed rent every month and year! We'll not looking to move out every year and management will not renovate our apartments without increasing the rent by a few hundreds of dollars. They will not let you transfer to another apartment to get away from Marijuana smokers and out of control, untrained neighbors with barking dogs. The management is all about making money and it shows. The management is inexperienced and not good at managing the building. The carpet is dirty, neighbors are immature and never lived in an apartment before, a lot of them are in College or fresh out of College and away from home for the first time and out of control. This building sucks and If I could afford to live in a better building I would have moved out years ago. Hopefully I can move out soon and find a better place to stay. When you work hard everyday and come after work, you want a relaxing environment to enjoy your night without dealing with out of control people and their barking dogs and smelling pot in your apartment. Thanks for let me vent and for telling the truth. If you ever want to know the truth about an apartment ask the people that's been living there for years and make sure you visit the building on a Friday or Saturday before moving in. Now you have it! Good Day!
This is the best location, but the worst building. DO NOT MOVE here unless you enjoy unresponsive managers and rude neighbors. The other day I walked into the laundry room and someone was clean mold and mildew out of the laundry machine. Well ordinarily this would be a good thing, except it was a resident. The poor lady said she had complained about it and that the washers being moldy but had resorted to cleaning them herself. Another woman walked in while we were talking and she said she had also complained. People leaving their dogs (and kids) to run around and in inappropriate places (something about the laundry room) are also a common occurrence. The worst thing is the noise...you hear everything from every apartment around you and all of the noise in the hallway. So I heard some lady complaining about that and didn't really believe it until I wandered into the lounge to check my email. The ceiling was shaking and the noise was truly distracting. Who the heck puts a weight room above a work center and then doesn't sound proof it. The ultimate is the general lack of common sense. The driveway was redone...smaller and more inconvenient than before...good luck getting your car around anything. The elevators were redone in a horrible, tacky colors that show all of the dirt that doesn't get cleaned. The parking garage is the loudest ever and good luck if you live near there because the exhaust from the cars left running will definitely be a problem. They are pretty clueless...so my lease ends very soon and I'll be moving out...unless I can figure out a way to get out earlier...horrible, horrible, horrible place to live.
A great apartment for people that want to relish the DC experience. The building is literally in the middle of everything. In between Dupont and Logan Circles and a short 15 min walk to the white house you have everything near by. The building however is somewhat older but everything has been recently renovated except the hallways. As for amenities there is a small gym, rooftop , and tenant lounge which are all OK. All in all the location and nice staff is what makes this apartment great.
1500 Mass Apartments is a centrally located building on Massachusetts Ave, one of the major roads in the heart of Downtown DC. It is a 10-minute walk to the White House, and equidistant to two of the main metro lines for the many busy worker bee transplants to the city. You can easily get a pulse for your cosmopolitan surroundings simply by exiting one of the three entrances, where you can traverse up and down Embassy Row on Massachusetts Ave to check out the embassies concentrated throughout the city, the posh University Club, and National Geographic, not to mention one-of-a-kind dining experiences up 14th street, like famed Le Diplomate, which requires advance reservations. The building itself has undergone recent renovations, and is a one-stop shop that provides modern offerings at a reasonable price, such as the ground floor beer/wine mart for those late night parties, gym, and rooftop lounge.
