Property Ratings at 1820 Whitley
The unit I toured was nice and the complex seemed normal but when it came time to sign the lease things went downhill. They change the pricing of their units on a weekly basis stating they adjust it to “market rates” so the number they give you during the tour is only good for several days. They tried to convince me to move in with less than 72 hours notice and would not give me the keys until I had proof of having set up my utilities. I told them that was not the move in date I put on my application, needed more time to set up the apartment and did not want to pay 2 weeks of rent for a place I would not have the keys for. My only two options were to rent the apartment at their new price, which was $160 more a month or cut my losses. I’m only giving it one star because Gini was very kind while giving me my tour. I genuinely wish her the best. Unfortunately, place probably isn’t your best option.

Strongly dislike living here. The parking is absolutely horrible. I work long 12 hour shifts throughout the week and when I come home at night I end up having to park over half a mile away from the building I live in just because there aren't enough parking spots. All of the stairway entrances to the buildings smell like dog pee and the staircases are dirty. (I have notified the office multiple times and they have done nothing about it.) The neighbors below me are extremely loud and each time I have filed a noise complaint the office manager said "That's just apartment living" and refused to talk to the people below me about trying to be more quiet at night. When I filed complaints to the office manager I was told that things would "calm down" once the construction was done and more parking spots would open but NOTHING has improved like she said they would. The staff seem to clean and maintain all the areas where they give their apartment tours and neglect to take care of all the other areas in this apartment complex. I have previously lived in 1600 Vine and can honestly say that it is much better to live there than it is at 1820 Whitley. Will be moving as soon as my lease is up here.
This quant little complex on Whitely ave is pretty stellar. The biggest problem which is the reason I've only recently become a resident is the parking. Street parking in nope and they don't have the inventory to sell extra spaces. A friend has lived here for almost three years and enjoys everything. The pool doesn't get much sun and pool apts don't share their wifi, but whatever. Living in Hollywood is all about having an escape route, 1820 Whitely is just a block away from Cahuenga blvd which means you can avoid the Hellwood Bowl traffic, even if you want to travel west. The roof top area is pretty stellar, although it could be bigger even if just a tanning section. One of the coolest things I've experienced here is when I had walked in sans appointment the leasing agent Jinni remembered me from several years back.
Redwoodurban Hollywood made transitioning into L.A. effortless. On top of housing, they also offer gym and swimming which saves me time and money going elsewhere or paying for memberships/trainers. They also have great security so you don't have to watch your back 24/7. I couldn't ask for a better location. It's a fantastic area for anyone new to the Los Angeles area. I myself am a student, so it's important to me to be close to all the action so I can get things done and also be social :) There's a Wells Fargo Bank and Trader Joe's, schools, parks, and plenty of attractions nearby! The list goes on and on! If it's in your budget, I highly recommend!
