About This Property
A modern English basement apartment in an early 1900s historic Bloomingdale townhome could be your next residence! Check out the interactive floor plan here to get a sense of the space (note the unit is unfurnished). This English is completely separate from the upstairs unit, where the homeowner resides year round. All Bosch appliances, including induction cooktop, washer and dryer, and quiet dishwasher, combine with the apartment's other energy efficient attributes that are separated from the homeowner's upstairs unit: a flush mount Mitsubishi mini-split ductless heat pump heating/cooling system and Navien tankless water heater. The modernity of the unit continues, controllable by Google Home or other smart apps: smart thermostats in each bedroom and living room to allow individualized heating and cooling; Eufy video doorbell with in-unit chime; and Lutron Caseta smart dimmer lighting, with lights increasing in color warmth as lights dim. Multiple hard-wired ethernet ports reduce bandwidth dependency, in addition to the unit being WiFi-ready. A full galley kitchen with quartz countertops and waterfall end provides ample soft close storage and prep space to let your culinary creativity fully express itself. A Bosch refrigerator/freezer with ice maker sits sleekly tucked away. Full-size closets with built-in shelving not only in each bedroom but also in the unit's hallway coat closet with an additional cleaning supplies closet. Beautiful Provenza LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring in the entire apartment allows for easy maintenance, while floor to ceiling windows in the living room provide natural light and access onto a relaxing back patio shared with the homeowner. Location, location, location! One block west finds the Red Hen, one of DC's consistently ranked best restaurants. A 7-min walk takes you to Big Bear Cafe and, from spring to fall, the Bloomingdale Farmer's Market. A 5-min walk takes you to secluded Crispus Attucks Park or, in the opposite direction, to Pub & the People, which has become one of DC's most beloved neighborhood establishments, or Showtime Lounge, which Esquire has named one of the best bars in America. Only a 15-minute walk to Trader Joe's and NOMA. Transportation-wise, the #80 bus that runs downtown right to Union Station and then through Chinatown to Farragut West is half a block away and is an easy way to get to Reagan National Airport, dropping off right at Gallery Place to transfer to the Yellow Line straight to the airport. One block north of the house is the #G8/9 bus stop to take you downtown through Shaw and the 9th Street Corridor, while the house is 0.8 miles from either the Shaw (Green/Yellow) or NOMA/Gallaudet (Red) Metro stops. Sound good? Come check it out for yourself and see what this home in the inviting Bloomingdale neighborhood has to offer.

Roughly two miles north of the eastern end of the National Mall, Bloomingdale is a small neighborhood of about 12 blocks. It extends from Channing Street south to Florida Avenue, on the southeast side of Howard University. Bloomingdale is literally picture-perfect -- it was even featured in the opening credits of the Netflix series, House of Cards. The colorful brownstones with turrets aren't all people love about this popular neighborhood. It is the location of Crispus Attucks Park, a popular green space with terrific views.
Bloomingdale contains two commercial districts. The first, along Rhode Island Avenue, is packed with bars and restaurants -- including popular favorites the Red Hen and Bacio Pizzeria. Florida Avenue and North Capitol Street also offer restaurants, bars, and a few other businesses. While Bloomingdale doesn't have its own Metro station, bus stops are scattered throughout the neighborhood, taking residents quickly to nearby stops or into downtown DC.
