Efficient gas operated heater keeps the apartment warm when required. Quotes from recent tenants: My wife Kate and I just got married this year. Moving up from Santa Cruz we found 1857, the perfect place to call home in the city, and we fell in love with the Cow Hollow neighborhood. Located in a quiet patch that feels like a serene escape a block away from lively Union and Fillmore streets, we enjoyed being close to the Marina and Fisherman's Wharf, and found the area fun and safe. This building is a special home and lovingly restored, with a beautiful little back yard. It is comfortably spacious for this city location, with its windows and open layout and direct access to the garden. I personally loved the attached office space. Working remotely in the office nook worked out very nicely. Owners Ron & Leila are incredibly kind and accommodating. The finest of people you could rent from, doing everything possible to make our experience amazing. - Stephen & Kate. I've lived at 1857 Filbert for over four years and I am very happy living here. Leila and Ron are wonderful, friendly people and take good care of the garden and house. I love looking at the sunny garden and it is always very quiet here. The next door neighbors are quiet too. The location is fantastic, just a block from Union street and I walk there almost every day, also Safeway is a short walk too. Nice safe neighborhood to live in. - Jill From Michael - current tenant: Storybook Cottage is idyllic. It is located in San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood, situated in between Pacific Heights and the San Francisco Bay. The neighborhood is laid-back and populated by locals, containing some of the city's most storied restaurants, bars, and boutiques. While the neighborhood provides plenty of opportunity, Storybook is an oasis. Ron and Leila, the owners, are delightful -- great people and kind as can be, always happy to chat or provide a recommendation on a San Francisco activity to check out. I had few issues during my year-long stay, but Ron was always responsive and prompt anytime something cropped up. The apartment is spacious, well-furnished, and easy to live in. One of the features I most appreciated was how quiet the home can be. When sitting in the backyard garden, the hustle-and-bustle of the city yields to peaceful contemplation enjoyed in the company of the plants Leila and Ron tend to. I enthusiastically recommend a stay.
