i’ve been a resident here since may 2023 and just renewed until jan 2025 because i’m not in the place to move elsewhere at the moment. this isn’t an AWFUL complex to live at, but i’ve been having repeated issues with valet trash not picking up my cardboard boxes when i put them out broken down how they’re supposed to be. also, maintenance “emergencies” are not treated as such. the overnight/post office hours phone line claims that if you leave a message describing your emergency, you’ll get a call back “momentarily”. they do not call back at all no matter the emergency. i have to send an email the next day to make sure they follow up on my message that i left. the leasing office agents aren’t the best either. when i had AC issues this week, and sent an email describing my issues and how it qualified as an emergency, they said they would “monitor the weather” and “if it increases (above 80 degrees) we will send maintenance over to fix the unit”. it was a humid april day in houston…. one glance at the weather app would tell you that the weather would be at 87 by mid day. i had to call the office to make sure they send someone over. the issue was fixed the same day, but it seemed as if it wouldn’t have happened if i didn’t pester a bit. outdoor grills have also been broken for at least 2 weeks, claimed they will be fixed and residents will be made aware of when they’d be good, and we still haven’t gotten an update. in all, when i don’t have maintenance issues, i’m happy living here, but when it rains, it pours it seems. my rate increasing after renewing isn’t really justified when im having these constant issues

I’ve been living here 2 weeks. So far valet living has barely taken my trash and broken down boxes. Instead they leave it right in front of my door. I’ve complained about this and the leasing office said the boxes have to be in a bag. I sent them a screenshot of the guidelines and said that’s not what their guidelines say. You can’t change the rules without notifying residents. Also this places has roaches. Upon move in I’ve seen roaches in my unit. Maintenance request take forever to fill. I’m still waiting on them to receive the blinds for my window so that I can actually close the blinds. They still haven’t fulfilled one of my other requests. My first move in weekend, the shower didn’t work. I called for emergency repair and NEVER received a response until I went in that Monday to ask to fix it. I couldn’t shower for 4 days. Move in day the bathtub faucet was leaking and I had to go to them to have it fixed immediately because it wasn’t like that when I viewed. Toilet also wouldn’t flush. There were so many prominent stains on the countertops it was ridiculous. Mirror damaged but apparently that’s “normal wear and tear.” Closet rods do not fit so they are always falling. They’re supposed to clean before move in but, the unit was still dirty especially the bathroom. They also tried to charge move in fees I already paid then tacked on a late fee so I had to address them about that.

Do not move here. We have had nothing but problems since new management. If you read all of the newest reviews, they say the same thing. I don't even know where to start. From towing cars with an 1879 sticker, to security gates always broken, weed odor everywhere, a new bar across the street that always brings unwanted guests, crazy trash fees of $30 that you can't opt out of, mold in the hallways, trash everywhere, drugs all over the pool area, people coming into the apartment complex checking for keys under the matts.

Hit you with ridiculous fees at move out. Charging $200 for paint “repairs” for minor nail holes that probably cost $50 (if that). Scratches on floor that were already there. Get hit with valet fees even if you don’t use the service. Absolutely ridiculous.

Awesome please! So happy to live here with all my amazing neighbors and roomies. The maintenance is great and the living arrangements all worked out for the best . Overall great experience!!!!! 1879 is a dream apartment experience. Oscar and Antonio made the application and moving process an absolute please. The sense of community, amenities, and tone of the complex is exactly as marketed. It's an incredible place to get to live.
This is a very well run, courteous service staff and the amenities are top notch. The residents match the same level of sophistication
it's a nice place to live, conveniently next to retail and freeways, nice interior and I enjoy the location
Friendly and responsive staff to concerns, great mail and package system and I appreciate the security team as they are responsive to matters that occur at the complex. Common areas are clean and the parking is kept up with well as they dont let others into the property to park very long and will tow if need be.

Apartments are nice but due to being open to the outside be prepared for mosquitos in your apartment constantly. if you want a higher floor to escape the bug remember there are no elevators.

The staff is very friendly, amenities are nice but been here 1 week and my car has already had an attempted break in, window is now stuck open and garages are $100 a month if they have some close to you. No longer feel safe here. Not looking forward to being paranoid for the next year. Good luck on feeling safe and no laptops or money or anything expensive laying around in my car just empty water bottles and a pillow. Can't have anything delivered to your door for safety but no cameras in the parking lot? Seems crazy to me.
