2 1st St is an apartment community located in Kennebec County and the 04901 ZIP Code.
In 1692, Major Benjamin Church led his troops into the present-day area of Winslow, Maine during King William’s War. Soon after, colonists from the Plymouth Colony settled in the area, and in 1754, Fort Halifax was built here at the confluence of the Sebasticook and Kennebec rivers. The blockhouse still remains as part of Fort Halifax Park, and it is the oldest blockhouse in the country.
Wooded and rural, Winslow is ideal for those who want to be surrounded by a scenic landscape and enjoy the outdoors. Take a walk along the Two Cent Bridge, pausing to enjoy the spectacular view of the river, to reach neighboring Waterville and popular destinations like the Waterville Opera House and Silver Street Tavern and Restaurant. Back home along Bay Street, be sure to check out the Lobster Trap & Steakhouse, or head north on Benton Avenue to enjoy local favorite Big G’s Deli. Across the river, residents will find more destinations, including Colby College, Thomas College, and LaFleur Airport.
