Property Ratings at 2039 North Las Palmas Ave
Management does not. care. if. you. live. or. die. There was a shooting in the elevator lobby area a few months ago and there’s 3 cameras in that location - management said the cameras were not “activated” so they can’t do anything about it. Make sure to ask about the painted over bullet holes on the garage elevator door. There was a man parked outside an entrance to the building for months who threatened to shoot people as we walked out - management and LAPD did nothing. You will never, ever be able to have a package delivered without it being stolen. Laundry machines are constantly broken. Water is shut off for 8 hours a day every 3 weeks. The pipes are constantly clogged and drains are overflowing. The elevator is constantly broken. Every day here is a living, walking nightmare.
Apartments are modern and look nice but don't do it. Cars get broken into in the garage left and right, one car was stolen off the lot. Water gets shut off for the day at least 3 times a month. All the packages get stolen.... like literally every single one. There was also a shooting in the common area recently. OH AND LAUNDRY MACHINES CONSTANTLY BROKEN!!!!!! Management will have you sign a contract about how they aren't liable for anything and also tell you to buy a PO box. If you don't mind extra money coming out of ur pocket to fix ur car, replace stolen items, and therapy for all the trauma this building gives you then move in
I will provide a complete review once I move out, but do not do it to yourself. This has been the worst living experience I ever had. Luckily my lease just ended so I have the freedom to leave, which I will do ASAP, but details to follow and my exact unit once I move. The noise is unbearable, the neighbors are inconsiderate, management does not tend to request . . . I have a few more things to list, but stay away at all costs. I literally cannot sleep at night because my upstairs neighbor stomps, drop weights, and plays loud music. I complained to building management only for the tenant to knock on my door to address the issue. It's unprofessional and tasteless. More to come.
I stayed with them for 8 months. Customer service was excellent. Furniture was new and good quality.
Hardwood floors, massive one bedroom with vaulted ceilings, huge beautifully tended to garden. PERFECT for entertaining. Whitley Heights is central but not in the thick of the Hollywood madness, everything is walkable but you can opt out of the hub bub and retreat in the hills. Rick the landlord is great, he's responsive, takes care of the place. The house is a Tudor revival from the 20s and is often referred to as "snow white's house" by the neighborhood.
After living here almost a year, here's my list of pros/cons Pros -10 min walk to the Metro and lots to do in the neighborhood -Parking included - Management seems attentive and takes care of maintenance issues in a timely manner -lots of space Cons -Refrigerator not included and other appliances/kitchen is super old - They paint everything (including sinks and showers) before move in to make things look new but once you clean your place the paint strips -Laundry is bit pricey and the machines aren't the best - The location can be fun (across from the Bowl, walking to Runyon) but the traffic can be absolutely awful on Highland - We live on the side of the building facing a construction site (management didn't warn us about that before moving in) and the windows are thin so it's super noisy Not sure if it's a place to settle for longer than a year or two...
