The Maverick
Maverick Chelsea, on West 28th Street, is located at an intersection of fashion, finance and technology. Developed by HAP Investments and designed by DXA studio, the project is actually two buildings, both with a diamond-patterned facade: the acid-treated white concrete half providing 87 condos and the darker concrete tower offering 112 rental apartments. Maverick stands out because it’s a brand new, amenity-packed build in the formerly industrial neighborhood — and because of its convenience. “Most of our buyers already have some connection to Chelsea—maybe they lived here 10 years ago or moved away during the pandemic,” says according to Roger Dunkelbarger, an agent with the Eklund Gomes team at Douglas Elliman. “Now that so many people have been called back to the office, they need a place in the city that’s in a central location.” Indeed, the 21-story tower is just a 15-minute commute to both downtown and Midtown. The Fashion Institute of Technology is across the street, while Hudson Yards and companies like Meta, Amazon and Google are within walking distance.
