Other things to note--Meet your hosts! John and Kathy Malm fell in love with and settled in Elverson in 1990. Their love of historic buildings and the great outdoors brought them to the area. They raised their two sons to be nature lovers and sport enthusiasts. Graduating with a duel degree in mechanical engineering and business, John always enjoyed building and fixing things and when you live in an old farm house on a horse farm there are many things that need to be built or fixed. Throughout his career John has renovated and built many dwellings. He has a particular passion for historic buildings and appreciates barn frames with their hand hewn beams and mortise and tenon joints. His unique talent lies in rescuing parts from old houses before demolition and creatively incorporating these well-crafted pieces into his projects. By trade, John is a green energy heating and air conditioning contractor. Much of his work involves solar or geothermal heat pumped through radiant floors as you will experience at Spring Meadow barn. Kathy is a retired teacher and active equestrian. She enjoys being an Honorary Whipper-in for the Cheshire Hunt and enjoys training, and fox hunting horses. Kathy is a life-long learner who enjoys sharing her passion of horses, nature, yoga, healthy cooking and holistic living with others.
