Settled in the 1670s, Downtown Waterbury is as historic as it is picturesque. With its classic New England charm, narrow streets, public art, and its original town green -- the Waterbury Green -- it's no wonder so many new residents are choosing apartments here. Downtown Waterbury is home to some of the city's most beloved landmarks, including the Mattatuck Museum, located across from Waterbury Green. The Palace Theater, located on Main Street, was built in the 1920s as a Vaudeville house. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the theater is a beautiful venue for plays and other performances. Downtown Waterbury is also home to several colleges, including UCONN Waterbury.
With a variety of shops, restaurants, and specialty stores -- many on the main level of apartment and office buildings -- Downtown Waterbury is a walkable neighborhood -- and with so much to see, you'll want to get out and explore.

Property Ratings at 22 W Porter St
You will freeze during the winter times. The windows falls out. Mice are everywhere, there is garbage/furniture everywhere. You will never have a good night sleep again while living there. The Management Is HORRIBLE. They Will give you a hard time about getting your security back. If your lease is up in the middle of the month, they will try to make you pay the remaining last 2 weeks of the money EVEN AFTER YOU MOVE OUT. Do Not Waste Your Time!!
First off it says heat included. THATS a lie !. The heat is in the house but it does not work. Mice are everyyyyywhere. Things appear to look nice when you first move in but 4 months later , I guarantee it will fall apart. Do not waste your time moving in. The only time you can speak to someone is when they come around and knock on your door for the rent. Any other phone number is a google phone number.
I left this apartment a couple years back, and it's the first apartment I've ever left before my lease was up. This apartment building is noisier than a concert. The lease said disruptive noise was not allowed but the tenants ignored it at the landlord's allowance. Also, the landlord stated that he ALWAYS keeps a large portion of the deposit to cover 'cleaning fees' even if you leave the place in pristine condition. This was explained when I was moving out. List of issues: - the lease said that they offer 'off street parking' but because the property owner's boats and broken down vehicles taking up many of the spots, you won't find parking available every time - they will tow the tenant's cars for passes not facing outward. - Windows on the 4th floor collapsed into the building and the maintenance man drilled all of them permanently closed instead of fixing them. - The fridge would not close properly, we had to deal with a leaky fridge and keep a towel inserted above the door so that it would stay closed. No one should have to call police every day because their whole apartment is vibrating from concert level sound equipment. I had a tenant threaten me physically for calling police due to noise, and I left before my lease was up under the advice of law enforcement. If I had to pick anything nice about the apartments, it would be that they have high ceilings and they are low cost and spacious. But honestly, in hindsight, those apartments are not worth even $400 a month.
